We just had our 3rd boy. Our first 2 were circumcised :bag::( I didn't want to do it with our first, but I didn't really know enough to argue with DH about it. I caved and let him have it done. (He's not a bad guy, he really feels that it's what is best for his sons who he loves.) Then when our 2nd was born, we did it because we did it with our first. I still didn't like it, but it had already been decided. Well, I finally stood my ground. This little guy did not have to go through that. I will forever regret not standing up for my other babies and I feel SO terrible about that. But, I'm so glad that I managed to at least spare this guy. I just had to tell someone. Thanks for letting me share.

Don't feel bad. You are probably more educated on the subject now then you were with the first 2. With the proper knowledge, you had more confidence in yourself to stand your ground on the issue with facts to back you up. I can honestly say if I had not found MDC and the CAC when I did, our little boy coming in Aug, would have ended up circ'ed as well. Knowledge is power, but at the same time it is also burden...now we know the truth that a lot of people will never even try to seek.
And congrats on your little one!

Thanks so much your supportive words. I really was not informed at all with the first 2. I just had a vague feeling that I didn't like the idea of circing, but nothing more than that. I regret that I choose to defer to DH since he's the one of the 2 of us with a penis. What makes me even more regretful is that after baby #3 was born and I told him I did not want to do it this time, he said that had he known I was going to refuse now, he wouldn't have had the first 2 circed. It really bothers him that they don't "match."

i wouldn't worry about that. siblings have different appearances, different interests, and different personalities. more than likely, he will make more of a deal out of it than your kids ever will! my father and older brother were circumcised and i wasn't, and i honestly couldn't care much less that our penises didn't match. not a big priority. :p

Congratulations BoysMom2! What a lucky boy. :joy: You know, there are a lot of parents here that are in your position. It's never about what was done but what you do when you know better. And you did just fine! I hope you'll stick around since there WILL be more parents like you looking for comfort after this realization and you'll be able to say I know, I've been there....

thank you, boysmom2!!! Thank you for having the courage to change the circ'ing tradition in your family. :) And thank you for sharing your story, so that perhaps others will do the same as you.
