Even though I'm a cattle rancher's daughter, I've never before made plain beef broth for medicinal use. But after lurking in this forum, I made up a big batch and have been storing it in the freezer. I tried some when I had a bad cold, and it was great.
Fast forward to this week, when my BFF's father fell and broke his second hip in 10 months. My friend's saga is long, but suffice it to say she's the caregiver for both her parents, and I'm seriously worried she's going to make herself ill from the stress. I made up a bunch of food for her, and at the last second, tossed in a quart of my beef broth for her dad. She thought she was going to have to coax him to eat, but he drank almost the entire quart of broth last night (plus ate two huge chunks of zucchini bread, :lol).
You know how when your dear friends are having trouble, how it feels so awful to be helpless to do anything for them? Well, now I feel like that was one tiny thing I could do to help, and I'm so grateful I discovered this great recipe. Tonight I'm making up more bone broth to replenish my freezer. :D
