Product name: Sarah's Ride Carrier

Brief description of product: hip carrier for older babies/toddlers
Not a traditional sling style, but a small "butt holder" of sturdy cotton canvas that was attached to a belt that went around your waist and attached to a shoulder strap that went diagnal across your front.

Store/Site of purchase: don't remember

Price: around $30 ppd

How long have you used this product? 6 mos

Fit/Sizing: it has an adjustable shoulder strap and waist belt

Performance: This is a hip carrier for older babies that can hold themselves upright. They sit on either hip and the "butt holder" goes around them and only to their mid back. The "marketing" is that it takes weight off your shoulders and puts it on your hip which in theory should be right but it always pulled on my neck no matter how I adjusted it and only was comfortable for 30 minutes or less. I mainly used it for a quick trip to the store but not for long walks.
It was very easy/fast to put on once you got the hang of it-I just practiced a few times at home before trying it in public. It could be worn over a coat too.

Workmomship: excellant, came in variety of colors, sturdy cotton canvas material

Customer Service/Communication: fast shipping and easy directions to follow, never had to communicate with them otherwise

Would you purchase this product again? NO but would encourage to try mine to see if it worked for them

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof

Additional Comments: I like the idea of this carrier and it's convenience but I just couldn't get it to stop pulling at my neck/shoulder. I did not start using this until my babe was almost 1 yr. Not sure if it was just me and my heavy toddler or like this for others.

I give it (How many thumbs up out of five?): 2

Product name: Sarah's Ride

Brief description of product: Hip carrier for older babies and toddlers.

Store/Site of purchase: Mail order, I'm not sure, maybe the Natural Baby Catalog?

Price: It's been years, I think it was about $35 with shipping.

How long have you used this product? I used it from the time dd was about 15 months until she was about 3 - 3 1/2 yrs.

Fit/Sizing: Very adjustable. It fit both myself (I'm petite) and my 6 foot husband.

Performance: Excellent. Baby can sit facing in or out. The adjustable straps do make it possible to put more of the weight on your hips (tighten the hip strap and loosen the shoulder strap). I was able to walk through parts of New York city and Central Park for many hours with my child in the Sarah's Ride (worn over my coat) during a trip. I also wore my child in the Sarah's Ride to multiple Renaissance festivals and other events, plus every-day wear. If your lower back gets tired, tighten the shoulder strap to bring the weight "up" your back, if your upper back gets tired, loosen the shoulder strap to put it back onto your hips/lower back. Very good for warm weather, since it didn't make me or baby hot. Quick and easy to put on.

Workmomship: Very good.

Customer Service/Communication: na

Would you purchase this product again? Yes, absolutely.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? No complaints!

Additional Comments: Here is what my dd (now 8yrs old) has to say: I remember riding in Sarah’s Ride. It was comfortable. And I could hear my Mommy’s heartbeat. It was one of my favorite colors, purple. I rode it until I was about three years old. I was sad to give it up. We still have it, and I’m going to use it for my child.
