I just wanted to hear from those who do co-sleep to see if you have noticed an increase in illness with yourself as the Mom?

Not at all.
We did the family bed from birth to age 2. He's been in his own room/twin bed. But he still wakes up at night (I weaned him in August) but I go to his bed and stay there till he falls asleep - or stay there until I wake up in the morning.
We (the family) don't really get sick that often.

no. my son is 8 months old and he has been co sleeping with me since he was born. he has had two colds and a stomach virus and I have not been sick at all, despite lack of sleep -- he nurses often in the night still.

I haven't noticed this at all. We've co slept with all of our kids from day one (oldest is 11 youngest is 1). You have to figure you're going to be the one taking care of them whether they are in your bed or not. I think they even heal faster being close to mom!:love

Ditto, no increase in illness here too. We have 2 small co-sleepers.
I (only me, less sleep than the rest I thinks) do catch things from my older dd (8 yrs old) and her friends but only one (24 hr stomach bug) has gone through the entire family last summer.
My 2.5 yr old dd had the flu and no one else caught it.
I agree with ekblad7 on being closer & healing, also and bf ;)

That's an interesting question - i've been co-sleeping with my ebf 8 month old since he was 7 weeks. I've not had any colds or flu or anything else and my son has remained healthy well. It's quite surprising since I've not slept for more than 2 hours at a time since since he was born and my husband had a horrible cold/flu for 2 weeks! I was positive we'd get sick but I just kept drinking tea, water with lemons squeezed in it and breastfeeding.
I am surprised I've not had an increase in illness since I just am so darn tired at all the time! It must be the breastfeeding ....???
