hipumpkins 04-02-2009, 10:54 PM Did anyone hear the Jersey guys show this afternoon? I could not get through but they were perpetrating every circ myth and 2 callers called up and talked about how much cleaner the circ'd penis was.
They were saying about how it cuts down on infections and making horrible jokes and I could not get through!!!
I called and called but it was busy. I did not get to hear the end of the show b/c I had to go into work. Did anyone else hear this...did anyone call and tell the truth?
I tried to call my friend and have her call in to the show but she wasn't home. I was just wondering if there was ANY voice of reason out there.
marmo 04-03-2009, 12:26 AM I didn't hear this, but happened to be flipping through the stations on Weds. and heard Rush Limbaugh talking about circumcision, without ANY sorta facts, of course. He was talking about NOCIRC and Marilyn Milos and her story of observing a circumcision while in nursing school. He laughed off the un-anesthetized circumcision of an infant, because 'like he's going to remember it!' I was so angry! So do we abuse people in comas? Can we otherwise hurt babies? What sorta argument is that??
SleeplessMommy 04-03-2009, 08:16 AM I am pretty sure that ANY male circumcised in the USA more than 30 years ago was done with no anesthesia. If it was done to you, Rush, was that OK?
latinalonestar 04-03-2009, 08:55 AM Rush is a UA violation. :eyesroll

This comment actually made me feel better. If Rush Limbaugh is promoting pro-circ ideas (and even their tag lines) then that gives me greater confidence that the pro-circ logic deserves little support or acknowledgement.
Heck I bet if you let people know this is how Rush Limbaugh thinks, it might make people reconsider their pro-circ position.
Mandynee22 04-03-2009, 02:00 PM This is why I listen to Stern... not that I'd get a NJ station here anyway LOL

:yeah:
Totally!!
perspective 04-03-2009, 04:16 PM Next time someone here kinds into the circ discussion with a liberal set of parents, one tool at least get them thinking is say "You know how much you value Rush Limbaugh's opinion, guess where he stands on this issue?"
knucklehead 04-03-2009, 09:35 PM I happen to be a conservative republican and completely anti-circ. 90% of the time my opinions align with Rush Limbaugh's (listen to him daily) but this time he greatly saddened me.

I did not mean to offend, I am sorry. Its interesting how most of the issues we discuss in our culture in the form of their solutions, and those solutions usually land on a spectrum from liberal to conservative. Its interesting that the Circ issue does not fit that model.
Is it that since this is a Human Rights issue it goes beyond the political spectrum? Or is it that only after it becomes a major mainstream issue is it pulled to one side or the other?
Fellow Traveler 04-04-2009, 02:39 PM I used to live in NJ and I've heard them before. It's a shame they have the MIC but they're not worth listening to. They get it wrong much of the time. This is also not the first time that station's DJs have spoken this way. Their 10am-2pm crew said something similar a few years ago.

I think it would be great if you wrote in and told him that. I think it would be better received from a fan/listener of his than someone who doesn't usually agree with him. Maybe you could educate him a little on the subject.

It really is interesting that circ does not fit this model. I was just thinking about this over the last couple of weeks. It almost seems like Fox News is the one putting out the anti-circ stories (they had the one about the jury award), while CNN and MSNBC are putting out the pro-circ ones.
Full Heart 04-06-2009, 11:05 AM I read the rush transcript and I was confused. I think he thought that story from MSNBC was an april fools joke. And he was making fun of it. But I don't think the MSNBC article was supposed to be a joke. Does anyone know? I read the MSNBC article and it was very pro circ.
