Hi there, So I guess you know what the movement feels like since you have been through this already. With my first I didn't feel anything until week 21. With this one, it was at 16 weeks. I have no idea why and I can say that I am a freaker-outer about what can go wrong. Of course I can't say, Oh everything is fine, but I'd like to. I can say that even after my baby started moving at 16 weeks very obviously, there were plenty of times that I swore he had died because of no movement. My doc would ultrasound me when I would get that way and show me that he was doing plenty of moving and I just couldn't feel it. My daughter was born at 26 weeks after a week of no movement when her placenta gave out so much that it just barely sustained her life and left her with no energy for anything else, so I am extra worrisome. I hope everything is going great for you and that all is well.

Every pregnancy is different, and every birth is different. We are pregnant for the first time, and I felt movement (from both aspects: inside and from the outside) at exactly 21 weeks. Since then I've felt it consistently every day.

Your placenta may be anterior which might mean you'd feel less movement. Your baby may just have plenty of room to move around without punching and kicking your uterus. So I'm sending you hugs and moving vibes so you have confirmation that your baby is growing just fine.

i understand your worries...it's especially hard being on the board with other preggos and they all talk about feeling the baby move at 14 weeks or so.
i felt the baby move in my first pregnancy a couple of weeks earlier than this time, although according to the books it should be the other way around.
this baby waited until 20 weeks and finally kicked me hard enough so i could feel it...trust me in a month it'll be a familiar feeling again having somebody tapdance on your bladder:) be patient.

Now that I think about it, I didn't feel Adam move untill well into the 23-24th week. That was interesting, since I had four previous children...... :hugs to you and moving vibes to your wee one. Take good care.

Hi there. I wouldn't freak out. If all of you check-ups have been normal than I'm sure the baby is fine. The would be suspicious by now if the baby wasn't growing or developing. My sister felt her baby moving around 20 weeks, but I felt Ethan at 17 weeks. Ethan was and has continued to be a much more active baby than my nephew. It could just be a mellower baby?

Also, don't be offended, but if you are significantly heavier now, that could have something to do with not feeling the movement yet.

I'm sure you will feel something any day!

Here's yet another reassurance. I am pregnant with #2 (33 weeks) and I didn't feel her move until about 20 or 21 weeks. While many would say this is definitely normal, I totally freaked because I felt my first one for sure at 14 weeks, and every single day thereafter! This pregnancy has been all around, totally different than the last!

Agreeing with everybody. When pg with my DD I barely felt her the entire pregnancy. Really. With the other two I felt them pretty regularly ... and this one is just doin' the cha-cha all day. :shrug

If you're concerned, call the doctor/midwife *today* and ask for an emergency appointment. Assuming everything's fine, at the very least it will ease your mind ... and the last thing a pregnant mama needs is additional stress ... :)

I am also 18 weeks, and have only felt a few little twinges here and there. But we just had an ultrasound and I know everything is fine. With ds, I didn't feel anything until around 20 weeks or so. I'm looking forward to feeling more constant movements.

I really don't know if it has anything to do with it, but since the moment I found out I was pregnant, I just had a feeling that this was a more mellow baby than ds. And when we had our ultrasound, our technician was joking around about how mellow this baby was.

And I also bought one of those hearbeat things when I was pregnant with ds - never heard anything but my own heartbeat and digestion noises!
