Check this out! I did this years ago, the food is great. http://www.servenewengland.org It's all about volunteering, and getting food. If you eat, you qualify. The program is run throughout NE. I started again last month and it was great. None of it is govt food or has anything to do with income. Just gotta do a good deed.

BTW, I live near the Vermont, New Hampshire border, in Massachusetts. THere are so many 'mothering-style' families around here.

Ok, so far I've gotten two people to actually GO and get an order by posting on Mothering, (Mass board) so I'm trying here again!

The food is first quality! I get 2 family orderrs and 2 produce orders a month. I had to dry and freeze some bananas, made apple sauce, and the kdis are eating fruit like crazy. The gourmet raisins were incredible, now how am I going to find those all the time. The chicken breasts were yummy!

I'll get 8 dinners out of the combined packages, plus loads of fruit and we had so many salads we're actually sick of it. All for $64 (I think)

Check it out. It's no a government program, it's all volunteers. Try it!
