View Full Version : I am so tired!
I am falling apart today. Need sleep. Seeing double from fatigue. My girls are usually so good but today they are destroying my house, water all over my kitchen floor right when we needed to leave for an appointment.
How much sleep are you all getting? Is it enough? This third trimester exaustion is extinguishing my nesting capabilities but not my nesting desire. ;) Is this all from staying up until 2am two nights ago putting up the girls' bunk beds? Will I get my energy back?
Off to get my dh from the train and then I am taking a nap!

I was just pondering the same question...yesterday at the park I talked to a mom of a 3 year old who is also due in July and she said she gets 9 hours of sleep a night plus a daily nap. I am so jealous! And a bit worried...I can not nap ever because I take care of other people's children in addition to my 3 over 40 hours a week, and on weekends we are on the go constantly, for the kids sports games, etc. Plus my 4 year old doesn't ever nap anyway, and I don't go to sleep until 11 or 12 every night, and then I wake up every 2 hours to pee and have a very hard time getting back to sleep. I worry that lack of sleep could harm the baby in some way, does anyone have any info on that?

9 hours of sleep plus naps????
Where does she get this?
I am lucky to get 7 hours of sleep and no naps... I am dying here!
I walked down to lunch today and was panting on the way back. I asked my DH (who works at the same place)
"how.....do....you....have....any....air....to....t alk?"
pant pant pant....

ladies, ladies you are all doing better than me. I wish I could make it to bed at 11 or 12 my usual time is 2 or 3 am and up by 9am so thats about 6 hours sometimes less. I have 3 dds so I guess thats it. More kids more work in the day and less of that "me" time so when they go to sleep at 10 or 10:30 I 'need' that me time. I do what I want or spend time with dh.
About nesting...I have been nesting for about 2 months now. It seems to start earlier the more kids you have. I think its because you havet to work around their schedule. If I was alone I could just nest whenever I wanted and work the whole day through if I wanted. With 3 kids you have to stop feed them, bathe them, (put them down for naps if possible) so my nesting time is cut down to about 3 hours a day. So what would take me 3 days to do takes me about a week now. Anyway Im in the talking (typing) mood tonight so I will end here before I make this any longer...

I stay up too late, and have only myself to blame. I could sleep when ds sleeps, but I hate napping so I really fight it.
But, I also found out that I was anemic, and since I have boosted my iron I have been much less tired.

I'm so tired today. I used up all my energy washing the car we need to sell, and was pretty dang snippy at ds for his just being 3 while I was trying to wash the car.
I suck :(
We are out of cat food and cheese and the library books are overdue. And I just can't get out of the house. 3 hours 'til naptime. . .

"I have been nesting for about 2 months now. It seems to start earlier the more kids you have. "
Boy Michelle, I wish I could agree with you on that one!! My 3 older kids and 2 step-kids and all the kids I take care of doing 5 days a week childcare in my home have made nesting the last thing I can think of doing!! I wish I was more organized, but I often have between 4 and 7 kids here on any given day and time and all I can manage is to keep the house from looking like a hurricane hit! I feel like I'll never get done the cleaning that I want to do, but the good thing is that babies don't care! Still, I'd love to feel like I was accomplishing more than I am now...and since I am working up until the day I am due, I am going to have to crunch to get it all in.
I guess it helps to hear other moms suffering sleep deprivation, babies seem to be remarkably resiliant and we just do the best we can.
Take care all,
Kerry

I'm zonked no matter how much sleep I'm getting. DS seems to be giving up naps :crap unless we spend 2+ hours working on getting to sleep, too, so I've found myself trying to be out a good bit of the morning to tire him out. I know it's possible, I've done it, but it's hard to believe we can function with such little sleep when the babies actually get here. Of course, I've already informed DH that the hour after he gets home from work is going to be his time one on one with the kids while I get a short nap, LOL.

I feel cheated of my precious sleep sometimes. I, too need me-time so once she goes to sleep, I stay up and do stuff for way too long. I just woke up from a nap with my DD, so I really shouldn't complain, actually.

when i try to go to bed at a "decent" hour and then get up and stay awake all day, i draaaaag.

My big problem is that I am so tired when I get home from work that I go to bed early because I can hardly stay awake. Then I wake up between 2 and 4 and can't go back to sleep for about an hour to an hour and a half. I have to get up early to get to work on time, usually around 6 am and then I am tired again for most of the day. I wish I had more choice on when to sleep!

Tired here, too. I found out last week that I am anemic, and it doesn't surprise me a bit. I was anemic with ds, too. And my energy level was fine until a few weeks ago. Now I need a nap just about every day. That doesn't mean that I get one! Usually I can nap two or three afternoons for about 40 minutes. That helps a lot.
I had the same reaction the last time I found out that I was anemic. "Oh, I AM tired! I need to go to bed!"
I've been working hard to get my hemoglobin back up. Hopefully I'll find out this week that it's better.
I usually go to bed at about 11:30, then get up at 7:30 or 8:00. That sounds like it should be enough. But I'm up every two hours to pee, and some nights we play musical beds. Ds came to my bed at about 3 AM, so I slept with him until I needed to turn over. Then I moved to the big bed and listened to my husband breathe (allergies!) for an hour or so. Then ds found us there and I moved back to the other bed.

I have been tired. But today I am downright exhausted. I have a hard time making myself go to bed at night, but then I fall asleep on the sofa in the playroom :eyesroll while I watch TV.
Last night dh came and woke me up at 1:30 to get me to go to bed.
Only one more month of work! YEE HAW! I will have the kids full time, but at least I can sit down during the day and put my swollen feet up while we play games. They are great at playing by themselves too and I will probably let them indulge in an afternoon video once in awhile so that I can lay down.
I'm thinking of hiring a neighbor's daughter (she's starting high school) a couple of days a week to come and play with Dane while Lars is in school. This will also give me an opportunity to go to the doctor without kids in tow if need be.
