Thanks! She's covered under my insurance!:thumb If I can't find anyone closer to home (she's a 2 hour drive) then I will see if my Dr. will give me a referral to her.

I use a midwife/Ob combo in Manchester. Kull & Griffith 641-2222

I love them. They are in the medical buildings right at Elliot Hospital.

I have Cigna and they told me that you don't need a referal for an OB, that they are considered a primary physician. Call and check with your provider though.

APMomma - i was just going to post about them! an ob and two midwives. i delivered with them in '98, but only used them from my 7th month on.

my sister is on baby number two with them; but she's not AP and doesn't question a doctor's advice.

i myself did not like the greene's practice and left it. i was there for pre-natal care and was told by the ARNP in a bitchy voice that she didn't have time for my questions as she had other appointments waiting. that was the last appointment i left there in tears. i'm not saying they are bad, they were just a bad chocie for ME. i want to be involved and understand what's going on. i don't just blindly follow their orders and i really didn't care for the attitude i got from them when i couldn't figure out which door to report to for an ultrasound.

Terri,

Kull and Griffith added a new midwife 2 years ago, Christine Isabelle, so they have three now. Linda, Marty, Christine and Dr. Kull. Charlie is still in the office too. I love, love them!

dr Kip Mackenzie in Keene, very friendly, esp. to homebirth, spoke alongside Ina Mae, I would rather go to him than some midwives!

I do paps and complete pelvic exams in Southern NH.

Best wishes!

I use Harbour Womens Health in Portsmouth and I love them. I switched to them after the awful birth of my second child.

They are very AP friendly and Dr Lantenin is the best!:love

Here is the link if you want to investigate

Soccermom- you must be close to me, cause I used them, too! I really like most of the midwives, but never met Dr. Lantenin. Marybeth was at the hospital with me.

I am in Strafford, where are you?

I only switched to them after the birth of my second. It was horrible and they even sent me home with a staple in, Dr Lantenin got it out and I felt nothing, he was amazing. I hope to have another under his care very soon. I had heard great things about the whole staff from a friend who went with me for the staple removal to introduce me to Dr L

Rebecca I have heard good things about them as well!
Glad that your birth went well!
Do they work out of Wentworth Douglass? And do they have the birthing tubs?

Rebecca

We live so close, we should get together at a park when it warms up a bit!

Is there a mdc playgroup for our area?

I don't know but we could start one!:D Sounds like a plan

Sounds good! When the weather gets warmer for your little ones we can meet up at the park!

Anyone else? Maybe I will start a new thread?

The three of us that want to do it so far all live on the Seacoast. But I would not mind traveling, can always squeeze in a trip to the Mall of NH :LOL afterwards!

Occasional traveling is fine with us, too. I have a friend due with dc #2 any day now, and she might be game, too. :)

yippeeeeh, mdc playgroup. i want in i want in!!! there's a few more mdc moms in the manchester area that i know of.

:LOL ).

do we have a plan already?

Hmm.. where to meet, and when?

A public place for the first time? Does anyone know of a nice park (that's maybe fenced in?)

There's a nice one in Durham, near UNH at Jackson's Landing. The equipment is nice and it's far from the road...

I am relatively new to this state and don't know where much is and the one park that I know of in Rochester is too far for most ppl. I am up for anything, just for me it has to be in the afternoon as my oldest does not get out of kindergarden until 11:30, maybe we could also do it on a weekend, that way the dp can come. My dh is very leery of me meeting ppl from online with the kids, kwim? So I know for the first meeting he would feel better if he were there.

Let me know the details!

We could also go to a kids museum. The is that one in Concord, the Metamorphasis? It is inexpensive and just wonderful, plus they have a place out back for a picnic lunch!

charmingfare farm is great fun! I would love to meet there!

Also, Prescott Park in Portsmouth is great, they have plays and music free in the summer. There's the Portsmouth Children's Museum nearby, too.

Rebecca

The charmingfare farm would be fun! It seems like a nice central location for manch and seacoast mamas. How about choosing a saturday when it warms up a bit so we can make it a whole family affair? I feel more comfortable meeting new people with dh also.

It opens for the season May 1.

As a side note, my sister's former roommate had a chance to date the owner of this farm, and turned it down for some loser greasemonkey she had been dating previously. Man, what I wouldn't give to be part of the charmingfare family! I'd love a farm like that (and the guy has bucks, from what I understand). SHe was kinda a dork anyway.

never been to charmingfare, i've heard they're not as good to the animals as they could be, kwim...somebody please correct me, you gotta understand, i looove animals and hate it when they get locked up in tiny cages and treated like plushtoys. but i'd like to hear another opinion about the place. so far i've only been to the friendly farm in dublin and find that a great place, but not good for a playdate, cause it's a different direction.
the met is a good idea, esp with bad weather. there's also one in londonderry.

if you guys wanna meet sometime soon, that'd be great, i'm afraid i won't be going out too much anymore towards the end of may, when little stinker is due to arrive:LOL

i also like the idea of meeting on the weekends with dp's, my dh doesn't have anything against me meeting people from the mdc board, but gee, the guy needs to get out as badly as ds

:LOL , we haven't met too many like-minded people here so far.

There's also a LLLI meeting in Dover at the Library the second tuesday of every month at 10am. I'll be going this week with my brand new baby, and very active toddler. Zoebugsmom and soccermom, will you be there?

zoebugsmom
04-11-2004, 09:00 AM
OH, the 13th? I can probably go. My first job was at the library in Dover! I've never been to a LLL meeting either. I had no idea they had them at the Dover Library.

MamaBug

LdyBluNH@aol

here's the list of meetings

i'm not certain where dover is so i couldnt figure whats around

Shoot, now I wish I'd gone to the LLL in Dover yesterday... then I could have met Rebecca! I went to one a couple of months ago, but haven't dragged myself over since. Which is silly, because we live only a block from the library and I'm there at least twice a week with my nearly-4-year-old.

So, is there a plan for Seacoast-area MDCers to meet? I haven't posted here very frequently, but lurk from time to time.

Rebecca
04-14-2004, 02:23 PM
Don't feel bad.. we're all sick and didn't go yesterday. Maybe next month.

Is this Rev Jan perchance?

Another Manchester Mom in for a playdate. I have a school ager that I need to be around for in the afternoons and a nearly 18 month old toddler. Weekends are good for us too.

I've met Annika already. We were in a former playgroup together.

I put in another vote for the Met in Derry. They recently moved and the new area is very nice. All one floor and it's very open concept now so you can't lose any children even if you have a few going in different directions :o

I'm with Annika about Charmingfare Farms. Maybe I'm spoiled after living near the San Diego zoo but the animal containers aren't very large at all. It was rather sad when I chaperoned DD's field trip there. I'm not so opposed that I wouldn't go to meet some MDC Momma's but it's not my first choice.

The Portsmouth Children museum sounds nice too. I haven't been but have been meaning to take Abbey.

I myself am not a fan of the Portsmouth one. It is several floors and I am always worried that I will lose on of my kids, and the weekends there are a nightmare, especially in warmer weather. Also the parking stinks. Just my two cents!

zoebugsmom
04-17-2004, 05:51 PM
Portsmouth's nice cause there is the park and all the stores and ice cream. You can't go to Portsmouth with out stopping at Annabelle's ice cream, yum. I've never been to the museum, so can't give an opinion on that.

I've never been to the other places mentioned, so have no input on them.

MamaBug

If we just want a place to let the kids run and have a picnic Prescoot park is perfect and in the summer they have kids concerts in the afternoon. I have never had Anabelles ice cream but I heard it's wonderful!

zoebugsmom
04-20-2004, 08:19 AM
That's exactly what I was thinking of. The concerts and plays and the park. I :love Portsmouth.
