I thought the second trimester was supposed to be the golden time. Where I could just enjoy being pg without having to puke all of the time or being huge and uncomfortable. I feel like such a complainer this past week but this heartburn is killing me! Tums and Rolaids are not helping and only make me gag on top of the heartburn. I even got it from eating a very bland chicken pot pie. Someone tell me how to make this go away!

AP & Trish-:hug I am right there with you BOTH.
The heartburn is still fairly mild for me, but it is DEFINITELY THERE. I've been doing the Tums thing. The funny thing is, I had heartburn with DS#1, but not until month 7 or so. I am only 25 weeks now. What's up with this??????

yep, i've got it too already! Not too bad yet and the tums work for me.
Trish, my friend had the same problem with tums not working and she found that the liquid stuff (mylanta?) worked well. That and baking soda. Maybe that would help?

Mine was so bad when I was pregnant that I took Zantac. Had no choice if I wanted to eat. I still have problems with it today. Maybe you could ask your doc about taking something for it?

Ugh! I'm in this club too. Still haven't graduated from morning sickness, and already the heartburn has kicked in. I remember last pregnancy, I had a good month between the two phases. Phooey!
My mainstay this pregnancy has been apples. I eat them all day long. At least one or two a day. Not sure why this helps, but it really does for me. They seem to make me burp, which is always helpful. LOL.
I've tried Tums a few times this go around, and they don't make much difference. I lived on Maalox chewables in the fruit flavor last time. It was an orange label, I might have the brand wrong, I'll have to look it up. But, they didn't have the awful chalky texture of Tums. I've avoided them this time, though, since I heard that too much calcium can lead to constipation, and I had horrifying constipation last time. Much worse than labor (36 hours with pit, even!)
Good luck! I hope we all have a short term of heartburn and then smooth sailing. That would be nice, huh?
17 weeks to go...
