DD #2 is 3 months old and is a great sleeper at night. She sleeps about 12 hours with 1-3 quick nursings in the middle, which is just peachy with me.

However, during the day, she only likes to nap on me in the sling or other carrier. And now that she's getting more curious, she doesn't sleep well that way. She used to sleep for hours like that, and now it's 30 min max.

I'd really like to be able to put her down so that I can play with DD#1 and so that she knows that it's ok to nap on her own. I really don't want to carry a napping 20 pounder in a few months!

DD #1 napped for hours at a time after nursing to sleep, but DD#2 doesn't like to nurse to sleep and I'm not sure that I want her to depend on a breast in her mouth to sleep. I hear about all of these people who lay their drowsy baby down and the baby sleeps. Not mine! She'll go all day with barely a nap.

CIO isn't an option for me, not only because I don't like it, but because DD won't really cry to sleep, I don't think. She just lays there and plays. Why doesn't she want to nap more? I've tried nursing, rocking, rubbing her back, etc. We even bought a swing, which isn't really our kind of thing. She just giggles.

Any great nap out of arms suggestions? I'll try almost anything that leaves my heart feeling good.

PS- I think some of what she likes about the sling is that it's more comfortable with her reflux stuff.

Have you tried to get her to sleep in the sling and then putting her down and slippign out of the sling? This is what I did with dd when she was that age. I had a ring sling, so whenever I had to put her down, I placed her on her bed and unthreaded the sling. She usually didn't wake up. :)

Great idea, Kate! I have a pouch, not a ring sling. All that fabric makes me nuts! I tried it many times, but haven't tried in a few weeks. Maybe I'll give it a go again. The problem with a pouch is that it's a bit tangly around the legs when I let her down. I have a Baby Bjorn too and could try letting her out of that, but that seems to feel a little like falling. Thanks for the tip!!!
