Can you expect them to return at about the same time your normal cycle has always occured? Later than usual? Jody

i have had cycles change in length, intensity, and duration for all my pregnancies... live birth, miscarriage and abortion. it seems that every time i get pregnant, the cycle system gets reset somehow and it takes a while to settle into something new.
it also tended to shorten... i used to have longer cycles (28-29 days) that were very regular, then just before i got pregnant this time, i was down to 21 days that were not terribly regular.
one good thing seemed to be that the cramping and pain, in general, got less with each pregnancy, too.
maybe i'm just strange, though!

There is a wide range of normal so it is kind of hard to say.
Some women's cycles start right back up like clock work and others take a while to come back.

Jody, this is one of those times we want a textbook answer when there is none.
Like Abimommy said the range is wide and when your cycle returnes will be as unique as your pregnancy.
In most cases it seems that the cycle returns to normal in about 3 months - this is just my personal observation - nothing scientific at all.
How are you feeling now?

Thanks for asking as well as all other replies. I am doing fine. I was thinking I might be pg again as I have gone about 5 days beyond what was my normal since I had m/c but timing was not indicative of getting pg and no pg symptoms and so I finally took a test which was neg as well. Then I started spotting a little bit today. I just can't decide if I want to actively ttc at this point. I have left over baby fever and a baby would be so lovely. So many fun things to look forward to as they grow.

Jody for what it's worth the textbook answer, that is the general guideline that may or not apply to you is that most women get the first post m/c period 4-6 weeks after their m/c. (Though 7-8 weeks are not unheard of)
My first post m/c cycle was bvery strange spotting, 3 days bleeding lightly, no bleeding, 2 days bleeding, 3-4 days spotting.
Other people I read about reported, both heavier more crampy periods, and lighter shorter periods. So really just about anything can happen while your body is getting back into balance.
