Does anyone know if Mother's Milk tea is okay to drink during pregnancy? DD is only 10 months old and she came down with rotovirus last week and gave it to me over the weekend. I have always struggled with low-milk supply and now it seems that my supply is nearly gone. I am 6 weeks pregnant. I called to ask my midwife yesterday and she was suppose to call me back, but did not. We made a dr's visit today for a follow-up appointment for dd and I asked the dr. and she did not know and didn't even offer to find out for me. I'm desperate here. It is so sad to see dd try to nurse for a few minutes and then get angry b/c she is hungry and wants to nurse and there's not much milk. Thanks ladies.

If you are referring to Traditional Medicinals Mother's Milk Tea that you can buy at the store, the package specifically states not to be used while pregnant unless under recommendation from a practitioner trained in medical herbalism.
Looking at the ingredients list on the side of the box, the fennel seed would cause me some concern (it was used in traditional societies to prevent pregnancy), and the fenugreek seed would also cause me concern (generally not recommended in pregnancy). Also the essential oils that are present might be concerning, but I know they are in small amounts.
If you are interested in continuing to use the Mother's Milk Tea, I would consult with an herbalist so they can get a whole picture of your health status.

Thanks for your insight. I'm not really sure how I'm gonna' get my supply back up, but I will keep your suggestions in mind.

Thanks so much for that link! I know I'm probably not getting enough calories. I'm trying hard to eat enough, but I'm in that early pregnancy phase where nothing at all sounds good to eat and when I try to eat I often feel nauseous. I will try some of those suggestions. Thanks.
