I am a newbie here. Why are posts moved? I would like to start a "cyber conversation" with someone but it seems that a few of my posts have been moved to places that are deemed more appropriate. Why is that?
I want to introduce myself to YOU ALL. I am Elyice - SAHM, no vaxing, Aping moderately ( I could explain that), sleep sharing, anti circing, BFing until my boobs hit the ground, cloth diapering (Starbunz baby!) closet junk food eating 29 year old Chica.

Is the board so small that everyone just jumps from forum to forum? or do people pick a thread and respond forever. What's the dish ladies?

I think a lot of people just have a few forums here at MDC that they hang out in. I was posting here for quite a while before I realized there were forums besides Diapering. :o

I believe the mods often move posts to facilitate "cyber conversation." Breastfeeding topics are more likely to get responses in the breastfeeding forums, cloth diaper topics in the diapering forum, etc. And actually, it's probably because these forums are so BIG. If they weren't broken down into various topics, people would have to wade through 9 pages everyday to find the 2 posts on the topic that interests them.

HTH, and welcome. :D

I've found that people here tend to go to each part of the boards as if they would be wandering around the Great Maz House in Ursula Le Guinn's The Telling. That is, everyone enters and joins or not each conversation. If you are interested in vaccination issues, you also can be interested in circumcision, or diapers, or books or who else is from your area (Tribal Areas) or whatever. So, you see the same names on all the parts of the boards. (Well, some of us don't really head into all the bits...I myself have only been on diapering a couple of times...I figured out what I needed before I even had the little one and stuck with it and don't really care about the threads in diapering...but a lot of people do! :D )

So, as people tend to go to stuff for information, you'd be best off posting something under the relevant board title.

For introductions, there is a part called Pleased to Meet you.

And, in case you are worried about no one seeing your introduction, frankly, most of us hit the "View New Posts" button in the upper right (but not on the Mothering title bar) of the main page to see all the latest. (That appears after you log in.) So, whatever is new since we last logged in, no matter where it is, appears there.

There are some people who never go to Activism. Some who just stay in Diapering. Some who I WISH would spend more time in Books.... (:p )

Happy reading! :wave

We try to keep conversations on topic for each particular forum. If it does not really fit anywhere else, this (TAO) is where it belongs. We would like members to be comfortable and browse the other forums rather than staying in 1 place. Many people here do not know that other boards exist besides diapering. :LOL

That being said, I am moving this to Questions and Suggestions. That is our forum for asking questions of the mods and administrators about the board and it's workings.:hippie

You might want to put the info (BF'ing, etc.) in your intro. into your profile. After a while, we sometimes lose track of people's original intro and only click on the profile to remember who's who.

Personally, I love seeing a detailed profile. :D
