Most people I know do not homeschool and since we're starting this year for the first time, it has been very hard.

They go on and on about how I need time (which I agree, I do but whatever) and how the kids should go to school.

All the negativity gets you down!

Finally! A fun benefit from staying at home! School here starts August 6. My in-laws just called to say they want our kids from the 14 through the 31. So while everyone else is going to school, we'll be flying the kids from Arizona to Oklahoma for some time with grandma/grandpa!

Fifteen days of time for myself :D (though I will miss those buggers).

And then? In November? We're off to Disneyland...DURING THE WEEK.

Oh, YES! And your naysaying friends will start to get annoyed with even that! I remember when we took off for the East coast to leisurely take in all the historical sites and sights, museums, the works - we jokingly referred to it as American History 101, and a friend of my husband's sputtered in amazement about how arrogant that was :lol. We went everywhere, doing whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted - it was one of the best advantages of homeschooling. :) Lillian

Our second year hs'ing we took an awesome trip to the Grand Canyon in October. We camped and stopped at national and state parks all along the way. The rangers loved an interested kid! We've loved the ability to travel on our own schedule.
