Is there a way to influence the length of your labor? either durring labor or before, without the use of drugs (including herbs) or intervention?

I don't mean getting labor to start, what I mean is the duration of time you are laboring...from the first true birth contractions to a baby in your arms.

Thanks for any helpful information or links to it:)

Well, using positions that facillitate progress- in other words, walking and staying upright vrs. laying down the whole time.... having said that though, listening to your body's cues is imprtant. If you need rest, rest, if you feel like moving around, move around. Also being mentally ready for labor- some women tend to hold back if there is an underlying emotional issue. I had one client who was worried about what the change of having a baby would mean for her relationship. She needed to talk about all of it with her partner, only then did her labor pick up when she felt the issue was resolved.

Excellent nutrition, visualize a quick labor, then give in to good, STRONG, contractions - being open to YOUR experience.

Where are you coming from on this?
