Hi Ladies,
Please tell me more about "Australian" baby wraps? They seem to be lighter and much larger than the traditional US baby receiving blankets. Can you tell me more about them?
I found one called a lalito wrap
http://www.essentialbaby.webcentral...em469.inetstore
it is recommended by the Australian
widwives association.
Would like to hear your opinion
on them or if you or family have
had expereince with the lalito or other Aussie style wraps.....
I would really like to try them for swaddling our little babe - due July.
As you may know American standard
blankets don't swaddle worth a darn.
Thank for your input on what and
how to try them!

I didnt have any shaped wraps, I used large muslin wraps. I actually bought mine from that website, the duck home muslin squares, 120cm x 120cm. I know mums that have made them, just bought lengths of muslin and edged them.
If it isn't hot, polar fleece makes great wraps too. No need to sew either, they don't unravel.
To swaddle well, I think a wrap needs to be at least 1 metre. I used to lie DD down, tuck one arm in the wrap then roll her to get it nice and snug LOL She's stop crying as she rolled cause she liked it :)

I'm an Aussie mum living in GA, USA,
I used the muslin squares for my baby and were great for everything, especially to take out, the roll up really small and are great for BF cover or blakets, or sunshades, mine where the most beautiful colors too, Still getting over leaving my fav orange on on the plane somewhere!, I think mine where from Duck home too, but not sure. Oh yeah, Great for swadling too!

I have a 2 year old and I'm pregnant again and I used cheesclothe and ribbon to make my own wraps! Excellent! Will definetly be using them again this time round as they are perfect for hot summer's. A light and airy fabric that you know wont overheat bubby. Ok in winter too, if you cover them carefully with a fleecy crib blanket after you have swaddled them in the wrap!

My son was a little larger than most at 4550grams and so the bunnies that I had made grew to small very quickly and since he was a summer baby they were to hot anyway. So I ended up using my sarongs( DH thought they were a little afeminate but I rarely take his opinion into account) They worked well and I already had them so no cost.

I wouldn't trade my duck home swaddlers for ANYTHING.
Yet, I need to urgetnly find a few in a light weight flannel or the like
for my sister in law' Feb in Illinois baby.
Any suggestions on where to find them!!??
Help greatly appreciated.
