I'm sorry you are having a bad day.

Take some deep breaths, count to ten and remember that no matter what anyone else says/thinks you know that you are doing the right thing.

Just take a deeeeeeep breath and repeat after me:

Idiots are temporary. I am permanent. I am doing the right thing.

Just remember that they really have no say in this and treat it like a political arguement or something - forget how personal it is and just let it all flow right on past you. Do what you have to do to keep your child unharmed and let them say what they want - she is your child and you are the permanent influence in her life. Your relatives are a very temporary influence on her, as long as that is all you let them be.

Hi Lisa :)
So what'd she do this time?? :LOL
It's always totally bugged me when people suggested it to me but maybe you need to learn to be one of those 'smile and nod' people who just ignores everything she says (OK, so that's pretty unlikely!). Do you have to live there for much longer? Maybe if you had a moving out date each time she did something stupid you could just chant to yourself 'only x days to go'.
PS:- Love your work on EB, you rule woman! :D

Wow, thank you. That is going down in my book of personal philosophy lol! A part of the reason why it stresses me out so much here is I am afraid she will influence DD by the amount of times she says NO!! and shakes her head. :angry I don't want DD growing up in this kind of negative environment (and we are living with them at the moment!). But when I put it in perspective, you're right. They are only a temporary influence on my child and this is such a short time compared to the rest of DD;s life.

I'll continue to do my best to protect DD from THEIR idiocy and negativity and chant my little mantra to myself... be out of here soon... be out of here soon... lol

Hi Lucretia... I see you've decided to make yourself known to me, you stalker you : ) I'm going to go stalk out your other posts now, I see you've made 14 posts here hehe

We smile it off but when she sees we arent taking her advice she blows up. So we have had to defend our choices basically! Shes done so many things its not worth venting apart from all those great emoticons. Where's the sniper emoticon? bah, i was looking for that one specifically :LOL

A funny thing the other day

she was saying how bad her mil was and that if we knew her we'd understand because "that woman is truly HORRIBLE!"
:LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL :LOL
oh really..... LOL go take a look in the mirror you idiot, you're someone elses MIL too and your just as bad!

I said to DH to get a hammer and bonk me on the head in the future if i ever start being intolerant and disrespectful of my kids or their partners!
