Hi, I haven't posted in this forum before:). My name is Kari and I have two boys ages 3.5 and 2. Lately, my 3 yr old has been coming in our bed in the middle of the night every night. He hasn't slept with us since he was about a year old and has done fine in his own bed. Last night we found him in our bed before we even went to bed. He was in there with the light on, fast asleep in the middle of the bed.:LOL This doesn't really bother me, but is it common for them to go through phases like that after they have moved out of your bed? Our two yr old isn't really in our bed much, probably only an hour or so before we all get up. We have a queen size bed and I'm just worrying because we are ttc and of course the baby will be sleeping with us and I don't think it would work out too well to have 5 in a bed:LOL

We didn't co-sleep with our 4 year old from the start. He moved from his crib to a toddler bed at 13mos. He slept on his own, in his own room until he was 2 years old. My husband was in a car accident, and from then on, Tyler slept in our bedroom with us. There was a 3mos. time period where he spent part of the night in his room (right after we got him his new big boy bed!), but then shortly before Braden was born, Tyler was back in our room, and he's been in with us ever since. We now have a twin sized mattress next to our queen. He's 4 years old now. We finally had to put an extra mattress in our room, because when he would come in our room in the night he'd sleep at our feet like a puppy. Not comfy at all! It's great now though, I wish with all my heart that we had co-slept with him from the beginning.

We have slept with the boys since birth, they are almost 6 and almost 4 now and in the next few weeks we are moving them into the same room. Safety in numbers :LOL We are TTC #3 so we kind of need to be alone :LOL

I have read that around age 3 kids are now more aware of things that can go wrong, and bad stuff thus making them want to sleep with mommy and daddy more. I say as long as you don't mind him in there, start him off in his bed and let him wander in. When #2 comes you can do HRC does and put a mattress in your room or what we do right now which is dh with ds #2 in our bed and me with ds #1 in the spare room. We truly love co-sleeping, good luck!
