Hi all,
When my youngest turned 18 months old, we were told that his front 4 teeth were decaying and that he'd have to have caps put on :(
Our dentist is great and we chose to monitor the teeth closely instead.
We gave up virtually all juice (we do some watered juice rarely or fresh vegetable juice) and all dried fruits. No candy, no sugary snacks. Lots of green stuff, fresh fruit and water.
I did NOT stop night-nursing.
He is now 30 months old and the decayed spots are harder and have not progressed : ) We are using an electric Oral B toothbrush to thoroughly brush his teeth at night (really, we have only done it really well once a day). I rub a little baking soda into those teeth after the brushing.
Again, I have not stopped the night-nursing although he has stopped doing it so much at night...maybe 1 time and then once again early morning.
I feel happy because I do not think it's the breast milk that caused his decay. In our case, it truly was the sugary stuff and not brushing regulary when he was infant.
Hope this info can help other :thumb
