Since I've checked the board twice and no one started the thread yet I thought I should be proactive and just "do it" :)
Hope everyone had a nice Easter that celebrates it and didn't eat your kid's choc bunny ears yet! LOL
I'm 11wks and FINALLY feeling a little better though I still gag a lot and am nauseas if I don't eat every 30 min or so-yikes the weight gain is scary! I'm definitely "popped out" and my mom said "Oh my God" when she saw me-that can't be a good thing right?
Question of the week: What strange foods are you craving?
It's not that strange but getting expensive (LOL)I vary between Chinese moo goo gi pan and chips and salsa from a local restaraunt. My DH says this is how HE gains "sympathy" weight.
Have a good week everyone!

Thank YOU ANN...for starting this week's thread.
My Dad is visiting with us and it's been a crazy, hectic weekend.
Food cravings: well, I went through a deep-fried chicken fingers phase last week. I crave sweets (oh wait, I always crave sweets!)...hmmm, I will have to think this one over.
:)

I see a few of you have been frequenting the babaywearing board. This is my latest obession-trying to find a new carrier that will WORK! I never knew about the variety with my first 2 and just had a padded and unpadded sling with my 2nd that I could never get to fit well.
Now I'm so excited to see what's all out there but having such a hard time deciding. I think I've narrowed it down to choosing from:
Didymos
Moby Wrap
Kozy Carrier
Baby Bundler
We'll see if I change my mind 10 more times! I also plan to make a fleece pouch for those newborn days....
Let us know what you decide on!

Had a relaxing Easter weekend. Just stayed home and enjoyed the peace.
As for cravings, I have craved Chinese with all 4 pregnancies now. I also have craved cheese curds, 7up, and dill pickle chips. Not the healthiest but it tastes so good:D I figure if it makes me feel better then that is all that matters right now. Oh I also have been craving mangos:yum

NO cravings here. In the 1st tri I craved avocados non stop, but haven't had any cravings for a week or so. Had a nice Easter. Once again attended a great UU service. Keeps getting better and better but I'll save that sort of stuff for the spirituality board!
All is well, heading into the mountains on Thursday for a long weekend so time will creep by until then I'm sure! big :belly to all!

I have been craving oranges, veggie meats (especially veggie hot dogs and veggie sausage), steak, red meat. The foods which normally appeal to me the most, pasta, carbohydrates and sweets have very little appeal to me right now. It am just craving the protein (and oranges). I also do crave salty foods like chips, cheetos, popcorn, but once I start eating it, I dont' really like it:confused:

QOTW: Can not get enough Indian curry or tacos. Don't know why but I just love, love, love them. My husband made tacos a couple of days ago and I had 5! I regretted it later when all night long all I tasted in my mouth was tacos but I couldn't help myself. It was just sooo good.
Great! Just talking about it makes me want one. I think there are some left over taco fixins in the fridge. Gotta go and make one right now!

Sweets, sweets, and more sweets. :D
Also, veggie spring rolls and fried rice with pineapple, cashews, and raisins. :yum
The only problem is getting to the left overs before dh!

QOTW:
I have been craving:
Caesar salads
MEAT!!!!! (I am a vegetarian when I am not pregnant)
Fruit :yum
I usually have a major problem with baked goods... :nono but now, they really gross me out. Most sweet stuff does. I take two bites, and I feel yucka. Same with tuna. I usually love it, now it makes me queasy.

hi!
i'm 11 weeks 2 days now and the morning sickenss is pretty much gone now. (thank goodness!) i still have food aversions but they are also becoming less limiting and i think i've stopped losing weight. i hope.
however, i'm still not really having cravings. i eat what doesn't gross me out and feel lucky when that category expands. my lunch for the last 5 workdays in a row (perhaps this is a craving) has been a jalapeno bagel toasted with cream cheese and a fresh sliced tomato on top.
and i'm not sure if this counts, but last night i had an extremely vivid dream about produce: big white nectarines, juicy mangoes and ruby grapefruits.
(oh, and i still can't find my uterus!?! i can't wait till i have a pregnant tummy but right now i look completely normal even naked. i was bigger at 9 weeks cause i was bloated. hmmmm)

Glad I'm not the only one who's belly hasn't really "popped" yet, I was starting to feel left out:) I'm not really having the cravings any more, just a pretty healthy appetite. Oh but I do hate most vegetables right now except a few. I'm really big on salad lately, and so is my toddler oddly enough. I could really go for some Indian food right now, since it was mentioned. I'm just trying to eat lots of protein so I stay full and don't get light headed. Sweets don't really do it for me anymore, which is weird.
Anyways, that's all. Just been crying at everything lately, like a dork.

I think that I popped too...a friend who I hadn't told yet could totally tell that I was pregnant! Problem is I feel huge right now...I am a little worried, still have 6 months of growing yet, ack! I have gained 10lbs already, I hadn't gained that amount until 20 weeks with DD....and it's not from the food that I was eating as I was having major food aversions and having trouble eating much at all. I was being very lazy though last trimester, so now that I have energy back I am trying to walk everyday.
LOL, I guess I better answer the actual question! Hmm, no food cravings as of yet, but I am enjoying eating once again. I guess my only craving is having my food prepared for me, LOL, does that count??

I'm trying not to freak out here. Last night had some spotting. After I wiped there was blood on the toilet paper. I tried to stay calm and thought of a hundred reasons why it had happened. It happened again about an hour later. I went to sleep with a pad on so that I could tell what happened at night and when I woke up it was clean. But after moving around for 45 minutes or so I found a Loonie (for non-Canadians a dollar coin) sized spot of blood on the pad!
I've called my midwife this morning and I'm going in to check the heart beat. My midwife tells me that some women spot all through out their pregnancy so I'm trying to stay calm and positive. But I can't stop my heart from pounding.

Mirthfulmum,
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you, hopefully hearing the heartbeat will help ease your mind. Doesn't sound like a worrisome amount of blood at this point.

mirthfulmum: keeping fingers crossed for you!! I know spotting is normal for many women...let us know what your mw says!
I wanted to let you all know, that I'm pretty sure I felt the baby moving. I think someone else here reported that, and I was thinking "wow, how can you be sure so early", lol. Well, two days ago I kept feeling this twitching in my abdomen. At first I thought it was a muscle twitch, like the kind you get in your eyelid sometimes. But it happened for a long time. Then the next morning I felt it again. This time I thought it was just my heartbeat (feeling it through the aorta), but when I checked the rhythm, it wasn't the same. Finally, DH put his hand on me and just then I felt the fluttering and so did he! So we're pretty sure that was it. I have an U/S tomorrow so we'll see if baby is where I think it is. It was very exciting!!
I'm still having some lingering nausea (I'm 13 weeks for pete's sake!) and some food aversions. I think they are getting milder but still...I'll be glad when this phase has passed.
A colleage walking by me in the hall today said "you really look pregnant now!", lol. I do - I'm wearing maternity sweaters and my belly is quite noticeable. :love

Fingers crossed for you mirthfulmom. I am sure you are fine though, spotting is so normal, and I still spot a little here and there. Chances are everything is a-ok but we can't wait to hear it from you!
12 weeks tomorrow. And I'm sick. It should be illegal to be allowed to get sick while you are pregnant, don't you agree??? As if I don't have enough making me feel ill LOL. My nausea is mostly gone, but the more I cough the more I gag!!

Ann -- you mentioned in your post about finding a new sling that you were going to make a fleece sling...i want to too!! what pattern are you going to use? i have that one from a gal named stacey printed off (it uses a french seam, if that helps) anyway, i'm having a heck of time getting the curve cut right...any tips on how to get it right? thanks!

hi October mamas!
Just checking in with you guys.
Ann, I've developed a sling/carrier "problem" too! I had a Maya wrap with my son but could never get it to be comfortable for either of us. I sold it on ebay and mainly carried him in the baby bjorn. Then I regretted selling it and bought another Maya. Since I've been pregnant I"ve also bought a Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch and New Native pouch. I want to try a Kozy carrier too.
Flitters, Please don't be worried that you can't feel your uterus. I think it is very hard to feel on yourself. At least it is for me and this is my second pregnancy. I am 16 weeks and very noticeably pregnant but it is difficult for me to feel exactly where it starts and stops.
Mirthfulmum, I had lots of spotting, both brown and bright red, during my pregnancy with Noah. It turned out I had a low lying placenta that was causing it. Nothing to do but watch it. Luckily it moved out of the way in plenty of time, the bleeding stopped and, of course, Noah was healthy. Hoping all turns out well for you.
My cravings are strange and they change daily. One day I craved little carrots dipped in peanut butter. That was actually a really tasty snack!
Happy Tuesday!

:wave I've been lurkin, but I think with this latest craving yall won't think I'm crazy if I admit it and there's been an edd change.
Mirth, I prayed for you! Pleeeeeeeease let us know! :hug I'm on pins and needles waiting!
I had my appt last Thursday. I am pleased! :D They're very pro bf and the LC will *come to your house and I saw a birthing ball in the ed room, and they even spoke that circ isn't necessary. :thumb I'm feeling really good about the practice. I have an appt with the mw, whom isn't 24hrs :( the 27th. The practice is the back up for the bc here and also is more of a midwifery model. Me and the perinatal coordinator and LC were able to have a good discussion about my prenatal/birth choices. I'll see them again. :) I also discussed the pg test that had faint lines in early Jan before I got the bfp; but, :af showed. She mentioned u/s at 18 wks. I was reading Peggy's new book and that's not the only option, so I'm goinna discuss it. They like you to be educated and to have a dialogue. They are partners with you in your care.
This weekend was a big weekend. On Friday me and mama and her friend and dh saw the Passion. Me and mama wanted to start :bawl! It depicted the sacrifice Christ made for us in a way that I don't think we've ever seen. (hence the uproar) Maybe the most accurate. It was a beautifully done movie as well. I was up waaaaaaaaaay past my bedtime when we went to eat after. I lazed around Saturday and dropped off our taxes to be done and Sunday went to church. Our youth ministers got married that day during service. It was wonderful. And having seen the depiction of the suffering of Jesus really affected my worship in a more profound way. It was a long day, the reception the church did for them, since they didn't have the money and clean up and then we went to my mamas for dinner. Piglet I hear ya on the yuckies...I had them Friday night. I was *not enjoyin dinner. :shake I sneezed on the way and was afraid my bladder was gonna bust! :yikes: They couldn't open that garage door fast enough. I went under before it was all the way up and *ran to the bathroom. My little sisters friend was congratulating me on my pg and I said thanks as I ran by. :LOL My little sister was kissin my belly and had her hands all over me. I'm really showin. She was makin up these ghetto names for the baby. She and her friend think its a girl. My mamas crazy best friend on the phone said it was twins. :shake I was *beat! I went straight home and got in the bed.
I *was craving olives with ranch dressing with bacon on them. I'm not sure if I'm still feelin it; but, I might have dh bring them home just in case. :yum
Well, that's my post for the week! :LOL
That's about been my speed these days!
eta: Hey Ann! I missed seeing your posts! Good to know all is well! :wave Chrissy! Thanks for replyin to my post in diapering!
slings.....I've feeling overwhelmed like I did about dipes. :nut I know I want a pouch and I'm a plus sized mama. I know I want adjustable....but that leaves a lot...
I'm thinking that since its October, so far, I might be able to get away with fleece. Is that microfleece? I have to ask...I think it might be coolin down and I should be able to just get fall/winter stuff.

Mirthfulmum - Good Luck with finding your babe's heart beat. I'll be thinking of you!
We had a nice long weekend here. Spent time outdoors playing with the kids, blowing bubbles and tossing balls and drawing with sidewalk chalk.
I used a heart to heart sling that I found at a thrift store with my son. It's a really nice roomy sling and is still in great shape. I'll use it again this time around. But I also want to buy a new sling. I will get the mayawrap. I admit it, I just love the guatemalean fabrics they are made out of. Very cool!
A few weeks ago, when I was still feeling queasy, I really craved protien foods like meat. Usually I don't go for a lot of meat, but suddenly, I needed it! Now I could take it or leave it, just like always. I also ate a lot of whole wheat waffles with low sugar jam. Now I can eat most of my normal foods. I haven't gotten to that raveneous point yet either. But I am sooo thirsty still. I'm drinking tons of water. I also Like to have some milk, which I usually don't go for.
I feel a little guilty for indulging in easter treats over the weekend, but I can never resist the temptation, lol!
I'm at 15 weeks. I know it's early, but I sure wish I could feel those baby movements. My best friend could always feel hers at fourteen weeks. Wish I was like that. I felt my daughter at 20 weeks and my son at 16 weeks. But he was sooooo active in and out of the womb, lol! So if I have another calm one, I wonder when I'll feel it? Sometimes I think I'm feeling something, but I just can't distinguish baby movement from gas at this point, ya know? Not yet. I need very definate movements before I'll know for sure.
Congratulations to those that are starting to feel their babes though!
I have my next midwiife appointment next week already. Thi montht is flying by for me!
Oh! We now have 15 new lambs that were born on are farm, all born during the month of March. Everything went really well and now I don't have to go to the barn in the middle of the night! Yippee for normal sleep!
Have a great week everyone!

Hello All October Mamas to be!
Can I be added to the list? Babe #2 has a due date of October 4.
I've started to feel good again over the past few weeks. If I could just quit having these dizzy spells I think I'd feel pretty much normal (ok normal with a belly). I can't say I've had any cravings per say but I certainly an going though different food "phases" as I like to call them. Right now I am totally into bagels and cream cheese with sliced tomatoes. I've eaten so many that my tongue has gotten sore from eating the toasted bagel! Luckily DD agrees with this phase, she loves bagels too!
Today I just left a message for a local doula I've been recommended. Its seems way early to make doula arrangements but I don't want to find out she's already booked for the beginning of October so I've made the call. I waited too late to call the birthing centre and as a result I'm on a VERY long waiting list to have a midwife attended birth. Unfortunately the birthing center is the only one near me and midwives are not allowed to work in hospitals in Quebec! it sucks. Oh well, I'm hopeful that a good doula will be able to work with me in a hospital setting.

mirthfulmom, i'm looking forward to hearing that everything is fine as it probably is, but how very scary! i hope everything went well with your midwife today.
jillerina, i think i mentioned it in my previous post but i've been eating bagels with creamcheese and tomato too! i don't know if it's a craving exactly, but i'd love to have one every day if possible!
as for my uterus, still no sign of it. i'm not worried but i would really like some visible sign that i am pregnant! :) ah well, patience, i know. :)
and on the topic of slings, our first and only baby purchase was a sling baby from http://www.walkingrockfarm.com/sling.php which arrived a couple days ago. it is so cute and soft and seems really comfortable. i'll post pics when i upload them tomorrow but dh was so cute! he opened up the box all excited and pulled out the sling, promptly put it on and picked up our dog deek's "green monster" (stuffed toy approximately shaped like a gingerbread man about the size of a newborn) and put it in the sling. it was so cute! i decided i will make one purchase to celebrate after each midwife appointment so another 2.5 weeks till i buy something else... i'm just not sure what!

Everything is great! I saw my midwives and the baby's heart beat was as strong and steady as ever. Seeing the blood really freaked me out. I never had any spotting when pregnant with Alias so this totally caught me by surprise. My midwife pretty much said exactly what you all did. That it's perfectly normal to have spotting through out the pregnancy. And if I ever feel the need to have a quick reassuring listen to the heart beat I was more than welcome. My midwives are so fantastic!:love
Thank you so much for your thoughts and warm wishes. Having you gals here really kept me from loosing it today. Thank you. :grouphug

slings? Oh boy!!! Am I ever loving the babywearing forum. I am torn between getting a KK fleece pouch, or a Pea in the Pod hemp fleece pouch. I already have a Maya pouch and 2 slings (LOVE them).
I have no idea where my uterus is these days, lol....too much "padding" over top, he he he
Well, this afternoon at 2:30 EST I am going for an U/S. DH and DD are coming, too. They will be doing a nuchal translucency test to check for signs of DS. Fingers crossed that all goes well!
I also started telling DD about the baby - she's really into me drawing pictures for her and then she tells me what they are. I drew a family a couple of days ago - me, her dad, her, and the cat. On a whim, I drew a baby in my tummy. Now she points to it and says "baby" and I try to explain that there is a baby in my (real) tummy. I don't think she gets it yet, but she is getting SO verbal that I'm sure she will start to grasp it, soon.
Oh, and can I just officially announce here that, for the first time ever....and I never thought I would say this...nursing my DD is starting to aggravate me. I'm not quite ready to use the "W" word yet, but don't think it hasn't crossed my mind. My breasts are SORE and DD is getting rougher. Then, this morning, when I'm thinking "no more" she looks at me and says (for the very first time) "MILL-kee" (I call it "milkies"). Well if that didn't just melt my heart so much I was like "here honey, have all the milkies you want". :LOL

:( Send me good vibes, too...I woke up with a spot of bright red blood on my undies....none since.
I am not too worried, though....baby is kicking up a storm in there. It feels like he/she invited all the neighborhood fetuses over for a dance party.

04-14-2004, 02:24 PM
Interesting...I went to the bathroom not long before my U/S and saw a dime-sized spot of the faintest, pinkish spot on my undies. It was really faint. Anyways, having never shed so much as the tiniest drop of anything, it made me go "hmmm". Nothing since, however, so I'm not worried. But I thought of those of you who had it and definitely could commiserate!
Also, the U/S went great and everything looks perfect! Baby is measuring 2.5 inches from head to rump. At first he/she was sleeping (only the beating heart gave me reassurance) but when the docs came in to take over he/she was moving around like crazy! :love Wouldn't even sit still long enough to take a 3D picture.
Meanwhile, poor DD was traumatized being in the small dark room. DH had to take her out. It was rough! :crying I don't think we'll have her come for the next one. :( It was really really hard to say goodbye to her (I had to get back to work).

mirthmom, I am soo glad you heard the heartbeat! YAY!!
flitters, dont' worry about not feeling your uterus or looking pregnant yet. This is your first right? With my dd, I was soo small, I never could feel my uterus, even at 7 months pregnant, I just looked barely pregnant. Some people are just smaller than others.
Piglet, I am glad your ultrasound went well! YAY!, Nursing DD is sooo aggravating to me. The "W" word has definitley crossed my mind. I am even trying to cut back, but with little success. DD is NOT giving it up. My breasts are really sore as well, and I have the nursing "ickies" Sometimes it just makes my skin crawl. Last night was awful. DD woke up at 4:00 and wanted to nurse, so I let her, but she kept nursing and nursing and nursing and would not let me pull away. I finally had enough, and just refused to nurse her anymore, I tried rocking her, patting her back, rocking her, pattin her back, she is screaming, finally after like 45 minutes of that, I gave in and she nursed and fell asleep quickly and pulled off. I really want to cut her back, but she is having none of it. The more I try to limit it, the more she wants to nurse. :(
Where oh where oh where do people get these kids that self wean at like 1 year of age and sleep through the night really early? Where do they come from?

Stop spotting!!!! Though who am I to talk? I get it occasionally still, but I don't worry anymore. Can't wait to go hear the heartbeat though. I was going to see the midwife yesterday or today, but I am sick and the mw is pg too, so I really don't want to get her sick too!!! Plus I now have laryngitis, I don't think I could even call her to get a good time LOL.
Flitters, do you get braxton-hicks yet? I used to get them a lot last time and that was the best time to feel my uterus bc it was rock solid. Especially after sex, it would stay contracted for a few minutes. See if you notice this, then you might get to find your uterus after all! :thumb
On a positive note, I got my maternity order from Old Navy today. I am so in love. I have a pair of Motherhood low rise shorts that I got at a garage sale. There is absolutely no comparison to the ON ones!!! The ones from ON are so much softer and fit so much more normal. Also, they use 100% cotton on the serging. I find Motherhood's seams to be SOOO irritating. I got a bunch of cute tanks, I am so excited, I actually even look pg when I wear my new clothes. Yahoo!!! I can't wait to wear them. Now I need to get a few more bottoms and I'll be all set!

No more spotting since my little episode this morning. I really feel fine, though!!! I went out and took a walk on the Towpath, even. (I live on a river. There used to be the Ohio and Erie Canal along the side, and next to that a towpath for mules to tow the boats. Now it's just miles and miles of hike and bike trails, about 1000 feet from my door!!!) My mw called me back while I was out hiking, and said if I felt up to that, and the baby was moving, she wasn't worried. Neither am I.
Dh and I went to a Jazz Fest concert tonight, it was great!!! Nice to have an evening out with him! :) I know they will be few and far betweenwhen the baby comes.
:OT Piglet, do you work at the Cleveland Clinic/UH?
I can feel my uterus, BTW...it is around my navel now! :eek

Still a bit of spotting here but I'm no longer worried. Just reading this thread seems to make even more real for me that spotting during preganacy is fairly common. I have to keep reminding myself that every pregnancy is different. Just because I didn't have spotting with pregnancy #1 doesn't mean that spotting isn't normal for this pregnancy.
Other than the scare a couple of days ago, I've been feeling pretty good. The tiredness hasn't really gone away. I have a feeling that I might be getting low in iron. I'm on the amenic side of normal when not pregnant, so it only stands to reason that it's going to become something I have to keep track of when pregnant.

Glad the worrys are gone!:wave Heading to the Smoky's Mtns for the weekend! Hope everyone has a nice weekend! Lots of hiking in store and a hottub:D I'll keep the temp on the lower side though!
Last night I was in the btub with my DS and he was pouring water into my belly button. When I asked him what he was doing he said."the baby's thirsty, I'm giving baby water" Man, kids are just heart melting.......:D

:OT I was born there, Piglet!!! Dr. Dierker delivered me and my brothers.
I started to go there for my prenatals with Lucy because I lived like 2 minutes away in Tremont, but I HATED the NP I was seeing, and I always had to wait like an hour past my appointment time to see her, so I left Metro and joined a smaller CNM/OB practice.
Are you having this baby at Metro?
PS - Glad your u/s went well, and baby looks healthy! :)

One thing I forgot to mention - the U/S tech showed me where the baby was...it was NOT where I thought I'd felt the movement, LOL! So I guess I was just experiencing some muscle twitching. Ah well! :D
lucysmama: I'm quite certain that Dr. Dierker delivered my friend's two babies (they are now 5 and 2 years old). Is he the one that takes those fabulous black and white photos?
I might be delivering here. The OB I'm seeing is here. We aren't actually sure yet. Hoping to move back home to Vancouver before baby is born, but it depends on where DH gets a job, among other things. We live between Metro and Tremont (technically not Tremont, but close enough). There are lots of kids around here!
mirthfulmum: i was reading your child's name is Alias...I always thought you were Jen but now I'm thinking you are name-starting-with-K, ends-in-A? (since it's a unique name and you don't list it I wont' post it here). If you are Jen, I met you a couple times in Stanley Park at the MDC mamas gatherings. If you are K then I met you at Dunderave one time and, as I recall, we chatted quite a bit.

Piglet -
Yes, he takes those black and white portraits of his patients. I have mine from my birth!!! I remember posing for my brother's family shots when they were born.
BTW, I used to live right on W14th by Lincoln Park. I really liked living in Tremont. I live in Peninsula now.

Wow good memory Piglet. Yes, I'm Kazia (i'm sorry to say I can't remember your non-MDC name). It's not that I don't post my name due to a desire for anonymity, but simply because that the spelling is misleading and most people (who are not of Polish heritage) have trouble pronouncing it. We did meet at Dunderave that one time. That was a really fun morning. I couldn't get to the MDC playgroups much after that and just sort of got out of the habit.
I read about Kama'aina mama this morning as well. It broke my heart. I can imagine the depth of sorrow she must be feeling. It is so hard to loose a pregnancy. And I think that miscarrying after you've had a child makes it even more difficult as now you are more aware of what you are loosing.

hi! had my first dr's appt today...he said i look perfect,:D ...baby's hr was 165...it's so cool to sear how they mature with time...i listened at work at 10 weeks and it was 180, then a week later it was 170's, and now at 12w 4d it was 165...i just think that is cool to hear the maturity of their little systems increase overtime, ya know? i have gained about 4 lbs so far...wt was discouraging for me this pregnancy b/c i was 43 lbs heavier when i got preg than my last one :eek. he did say to watch the wt gain, i said i know. i really hope to do well in that area this preg. he said my fundus was just below my navel, he said it measured about 15 weeks, but i generally measure large. anyway, that was the lowdown on my appt....hope everyone is feeling great!

I've been bad about not posting on this thread lately even though I read it a couple of times everyday! Guess I've just been too lazy to write...
Everything is going well on this end. I'll be 15 weeks tomorrow. Still haven't choosen a midwife, we've just been dragging our heels a bit and then having to wait a few weeks for an appointment/consultation to meet with the various midwives we're considering. Tommorow we're meeting with another CPM who does homebirths and on Monday we have an appointment for a CNM who works in an OB practice and delivers at the local hospital. I'm trying to go into this with an open mind, but I really want nothing to do with the hospital if it can be avoided...
My regular clothes are a bit snug but yet maternity clothes are still ridicuously big. Still, my MIL is taking me shopping this weekend at on Old Navy with a maternity department. I can't wait until I start to get really BIG- I want it to be obvious to anyone I meet that I am PREGNANT! I'm getting so excited about this baby that I just want to tell everyone that I meet, even strangers! (This was a surprise pregnancy and it took a while to really sink in, DH and I have recently hit the SUPER excited phase...its not that we were unhappy to begin with, just utterly shell shocked.)
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I don't know about the rest of you, but for here they're predictable absolutely gorgeous weather. The last couple of weekends have been so cold and nasty that I can't wait!

Our weather is the same, I guess, Futuremama. It was "winter" as little as four days ago. UGH. Anyways, today it was 54 this morning and supposed to get up to 70 sooooo...
I shaved my legs and pits for the first time since winter started (and that was six months ago, lol). My goodness, what a job that was! Clippers and three blades later (and all the hot water, lol)...But I have these cute sorta-cropped maternity pants that I was dying to wear and so it had to be done, lol. I'm feeling very sunny in a bright yellow short-sleeved maternity shirt! :love
My mother says she bought me a pair of pants that she is bringing with her when she comes to visit next month. She'll be here for 2 weeks and she loves to shop so I'm going to be really bad and allow her to spend shamelessly on me. We're so broke these days that I haven't been able to buy anything for myself (yeah, yeah, boo hoo...). I"m also going to hit her up for diaper money - I want to order some custom cloth dipes and want to get them while I am still here in the US. IF we move back to canada it will be very expensive to have them shipped there. yeah...that's my logic see..it's not that I'm impatient or anything... :LOL
Hmmm, should I tell her the custom sling I want to order takes 6 months to make and they need to be paid now? :D :D :D

Up until a couple of weeks ago, the last time I bothered shaving was when my husband and I got married in September. When I finally decided to shave again I also decided to use my husband's clippers before even beginning to think about attacking it with a razor! After I was done you ought to have seen the hairy ring-around-the-tub -- yuck! :p

I'm going shopping (again  ) for maternity pants. Yall are clearly smaller than this 18-20. :(
Today I went to the gro store after cycle class and stalked the employees at 10 am while they made 7 layer mexican bean dip and deli sandwiches. :yum

I'm also really happy for you that you got one of those lovely diaper covers!!! Couldn't have happened to a nicer hyena...er..mama!! :love

Can I just complain? I'm so sick of being sick. I just got over morning sickness and now I have a wicked cold. I made it through two first trimesters without puking and now this cold....I coughed so hard last night and this morning that I puked. DH is away on his ship til tomorrow, he always is away when I am sick. I hate it. DS doesn't feel great. I'm so tired. I'm coughing all night when I am not peeing and I have that insomnia that makes it hard to go to sleep when I get in bed. DS was up at 6:30 morning, way too early. I just want to cry. I've had such a crappy day and my house is so disorganized from me being sick for so long. Waaaaa.:crying

I was just thinking about my hairy legs today as I put on my capris pants. It totally cracked me up to see that everyone is having the same thoughts. Ah spring, when a young mom's fancy turns to leg hair removal. But I hate shaving my legs! So for me, it's time to make my first of the season wax appointment. I usually don't make my first appointment until May but it has been so warm and beautiful up here (sorry Piglet, don't want to rub it in) that I think I'll be making my leg waxing appointment early this year.
More :hug s to you Trueblue. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, I'm sort of stressing because I'm 15 weeks 2 days now and I haven't felt any movement yet. Please tell me it's because I a ma full time student who is also caring for a very active 2.5 year old who is only in daycare 4 hours aday! So I am trying to be a half-time SAHM and a fulltime student at the same time. Needless to say I am very busy.
Last time I just worked at my desk job all day and dreamed about the baby. I started feeling moevement at about 12 weeks. This time I barely have time to remember I'm pregnant!
I did have an ultrasound at 12 weeks, and everything was totally fine and normal, so I'm hoping that I am just "average" this time in not feeling the baby move. :(

Letia - try Gap maternity! I wear a size 14-16 prepreg, and the Gap Large has plenty of room in it for me. I bet the XL would work for you. I would invest in some black yoga pants. You can wear them with a lot of stuff, and they are stretchy to boot!
You can find some for pretty cheap on ebay!

Gosh, pregnancy makes me crave meat so bad!
I want a cheeseburger and steak fries soooooooooooooooo bad! :yum :yum :yum :yum But I was a very very good pregnant mama and made steamed veggies and a salad for dinner.

water - don't worry about not feeling movement. It's like you said, last time you had all the time in the world to be still and meditate on the wonders of your baby. Now you're lucky if you have two minutes to yourself.
Before you know it you'll be posting about how this new babe is keeping you all night using your bladder as a punching bag :LOL .

water: don't worry! I didn't feel anything until I was 19 weeks with DD, and one night lying in bed I happened to have my hand on my belly and she kicked me! :love
Looking back on it, I think I had been feeling movement for a while before that, but I just had no idea what it was or what it would feel like. I thought it was gas or muscle twitches.
So this time around, I'm pretty sure I'll feel it earlier since I know what to look for, but then I was wrong last week so who knows? LOL

ROTFL all of our shaving woes. That is my big plan for today - attack the hairy beasts! What a chore it is but oh so necessary now that the weather is warming up (ok, just a little).
Talking about hair I've been losing it on my head like crazy for the last few days. When I wake up in the morning my pillow case seems covered. The weird thing is that I've grown all kinds of hair on the rest of my body. I swear I'm the only woman with a hairy belly! What am I gonna do in the Summer!?! I was looking forward to showing off my beautiful belly all summer long but now it doesn't look like it will be an option.
Hope everyones weekend is great. I'm staying home fighting a sinus/head cold. Blech.

Thanks guys, I think you are probably right, I have a midwife appt on Wed also so we'll get to hear the heartbeat again then.
i think that I am just less confident all the way around this pregnancy: I was so convinced that I would be having this homebirth the way I wanted it, and the labour would go the way I wanted it too, oh, and that my son was a girl baby! :LOL
And then when everything went to hell (sorry 1st timers, sometimes this happens!) I lost my confidence and now I am sort of just going along for the ride and not making strong statements about anything.
Anyway, it's good to know that I am "normal"!!
Oh, and I never answered the question of the week: All I want are veggie hotdogs, in the bun with lots of yellow mustard and sauerkraut!! I have like one or two a day....mmmmmm

And DH is home too, at least temporarily, so that helps. I guess I can't complain too much, last station he was gone 6-12 weeks at a shot...3-4 days is cake compared to that (except when you're sick LOL)!
I almost thought I felt the baby last night, but I'm thinking it was gas....soon I hope!!!!

Jillerina- you're not the only one w/ more belly hair! It's like my normal blonde peach fuzz, suddenly grew longer and turned darker - and it's really noticable to me (on my pale skin). I actually used my husband's beard trimmer w/ no guard on my belly a little bit today - so it looks really nice now :D I noticed my hair falling out a lot today too, in the shower. I was like, "I thought it's not supposed to fall out while I'm pregnant."
And I think I've felt the baby move, for real this time. yay. gotta go

I've gone over a week with no spotting and then Sat night I had bright red spotting and it really freaked me out! It was "a lot" even for me. I'm still on the progesterone for another week but since I'm at 12 wks the placenta should be taking over and I wouldn't think this should still be an issue?
My Dh was after me to help with yard work all day Sat and I thought I was overdoing it a little but he was getting snippy with me so I didn't say anything...well he felt bad that night! Kept saying everything was going to be fine and I just glared at him-helpful-I know. LOL
I stayed in bed late today and just layed around and I haven't had more today so that's good. My first 12 wk appt isn't until next Tues since I thought my DH was going to be gone but since he's not I'm going to call on Mondaya nd try to get it scheduled this week just to hear that heartbeat ya know!!??
Take care all
