View Full Version : zoloft and diarrhea???

I was on Zoloft for a few years & did fine. I went off it to get pg. in 1997, and have been off since then. I just started up again in August. My dose was 25 mg, then 50 mg, then in Jan, it was increased to 100 mg.

I am not a "diarrhea person"--I can't ever remember having it ever--except for one unfortunate food-poising incident--but I have had it for the past few weeks. I am wondering if this is a common side effect with Zoloft (I know it is on the list, but is it really typical?) and is it just kicking in since my dose increased? I have no other symptoms, but I never had this before with Zoloft & I was on 150 or 200 mg.

Anyone else??

I started out on Lexapro and noticed that I had diarrhea the first few weeks. After 8 months on that I switched to Zoloft (a similar dose) and had it again for about a week. I think it's a pretty common side effect.

thanks for the reply.

So, did it stop??? I cut myself back to 75 mg today to see if that helps. I can take it if I know it will stop, but otherwise--no way! I am down to like 105 lbs & hungry, but nothing stays in, you know? I hate to go to the doctor for a $25 co pay that I can't afford. :(

When I first went on I think it lasted about a month or six weeks then tapered off until I noticed one day that it was no longer a problem.

When I switched meds my dosage stayed pretty similar and it only lasted a week or so. If it lasts for much longer I might call the doctor and see what they say, you probably wouldn't have to go in.
