Well, me and Piglet aare about to be 11 weeks! :D Nausea is subsiding, I have even gone w/o my bracelet! I mean it goes sooooooooo well with everything. :shake I have heaved though, thinking I'm gonna toss. Now, my blessings consist of, "Lord, please let this stay down." He answers! \o/
Question: Weeeeeeeell...what can I ask....who has gas? :LOL Wow! I contributed to air pollution all last night and dh got *up and told me I was disgusting! I felt this *awful anal pressure and when I shot the breeze I felt better. :shrug
I think more of a ladylike question would be fess up! who's bought something!
I've got a rings rattle, 2 diaper gardens, and some sugarplumbabies I just got last week. I think that's it. I got a bottle cleaner, since I needed one for my water bottle, I just got one for bottles. Now I'm :bfing so..I guess I'll just use it for the water bottles.
God bless your families and those blessing from God inside of you! :D Its starting to hit me and I have been so thankful! And :w to our new mamas! OK, chat away!

I had my massage Sat. after my adjustment and man..... it was so great. I think she did a little Reiki on me at the end and she was nurturing and motherly. It was just what I needed. Feeling pretty good. Going for my 1st prenatal visist on Weds and looking very forward to hearing babys heart. I think I'm going into week 12. I'm slightly irriatable lately. I feel real bad but I just wish DS would be a little independent today. He has been next to me every moment for weeks! It is so sweet too though. Bittersweet I guess is a better way to describe it. As far as being gassy goes:jaw . I have been since the start of this pregnancy.
I have been getting winded and dizzy a little bit here lately. Wondering if it's an iron issue or blood pressure. I have VERY low bp and it was a slight problem with #1 (I passed out) So I look forward on getting the skinny on that. Feeling fat but no weight gain as of yet.

wannab - thanks SO much!! :love
I was stuck in the lab today and didn't have time to post this thread.
My dinner-time nausea is still around. Went on a nice binge this weekend. Ate a bag of cheesy poofs and had perogies for dinner - the frozen kind, lol. What crap!
I haven't bought anything for baby yet. Other than diapers, we pretty much have everything we need. Unless this is a boy, lol. Also, we're not sure if we'll be moving before the birth (may go back home, god willing!!) so don't want to accumulate any stuff yet if we just have to move it all!
Gas? Oh yeah. But strangely, it isn't the kind that "escapes the usual way", lol. It's all in my UPPER digestive tract. My mid section gets visibly bloated and I feel all puffed up around my middle. I can feel the gas bubbling around in there, lol. A good toot would probably feel good, LOL. Instead, I'm doing Maalox shooters, heh heh.

GAS? Well today I was:o :LOL But it doesn't bother dh too much:) And it isn't an everyday thing.
Anyone else having a hard time drinking water? Sometimes I am fine but the thought makes me gag. The one thing I drink that tastes so good and makes me feel better is 7up. I consumed a lot of 7up when I was pg with Samuel. It is the first thing I have in the morning and it chases the icky feelings away:thumb
Hope everyone has a great week:D

I'm wearing my maternity pants today! :banana
And I really do look pregnant! :love
I'm craving Orangina. They don't sell it in this backwater town. :(
I drank it alot during my last PG. Anybody know this stuff? It's real orange juice with fizzy stuff, lol.

Ugh! The m/s is horrible for me this time and the last 2 weeks have been pretty boring for my kids since we've just stuck to the house-they've been so good about it but I feel so guilty!
I have the m/s even when I wake up at 3am to go pee-I hate it! I don't throw up every day but I gag all the time-even 2x as i type this :( I've been trying to eat good but it ends up being comfort foods that help the most-of course the high calorie carb stuff!
I need to try those sea bands I think I've heard others try-anything at this point! I'm only 8wks so have about 5 more wks of this misery if it follows the schedule of my last 2.
As far as shopping...I'm so weak. I bought 1 new BabySoftwraps AIO and 2 little things from a consighment store- a fleece vest and cute little Gap striped jumper for a boy. That's all so far but once garage sale season starts in a few weeks I'll be buying a lot more!
Take care
Ann

I have this ache in my lower back. Really closer to my butt.:( Dh has become a massuese. These cravings are nuts! I was in yogalates and wanted chicken rice soup--Campbells. I don't *eat canned soup! Then I was in the store (that's why u don't go hungry), and I saw Krispy Kremes. I got two. Then I couldn't decide if I wanted a salad with green olives. I wasn't sure and came home. Now guess what! :shake I *just got home! I didn't eat the soup, btw. And the KK made me sick when I got on the second one, so its still sittin here. Its just insane. I feel like my brain is misfiring! I have so *many cravings at once! The baby is growing! I got an email from a site I'm on,and its just amazing! This is an awesome gift from God! :love

Piglet-
Of course they sell Orangina in Cleveland!!!
:rotflmao :rotflmao :rotflmao :rotflmao
It's one of dh's favorite drinks, we always have it in our fridge! And cheer up, once Spring/Summer gets here, Cleveland is a lot nicer. This is just the disgusting part of the year. :D When summer gets here, try to get to the Emerald Necklace and explore as much as you can. It is really lovely. And where I live, in the CVNP, it is gorgeous. Come see Peninsula! I live right on the towpath in the heart of the National Park. It's beautiful.

hello! doing pretty good here...feel fine...i seem to be really sensitive to smells. i never want to throw up or anything, some things just make me go "EEWWWWW" , kwim? don't really remember that with the other 3.
i had to recertify for Newborn Resusitation this am and was able to tell a couple of good friends from the hospital, including asking the dr who has assited with my section on the previous two. i asked him what he was doing in Oct...he's like "oct, hmmm, am i going to assist on a section?" i said "yeppers!" that was fun.
so all the spotting i had a couple weeks ago stopped the middle of last week and then yesterday i started having this drk brown discharge...i'm assuming just old blood from the implantation bleed that has just worked it's way out. my dr agreed. i can't wait till next week when i can go to the OB floor and try and listen to the HB, i'll be 10 wks...kinda nice being an OB nurse and being able to just go up there whenever i get a hankering to have me a listen...:D
have a blessed day, everyone!

It's funny you mention Orangina. I drank it for 2 summers straight while in Italy and never had it over here. Yesterday I was grocery shopping and noticed it and thought that sounded pretty darn good! I didn't get any though, but all this talk is making me wish I would have! I guess on my next avacado run I'll grab some.

hahahha, i haven't had orangina in years but they have it at the regular grocery store here. now that you mention it, that sounds pretty good! my food situation is still pretty messed up, but like ann i'm only at 8 weeks (and 3 days!) so i suspect this will last for a while still.
my first pregnant appointment with my midwife is next friday - less than two weeks away! i will be 9 weeks 6 days at that point and she plans to listen for the heart and i guess take a bunch of blood for various tests. i'm so excited! i've decided after hearing the heart beat i will celebrate by buying something for the baby, probably some cute diaper type purchase.
as for my ladylike gas, it isn't super bad but a couple evenings i have deflated rather impressively. it always feels so good afterwards!

I love Orangina! I've only had in Europe, though I did start seeing it here, just can't remember where. We've been on a kick of mixing celtzer water with all different kind of juices around here. It's so good. I haven't bought anything for the baby yet, still waiting. I go to the midwife tomorrow for my first prenatal and cannot wait to hear the heartbeat.
The sicky feeling has pretty much passed, which is weird cause I was sick until 4 months w/ the first, and I'm just 10 weeks right now. Oh and the lovely sciatic pain has made it's appearance, only this time it's on both sides. For me the pain starts in my butt and shoots down the back of my legs. Oh well. I can't believe some of you look pregnant already, I wanna look pregnant!
Ds went for a whole 7 hours yesterday w/ out nursing, it was Heaven. Nursing is becoming unbearable, it feels like someone chewing on a sunburn. I have to stop him in the middle of it sometimes and he gets so upset. I just don't know how much longer I can take. Hopefully he'll keep slowing down.
Take care everyone!

Is *that what it is? :yikes: Folks at church are sayin that they can't believe I'm as far along as I saw b/c I'm so big! They say its a big baby (nooooooo...I wanna deliver vaginially) or twins. They don't believe the baby will fit in the nb dipes I got! I have been pg before; but, m/ced in the first tri. I know yall second timers poke early; but, I wonder what bearing *my first pg would have. Or, is it just I'm eating sooooooo badly. :hide:
Pig, I'm right behind ya with maternity pants. Now if only I *feel like going shopping.

Sorry to all of you dealing with the sickies. was feeling nauseaus for about two weeks there, but I haven't felt that in a couple of days. With DD I never felt sick.
No extra gas or digestive problems here, but my nipples are sore, sore, sore. Last night, I was about to go crazy, DD kept waking up and wanting to nurse, nurse, nurse and it was making me bonkers. I am also really tired and IRRITABLE. DH said I was moody with DD, as well, I don't remember that, but I am defintiely moody this time.
I haven't bought anthing yet. I am holding off till I am a little more sure about this pregnanct, and until I actually have money to spend LOL. Plus, I keep hoping someone will offer to give me all their old baby clothes. I am really sure this is a boy, so we will need all sorts of boy clothes, and I will need diapers, since I didn't start CD'ing until DD was 18 months, but I am holding off on those as well. I also will need a double stroller and a carseat, but that is it. We are waiting on those things.
I am only 8 weeks, but I swear I look really pregnant. My pants still fit, but I think that is because I wear them low, on my hips all the time, and I seem to have pooched out high. I totally have this stomach that sticks out. Can't wait until I am 8 months, I willl be HUGE!!

I've now gone two whole days without feeling icky and vomiting (knock on wood...)! Can it really be that this morning sickness is over just like that, literally overnight? I'm looking forward to actually ENJOYING food again! This also means that I really start to eat better. For the past month or so I've really not had good eating habits- lots of junk that baby doesn't need, but at the time I was really only concerned about what I could keep down...no more excuses now!
Gas? Definately. A couple of nights ago was the worst. My husband said that everytime I rolled over I let out a thunderous toot! I even woke myself up a couple of times because they were so, um...so loud...:o Nothing ladylike about that, eh? Oh well.
I'm excited because tonight we have an appointment to interview with a homebirth midwife! The thought of a homebirth is scary, but the hospital scares me even more! I certainly don't want to be confined to a bed with moniters and IVs everywhere. I've been working all afternoon on a list of questions for her...I think I've come up with a pretty exhaustive set of questions!
Oh, and Orangina. Yes, many health food stores carry it (although I should add that it isn't really a health food, more of just a fancy soda!) but you can also buy it in many regular grocery stores, especially more upscale ones. Look in their gourmet foods section. Oh, I've also seen it frequently at international/ethnic grocery stores too. Yummy!

Well we survived our weekend without dad. But boy oh boy, was I ever happy to see my husband walk through that door on Monday morning. 4 days of being the only parent is really, really really hard when you're pregnant. I'm way too embarrassed to say how many times my son watched the movie A Toy Story. I was just so tired and by 4 in the afternoon all I wanted him to do was just be still. So on went his latest favourite movie and I could get a few moments of quiet.
You gals have been busy here and it looks like I have a bit of catching up to do. Okay the gas issue. Yes, yes, yes. Soooo gassy. Nothing I do seems to help except for just throwing social decorum out the window and tooting away. I haven't bought any baby stuff. We already have a lot of the essentials and when pregnant with my son I didn't actually buy anything 'till after I hit the halfway mark. I'll probably do the same with this one too.
wannabmommie - I totally understand about being big early. I was always being told that I must be carrying twins and by the time I was 7 months pregnant people on the street were saying "wow you must be due any day now!". Everybody carries differently, some of us gals just carry around a lot of baby! (And by the way, my son was big and born vaginally)
Is anyone else's brain going to mush or is it just me? I swear in a few months I'm going to have to write my name and address on a piece of paper just so that I don't get lost when I leave the house. I try to read a book or magazine and I find myself just blankly rereading the same sentence over and over again. I'll be having conversations with my friends and I'll have absolutely no vocabulary beyond "you know that thing... what's it called again? That thingy?". Or today I went grocery shopping, just for few items, but I made sure to write out a list knowing that my mind is like Swiss cheese lately. And yet despite the list, I still forgot to buy milk, juice, bananas and bread. Looks like I'm going to be making another trip. Although I'm sure I'll forget something else.

Hey I am not on the roll call!! LOL then again I am horrible about checking in....sorry I am a busy woman....;) (aren't we all though right?)
Letia, gas is my middle name, this baby is SO different from the others (shoot the pink vibes here people) the first three I had no big problem with gas, I was horny as all get out, and never sick, this time I am a HUGE gas bubble, could care less about sex, and was as sick as a dog! LOL
Now I am 12 weeks and not feeling bad at all, thank goodness, the jeans are getting a bit tight but not looking pregnant yet.
I am glad everyone seems to be doing well, Letia I am SO thrilled for you really, I am glad we are due close! :D

Here's praying you'll get a girl! :D
Dh is sooooooo glad the gas has subsided; but, I gave him and eviction notice for the bed. :angry

AnnR3, I know exactly what you mean by gagging all the time, but not throwing up all the time.
Luckily, around last week sometime (9 weeks), the m/s just seemed to disappear. I was worried, but 2 days laters it came back in full swing. Now it seems to be slowly subsiding - each day is getting better!
Piglet, I also have dinner time nausea. The only thing that seems to work for me is to spread dinner out over about 4 hours! Lol!!! I start eating at about 4, and then just keep snacking until 7 or 8. I have a salad, then 20 minutes later have a small bowl of soup, then maybe a little mashed potatos. It's completely inefficient, and I'm not always able to do it, but it seems to get me through 6PM w/o throwing up!!!

i guess i didn't answer the question of the week....must be that preggy brain, huh?
gas....ummmm....since before i got my BFP! it's settled down since the first couple weeks, but yes, it's still there!
i don't really *need* to buy anything for baby (unless it's a girl...:LOL) this being #4 and all. i do need to make my stash of nb dipes as the ones i made for ds#3 were prefolds and i don't like them. if anyone is interested in them, i would be willing to sell or trade them, i don't really know how many there are, couple dozen maybe. they are made from flannel and terry cloth middles.
we finally told the older boys tonite about the baby. they were pretty excited. of course they would be thrilled with a sister! but we made sure they uderstood that whether it's a girl OR another brother, that that is who God wanted us to have. i'm sure we'll have to tell them that more than once before Oct.
has anyone had implantation bleeding before? if so, did you have prolonged brown discharge? i still have brown tinged discharge. i know that brown indicates old blood, but i wish it would stop already, ya know?
have a good sleep! :love

I forgot about the question of the week, too!!!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gassy. I am a farting machine. Gross, huh? My 2yo dd says, "Ewwww, mommy farted AGAIN!!!!"
I also look pregnant. Really pregnant. I think I look 4-5 months, really, instead of 3. Dh referred to my tummy as "the babies" today. I said, "What?" He said, "the baby." I was like, "That's not what you said." He said, "I know. It wasn't intentional." Wonder if it's just because of my tummy size, or because he has a premonition.....
BTW, a bit OT, but Letia! You can birth a big, healthy baby vaginally!!! Just recently an MDCer had an 11+lb babe vaginally. Your body is meant to birth! Eat lots of healthy foods and try to grow the biggest healthiest babe you can. Most stories of CPD are very inaccurate diagnoses.
Hope ya'll are doing well! :wave

Hey girls! I have been:rotflmao at the gas and the mush brain....
On the mush brain, I was leading worship a couple weeks ago and just went *blank! I could *not remember the words. I started singing in a different language I don't know...I started throwing some words in there....not easy when u're singing in English, at least when I was singing classically, noone would know the difference. :LOL I've been stackin J-cards on the podium and I can't *see those, so I might have to print songsheets for *me!
I want to do this naturally; but, the thought of pushing a person out of my vagina is bad enough;but, a *big person....God help me! :yikes:
Ann, glad to hear from you. I don't like not hearing from yall, which reminds me, where's Amy? :scratch
Did someone mention smell aversions? No longer is Jason Lavender Body Wash welcome in our home. I removed it from the shower. :gross Iwoke up to it yesterday am, and I said that's it!
I'm tired. I try to stay up til 9:00 so I won't get up at night. yeah right. That really hadn't been workin for me.

Letia,
Maybe you could find a Birthworks class in your area. They help you deal with a lot of birth-related fears and anxiety, and give you a new insight on birthing as powerful, natural, and beautiful. :thumb They have helped a lot of women I know overcome obstacles to birth and have successful, positive experiences. (And they're heaps better then Hospital-led classes, which pretty much teach you how to be a Good Patient. )
Sorry if the is :OT or rude, but I wish someone had told me about different classes when I was pregnant for the first time!!!

LMAO Thanks Letia! :D I am due 10-11-04! :D I am hoping for a girl too, but I don't think I wouldn't be disappointed if it was another boy, we do well with boys! ;)
As for the gagging and stuff too, I haven't had this problem with this pregnancy but with Jaden (my #2) I could only eat a small amount of food, and then on the 'last' bite I would gag terribly, as soon as I did that it was over, couldn't eat another bite.
And the aversions and smell problems were awful then too, now at nearly 12 weeks I am feeling great and this PG is way different than the others! ;)

Hello ladies!
Ugh. Last night was the second in a row of this weird insomnia I'm having. I wake up at 4 am and I'm sooooo tired but I cannot fall back asleep until dawn. Then DD wakes up and that's it. DH has been so sweet, trying to distract her so I can sleep some more. This morning she was SO needy of me, I ended up going back to bed at 9:30 and sleeping until 11! :eek
I'm still feeling that icky feeling. Like Futuremama said, healthy eating is a secondary issue, it's more about "what do I feel like eating that doesn't make me instantly want to barf"! Less than 2 weeks before I enter the 2nd trimester - I'm hoping it disappears as instantly as they say!
Oh, I have to get this off my chest and whine (get out your tiny violins everybody): I want to buy diapers and slings but I'm SOOOO BROKE right now!!! :crying We're trying to pay off some debt so we're on a strict budget. BUT...we're also selling some property and as soon as it comes through I'm going on a DIAPER SHOPPING SPREE!!! And if it doesn't sell in time, I'm just going to bite the bullet and hit my mother up for an advance, lol. So I just have to hang in there. WAAAAHHH!
edited to add: I'm sorry if I slagged Cleveland - I'm in a real bad head space right now with wanting to be back home. I *am* however, releived to hear they have Orangina. I asked at Giant Eagle and the guy had never heard of it. Should have known better to just check the imports aisle. YUM!!!!

Just wanted to post that I had my first prenatal today and we heard the heartbeat for the first time! Yay! It took some searchin' but she finally found it loud and clear at 155bpm. Ds was so good during the appointment, he even learned the word "speculum." It was such a great experience and such a relief to know that everything checked out okay.
As far as gas goes, I get a lot of that upper dig. tract gas too, and it's so painful. I try to burp a lot to prevent the agony of waiting for it to work it's way out. Seems to be getting better though. I'm in such a good mood today! I really do have a little baby living inside of me. I'm in love with it already.

Well I had my first mw pre-natal visit today. I'm not overly excited about this practice. I did get to hear the baby though! So nice! I've been secretly nervous. I have a close friend who was just a week behind me and last week at her mw appointment they couldn't find the hb. Well after ALOT of ultrasound time they discovered baby looked good and properly developed, it just wasn't living. :crying It makes me so sad. We were totally excited to have 2 more babies so close in age. Everything for a reason and in time I guess.

Piglet- I don't mid if you're down about Cleveland right now! Just wanted to let you know that it DOES get nicer here, and we DO have Orangina. :D
I went to an Old Navy with Maternity in my area and got a couple of nice things. I REALLY REALLY needed them!

I'm so happy for you all who've gotten to hear the heart beat already:heartbeat. I still have 6 more days to go before my midwife appointment and I get to hear my little one's heart beat. Ugg I feel like I've been waiting for ever!
It's heart breaking to read about your friend mommadance. I have to admit that having the same thing happen to me is that horrible nagging fear I have way in the back of my mind. :hugs to your friend.
I've had 2 whole days of no nausea!!!:banana I don't want to jinx anything but I'm starting to feel normal (well pregnant normal) again. I actually ate dinner last night and had a normal helping AND was hungry for more! This pregnacy's nausea seems to be following the same pattern as it did with my son. Like last time I got really, really sick (I mean couldn't stomach anythign sick) for two days and then *poof* nausea gone. Almost like the first trimester's having one last hurrah.
Oh and I just wanted to chime in on the Orangina subject. YUM YUM! Love it! It's my special little treat to myself from time to time.

I'm gaining power, losing speed, womdering as I near your door
Will you hold it open for this tidal wave aproaching shore?
Youve become an Island, in the hazy world surrounging me
Offering a vast reward, eachtime I safely cross the sea
Far too often I become lost, in the fog and haze
Cllinging still against my will, to promises of clearer days
I am just a raindrop that accelerates without control
Losing bits and pieces in decent 'til I'm no longer whole
I am just another shooting star, above that you may see
Until I have your full attention, I'll be anything but Me
I thought these lyrics were just perfect for where are babys are in the developmental scheme of things. (there point of view I guess)
I found this very moving.
:D :D :D
happy day to all!

Ok. here's the skinny on why I wasn't crazy about the mw I met with yesterday. We were discussing pre-natal testing and she starts rattling off all the test I WILL have. When shes finished I say " But of course if I don't want any of these that's ok too. I'm not interested in any, and at the top of that is the strep B" her response " Well, we'll do everything we can to convince you that it's best for your baby" Me " well, I tested positive while pregnate with Miles, was given an IV of antibiotics and Miles still became sepsis and was given SHOTS twice a day for 2 weeks of an anti-biotic" Her " I understand you may be concerned about mobility..." uh what's that? did you not hear my son was exposed twice to anti's befor he was 2 days old!!!!????????? Are you listening? and she closes with "well the last thing any of us want is a dead baby!" WTF!??
As I'm posting this she just called and told me she'd like to make clear it's her position that I won't be tested for the strep B, I'll automatically be put on anti's. Is that a problem for me? Uh yes mam it's a problem! So ends our relationship and the search continues!
Unbelievable!

I've never experienced gas like this! With ds it wasn't this bad, now it's every ten min :eek
when we were at the coast this last week, ds kept walking up to people and telling them that mom likes to fart:rolleyes:
I think I just got my first case of hemorrhoids too. This is the worst feeling ever! Driving to the coast and back I thought I was going to die.
Does anyone here suffer from gestational diabetes? I've been going crazy when I don't eat for a while, I get really slugish and my mind goes south. I have low bs, but this is totally dif. One of my clients was telling me about her husband being type 2 and it's 90 percent controlled by diet. When she started telling me his symptoms, it sounded like what I had. I have an appt. with the doc. again soon, but I can't stop worring about it.
Hope everyone is doing well and getting lots of rest

Momadance-
You did the right thing firing your midwife. :splat How insensitive of her!!!
Good luck on your search for a new midwife...
When I was pregnant with my dd, I switched at 22wks to a practice with half midwives and half OBs. I figured I could get the best of borth worlds...I thought the OBs were probably pretty progressive to work with MWs, and if something "happened" I could have an OB as my backup. Grrrrr...the midwives were just like standard OBs, forcing tests on me, giving me internals every couple of weeks, and abandoning me in labor and conforming to hospital protocol instead of the midwives model of care. It sucked sooooo bad. This time, I found a Direct Entry Midwife. Coule you look for one of those in your area instead of a CNM? Nurse Midwives are often very similar to OBs, nurse practitioners, and nurses. (BUT Not always, of course!)

Momadance - Good for you on looking for a new midwife. That one definately sounds like a problem!
Gas - Well, if I was experiencing more, at least I'd have some ammo against hubby's , hee-hee! I always tease my hubby for having sympathy flatulence, lol!
Had our first real midwife appointment and it was great! There are 3 midwives who work from the clinic and we will get a chance to get to know all three of them. It's very casual with a cosy atmosphere there. I think it's going to be great!
I'm going to revise my due date again. It's actually Oct 8. I am at 12 weeks todayaccording to the midwives wheel.!
We got to hear the :heartbeat ! 160 bpm.
I really didn't think they would be able to find it, but they did! What a wonderful sound! I'm so excited now because of it!
Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Hi everyone!! Been away in freezing Boston for the week....we arrived to 10 inches of snow!!! DS got to play in snow for the first time which was neat (though he was really not impressed by it) but I am glad to be back in the warmth.
M/s is taking it's toll. For the first time the other night, I really really thought I was going to throw up. It has moved from generalized ickiness all day to some daytime ickiness that gradually increases as the day progresses til I feel like total crap at night. I'm 9 weeks now, I really hope it lets up soon. And I'm so tired I'm going crazy. I have to pee 3x a night. :zzz :zzz :zzz

hi!
i'm happy to hear that some of you are starting to have a break from your morning sickness! like truebluexf i'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and mine is still mostly getting worse. i'm not actually puking which is nice, but mostly i don't feel good and it's hard to eat but i'm sort of constantly hungry. mine is worst around dinner and bedtime too. i'm looking forward to liking food (and sex) again but it makes me smile as it constantly reminds me that i'm pregnant! (as if i'd forget...)
kraftykrafty and everyone who has heard the heartbeat already - congratulations! that is so exciting! i'm really looking forward to my appointment in 1 week when my midwife is planning to listen for sproglets heartbeat. i'll be one day shy of 10 weeks at the time (or a couple over if you go by LMP) so it's a bit early but i hope she can find it.
my brain has felt all mushy lately too. i've had to work extra hard to get my work done. it's really hard for me to concentrate when i'm constantly thinking, "yay i'm pregnant!!!" oh - and wannabmommie - your story about making up the words singing cracked me up! :D
and i'm also excited to grow enough to need to go get some maternity clothes! old navy is my store of choice too but i think it'll be another few weeks - my pants aren't even tight at all since i normally wear them loose.
i hope everyone is doing well!

Hello Ladies - This week's topic is cracking me up. Most of my gas has been in the form of burps - and lots of them. I actually caught myself burping loud and proud in a work meeting the other day. Thankfully, there was only one person in the room at the time and she knows I'm pregnant. We had a good laugh over that one.
Haven't bought any baby things or maternity clothes yet, but I've definitely put my toe into the water to see what's out there. I have a good friend who is a month ahead of me, she's raving about the pants with the three-inch stretchy bands at the top. Some clothes aren't fitting anymore, but I still have plenty that are on the 'big' side that are still working for me. (But personally, I can't wait to get into maternity closthes - silly, eh?)
We had our 2nd visit to the OB today. She tried to hear the heartbeat, but says it's pretty hard to find until about 12 weeks. We're at about 10.5 weeks today, so she was very assuring this is normal.
I had a vaginal ultrasound during my first visit, so we know it's only one baby and progressing right along. :thumb

Hello...
I am 10 weeks now and my m/s is just starting to let up some. I am very excited about everyones posts that they are starting to feel better. The orangina (that everyone was talking about) sounds really good... I have been making a yummy lemonade mixture that my son loves. I will pass it along, since it also seems to make my tummy feel better.
Toddler lemonade
2 Tbsp White grape juice concentrate
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
1 1/2 cups water or sparkling water
I usually mix this up with a few ice cubes and it tastes delicious! It reminds me a lot of Lemon Recharge.
I am feeling really pregnant this week. Only one person at work has guessed that I am pregnant so far, but it was only because I was caught eating smoked oysters. :o I bought a pair of maternity jeans, because I cannot stand to have any pressure on my abdomen and I have already had a number of drama queen mornings where I threw myself on my bed in tears because I had nothing to wear and just looked fat. (It seems so silly to type this when I am not having a drama moment :) ).It will be nice when everyone knows that I am pregnant in a few more weeks. We are planning on waiting until 12 weeks, when we try to listen for the heartbeat for the first time.
I have been quite gassy too, but only when I eat green vegtables or dairy products. Theoretically I should be able to avoid these foods and be ok, but I crave them!
It is good to hear that everyone is doing so well! Sleep well...

Old Navy does have great maternity clothes. I went shopping there a few weeks ago and am loving the couple of items I bought. I bought the same pants that you have momadance except in the olive green. I would heartily recomend them to anyone. They are soooooo comfy! Although I have my suspicions about them fitting all the way through the thrid trimester.
:bgbounce It has been almost a week since I've had any nausea problems :bgbounce :bgbounce!!! It is so nice to able to cook dinner without having to quit because the smells are making me sick. And I can actually eat almost anything I want again (just as long as it is not too oniony or garlicy).
But there has been a tradeoff. Since my nausea has gone I have now developed the worst skin. My forhead, nose and chin have been breaking out like crazy and I've even found a few spots on my chest. I can't believe how oily my face is. My skin was never this bad in high school. So much for that lovely pregnancy glow.

I have these, too...dh refers to them as "Clothing Meltdowns." There are always tears, and I usually trash the bedroom in the process of my tantruming...clothes strewn everywhere as I madly try things on.
Now that I am 12 weeks, and I look pregnant, I haven't been having them as much. But I had quite a few in weeks 8-10. :D
I am LOVING this Old Navy jean jacket. I have worn it everyday...it goes with everything. :thumb And it's stretchy, so it is super comfy. (We sound like an Old Navy commercial)
I have been getting a lot of excercise lately...it's finally warming up here in Cleveland, so my dd and dh and dog and I have been going for tons of hikes. It feels so good after a sluggish winter.
I noticed, though that I get a bit crampy after I excercise. I am hoping that this is normal. We usually hike a mile or two...do you think I could be overdoing it?
Hope you all are well! :hug to all those still feeling queasy!

Well, great news! Seems two people are interested in our property and we should have an offer coming in soon. OLD NAVY HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucysmama: I went for a walk with DD today and it was truly the first real exercise I've had in months. I also felt crampy this evening, so I guess our bodies just aren't used to the fresh air and exercise!
I'm definitely looking pregnant now.
Do any of you not-my-first-pregnancy mamas feel a bit guilty that you aren't as obsessed with this PG as your first? Who has time with a toddler running around, right? :D but sometimes I feel like this baby is already getting shafted compared to DD.

Nah, I'm just as obsessed. Really. I had been TTC for sooo long, and that lends itself to obsession. So when I finally got pregnant, I guess I just switched my object of obsession. It's not my charts, my basal body temps, and my cervical fluids anymore - it's the baby and pregnancy. :p

I haven't really experienced any guilt yet about not really being in to this pregnancy but I think that that has a lot to do with that I wasn't all that obsessed with my first pregnancy either. I found the whole experience of pregnancy and birth so surreal that I was constantly having to remind myself that we were going to have a baby. A whole new person was growing inside me. I intellectually understood the process but in all honesty my brain just couldn't wrap itself around the idea that *I* was going to produce another human being. So of course I didn't really bond that strongly with my son in utero.
With this pregnancy, now that I've done this once before, I am much better prepared emotionaly to accept and understand the wonderous process of pregnancy, but I don't have the time to give it my full attention. I know that no matter how much time and attention I can give to really focus on our newest family member while pregnant, like it was with my son, I will fall madly in love with him/her once I lay eyes on them.

Feeling guilty for not obsessing with this pregnancy? Yes, but for different reasons... I am so NEGATIVE with this one since I've been so sick (much sicker than w/ my previous 2), tired, and feeling generally useless. My house is a mess and my DH is starting to complain. I keep thinking this is all a hint we shouldn't have gone for 3-but of course that's the m/s talking :o
I obsess now about food in that I eat what will be least offensive coming back up:( how terrible!
I know things will get better but I guess I'm just older and it's taking it's toll on me and I do have 2 kids this time to take care of.
OK, done whining....
As far as Old Navy-are their maternity clothes for "skinny" people or for bigger people too? I can wear their tops fine but their pants never fit me-my hips are too big or something. Just wondering if their mat pants may work for me-I'm actually small framed-about 130lbs now but am pear shaped so hips get me every time :( And i REALLY need pants too! Down to just 3 prs of ratty ones that fit now.
Trueblue-hope the spotting is nothing. I've had it all along and all is well so hope all is well with you too!
Take care everyone!!

Thought I'd check in and say I only had that one spot so I guess the little gummi bear just did some nuzzling around or something LOL. We had sex the night before, but the spot was towards the end of the day and red not brown so it had to be newer than that. At any rate, all seems well so I'm not concerned!!
I have my first midwife appt tomorrow. I can't wait, I hope we can hear the heartbeat (almost 10 weeks, should be able right???). I am really nervous about twins. I'm sicker than I was last time, which I know doesn't necessarily mean anything, but grandmother had twin pregnancies 3 of 4 times. :eek Fraternal twins, so the possibility is definitely there in my genes. I'm really hoping we can hear something and that there is just ONE in there. Twins would be so overwhelming....I mean, I could handle that though, what realy scares me is the birth of them. The OB's in town, well I would not trust any of them as far as I can throw them, and midwives can't deliver them at home in Florida. So fingers crossed (though like I said two would be as welcome as one in the end!).
Lucysmama
03-28-2004, 03:35 PM
Amy-
I am paranoid, too about twins...I started feeling movement around 10 weeks, and am very big. I was also excessively sick in the first trimester. And I have twins in my mom's family....deep down, I'm not really worried about it, but it has popped into my mind more than once recently. (And into my dreams!)
From what I understand, though - it's rare to diagnose twins just by hearing two heartbeats. Two swiftly beating hearts are often in synch, or disguise each other.
More likely is diagnosing them well into the second trimester based on other factors. So just cause you only hear one heartbeat tomorrow, doesn't mean you are not having twins!
I'm also having my first prenatal tomorrow!!! My m/w says it will be at least a two hour visit! I still haven't decided whether or not to use the doppler....

What might you do, Katie, wait to use the fetoscope? I'm undecided about it to. The last appt, I had I was told (10w3d),I was told the baby was behind the pubic bone and that we *might not be able to hear it and she didn't want me to get upset if I didn't. I was still undecided, and more confused after starting a thread on it v. u/s that I didn't push the issue and didn't. I can't remember how much longer a wait it is for the fetoscope.
I want some french fries w/ ranch dressing. (I heard it on tv and it sounds like a good idea. :shake)

I am way more obsessive about this pregnancy than I was with dd. With DD I didn't hang out on mothering or pregnancy boards, I just kinda did my thing. I didn't read all the sad stories about people losing babies and such, so I didn't really think a mc or birth defect or anything bad could happen. Now I have read of and heard all that stuff, and I am worried!
Now I am very obsessive, mostly fearful about losing this babe as well. I obsess over every little pregnancy sympton. My nipples have been less sore lately, which worries me. I haven't had any morning sickness or nausea in close to a week. I am trying to relax, but I just feel as though I can't. The only symptom which seems constant is tiredness and lots of discharge
I have the first mw appt late this week or early next week. I hope and pray I can hear a heartbeat. That will make me feel so much better.
True Blue
03-28-2004, 06:30 PM
Katie-- Oh great, you mean I still have to obsess about it??? WIth DS, I had an u/s at 8 wks due to spotting so we knew early on. Oh boy. Good luck at your appt tomorrow, can't wait to hear how it goes! :)
Speaking of midwife appts, do they usually do an internal?? My last one was going to do a pap, but we put it off til 2nd trimester since I was spotting. I suppose an internal would tell uterus size, but is it really necessary otherwise?
blessed2bamommie
03-28-2004, 07:07 PM
Weeeeeeeeeell....I am in a practice of mostly mws and I think maybe one OB. The NP seems to insist on an iternal. And, I think they want to know about the size of your pelvis? And see if your cervix is blue and to check for HPV. Even though all my PAPs have been normal. I was going to get one before I got pg. :shrug I bled last year and m/c days later. Maybe not related; but, we girls who have m/ced......
She said I could AMA and I'd have to "take the responsiblity." She also used the rationale that if it was *so easy to lose a baby that way, women who didn't want their babies would be doing it. :angry The same answer to sex.
Soooooooo...I've got a call into another practice some mamas here in my area recommended.
My friend in a mainstream OB prac didn't get one til 39 wks! And she was sayin she was sore and spottin, so I'm not sure if I want one at *all!
I was disappointed in my last appt, so I haven't talked about it. I'm due for one next week for an exam. She said at the end I could refuse whatever I wanted. I am going to check out this other practice. *I'm also planning to move during pg, so I will be transfering again anyway.
Lucysmama

Letia-
Yeah, I may wait to use the fetoscope. Using U/s (and doppler is included in that) has been linked to an increased miscarriage risk. Since I have had two prior m/cs, I am not sure I feel comfortable with it. If I do use it, it will only be for about a minute, and then not again for the rest of the pregnancy.
I think you can hear the heart beat with a fetocope at around 18 weeks.
Amy-
I think practices vary about internal exams. My last practice, which was CNMs, did an internal at EVERY visit. It really sucked, and I never understood why. My new midwife, a DEM, doesn't do them at all - not even in labor unless the woman wants one. She doesn't want to expose people to bacteria unless necessary. :thumb
True Blue
03-29-2004, 07:17 AM
OMG Katie, every visit? That is insane, I can't even imagine why they would do that!! I know it's common at your first visit and at the end. I opted for one at 40 weeks last time bc I wanted to have some idea what my starting point would be when labor began, other than that my CNM would not have done one til 41 weeks. Letia, it doesn't surprise me much about the mw's in an OB practice, they are usually more on the traditional medical model of care. I'm going for the doppler, I'm not too concerned about it....I used one plenty last time.

Hey Lucysmama, I notice slight crampyness after some of my workouts too. I don't think you have too much to worry about. Hiking is and should be fine for 1-2 miles. That's not at all too much. Your in Cleveland right? I can't imagine you have to deal with too strenuos of inclines either so your probably ok to keep doing what your doing. It may be an issue of increasing your streches post hike. THat's what I've found for myself anyway.
ANN~I have broad hips and a mush more narrow waste and am somewhat high wasted and have had no problems with any of the Old Navy clothes. If you order online they have a nice size chart so you could bust out the tape measurer!
I am obsessing even more with #2 'cause I'm so much more aware of what's really in there!:love
