I just thought I'd ask if anyone has come up with any names yet?

I actually thought of a couple early on..then have been distracted since!! I'd like something different and I'm hoping for a boy(ya never know though) and I''d like something, just not sure exactly what!! Just something thats not too common I guess!!

We've come up with a few... DH and I rarely :love the same name, so these four have made it through several conversations. Here are some we like:

Emmaline Faith (or Faye) (pronounced em-uh-lean, think Anne of Green Gables)
Audrey Kathryn
Josiah Eric
William

We are FAR from choosing. I don't want to pick a name until I see my child--don't want to give him/her a name that doesn't fit him/her! We aren't going to find out the sex either. Anyone else have some good names?

Just noticed your signature...you have some experience in this area! What are your children's names? Have any pointers for a newbie? ;)

We have decided on Anya if it is a girl, we can't think of a middle name we like that goes with it though. We have no boys name.

I love that name!! Unfortunately (for me, not you!), that's one that DH has nixed (though I'm still not sure why). I also like this spelling:

Anja

Yay! I'm so excited that someone is using this name! I love it! :)

:( I like sooo many girl names, but dh vetoed all of them. My reject list is: Ada, Layla, Frida, Lucille (Lulu), Lila... and so on. He has yet to suggest a name. Sigh. I really wanted Ada, too. Oh well. At least we have a boy name!

This name is on our list too LOL but the Irish spelling of Aine (same pronunciation though).

Also on our list right now is Aeia (I think the correct pronunciation is Eye-a but I am trying to confirm it).

For a boy it will be Graeme (middle names probably Angus John)

We're having a hard time with a girls name. At first I really liked Daisy Jane, but now I think it's too cute for an adult...some girl names on our list: Cassandra, Lucie, Sabrina, Tabitha (Tom likes this one)..I just cannot think of ones I "love" yet. I do like Rhiannon.

If we have a boy we're set..he'll be Thomas Alexander, called Taj.

Meg-

I had Daisy Jane on my list for a long time..but figured nixed it for the same reason, too cutesy for an adult.

Meg- we both have boy names picked out and are having trouble with the girl's! Right now, I really want the baby to be a boy so I am sure I have a name ready. Jude Gordon. I really do think it is a boy, though. So it may all work out.

We don't have any names yet. I actually just posted a question looking for boys names and got pages back to think about. We had girls names that we've never used - they've been our girl names for 4 years, but we just started rethinking them. One has been in amovie and the other on a tv show lately. One of our criteria is that they are relatively unique. TV and movies aren't a good way to start.

So we've used up our boy names and don't have any girl names. Good think I'm not due until the beginning of Nov.

Even though we've decided for the 18week u/s and would like to know if it's a boy or girl if they can tell us then, I really don't want to name the baby until she/he is born. I want to see the babe to know name them. So we really haven't gotten too far into the name game yet.

We have Caleb and Avery left over from Owen, but no middle names, and I :love the name Emily Grace for a girl, but this is really just the preliminary stages for us. Basically with Owen, I would suggest names and Dh would veto them if he didn't like them (and he doesn't like a lot), until we had 3 on our short list. We knew we were having a boy from 18weeks, so we didn't come up with any girl names... I have a really hard time with girl names, I don't like them to be too frilly.

Well its official :D Our names are:
For a boy Graeme Angus John
For a girl Áine Beatrix Jane (the hat on the A makes it sound like Awn-ya and is more correct according to my Irish friend LOL!)

Phew...it is such a load off my mind to know that either way our baby has a name :D I was so grateful when Rhys was born because if he had been a girl we still had *15* girls names on our list LOL!! We only had one boy name so when they announced that he was a boy I was soooo grateful!

he he...I'm glad we don't live anywhere near eachother Steph..I'm really liking Aine too..my daughter prefers the german spelling of Anja, and would be thrilled if her sister was called that. We have to use Jane because that is my dh's favorite aunt and he wants to honor her...I think Aine has made my short list.

Amanda: I love the names you pick out. Mabel is darling and so is Jude. Maybe you'll get lucky and be right? At the surprise u/s at the back up OB on friday he had me turn away when he got to "parts" because I don't want to know before the birth..but I think I didnt' see any appendages when he was showing me legs and feet..so I suspect this one is a girl and I will just have to come up with some name by november LOL.

Annabel
05-24-2004, 06:32 PM
So in november we could have 3 Aine/Anja/Anya s? Must be a good name!

BoobyJuice
05-24-2004, 06:49 PM
Could have had 4 (we would have been Aine), but one of our criteria is that it isn't too popular :rolleyes

Annabel
05-25-2004, 12:54 AM
That's one of our criteria too, but I have never known anyone with that name before. It would be a little strange for so many people on the same board to give their children the same/ish name!

LOL I haven't even come close to deciding...this morning I like Piper and Zoe. With 6 months to go, who knows what the name will end up being?

I have no idea. I like Isabelle or Isabella, I like Anabelle :) What is it with dh's and vetos??! ugh

I know for a boy it will be something with Rudy in it. After my late grandfather who I was very close to. Actually his full name was Rudolph, but I'm thinking of my babe and saying no to the full version! lol

05-26-2004, 08:09 PM
Well, we finally picked- except for the boys middle name.

girl: Rhys Maryn

boy: Mcewan ______ (dh suggested Ajax, he would like an A name so his initials would be MAC: is that weird?)

I've found a girls name I like: Alia (pronounce Ahh-lee-a). It goes nicely with Kaia as well.
Boys name I totally have no clue on though. I only seem to like the girly ones lol I do like Jude atm.
I haven't run these by Dion yet, but he said that he gets to pick the middle and last name (we're not married, the kids get his last name) so I get most of the choice for the first name. I think he'll like Alia but I don't know about Jude.

We picked our boys name last night - Seamus Avery

We are still debating over girls names, but I like Rowyn Ella. Why is it that the girls names are so much harder???

We're very much in the preliminary rounds of name ideas but here are some we've come up with so far:

Girl: Edie Tangerine (tangerine from that Led Zep song I love)
Soledad or Sole (sounds like Au Lait) but I think it should be spelled Soliel but that's a point of contention between us

Boy: not much discussion yet but so far I like
Sky
Sol (sounds like Soul - sun in spanish - dh and I are into solar power)

Names...I just started this subject with my dh, who is like many of your dh's with the "veto" power, lol! I say a name and he says no, but never really comes up with any!

With all three of our kids, we named them after they were born...some sooner than others, lol! This time will probably be no different, although I knew the sex with the other ones and this time it will be a surprise :D
Which actually makes it a little more difficult since we will need to come up with two sets of possible names!

With my boys, I had a few names in mind when they were born and chose from those. With dd, I had no idea...the nurse actually named her! When she said it, dh looked at each other and we knew that was it! (She suggested Victoria and one name we agreed on was Claire -for a middle name- so we put them together and the name fits her to the T!)

It works for us that way since I don't think I could name a person without actually meeting them, but this seems to drive everyone else crazy! My mom especially...

Although I would love to give my kids a really unique name, and I love hearing all your names :love ... we have a really yucky sounding-difficult to pronounce-and spell-last name, so I prefer more traditional names. All of my kids each have their own unique nick name though :D

I just hope that this baby fits his/her name as well as the other ones do...I'm so afraid I won't be able to find the perfect name for him/her. I told my dh I don't need to know THE name, I just need two or three names we settled on and will decide after the baby is here...apparently, that's still too much pressure, cause he doesn't even like to talk about names!

Thanks for sharing your ideas! Sorry I rambled, but I do have a name I liked since grade school...Laryssa. Does anyone have any thoughts (good or bad) about it?

I'm intruding. . . but I couldn't resist, sorry. Such beautiful names! I really like Alia, and so many of the others.
I just wanted to say to the two mamas who decided against Daisy - excellent choice. I would normally never say something like that BUT, Daisy has been on the list of top 10 dog names for atleast 5 years. I know about 7 dogs named Daisy and somehow it would be like naming your sweet girl Rover or Spot (IMO).
Congrats to you all & happy name picking!

Yeah but there are a lot of boys named Charlie and so are dogs. I don't think that really matters IMO. Thanks for the imput though. I see your point.

I have had Emma Kathryn picked for 4 years now for a girl
Christian for a boy (not sure of middle name yet, probably David)

I like Anje and it's various formations as well! Alas, we have no girl names picked out yet!!

For boys we've come up with:

Haaland William

It's a Norwegian name and was a family name on my mother's side. I'm still not sure if it's going to sit right with me, but I like the uniqueness of it. We gave ds#1 a unique name and would like something fairly unique for dc#2, too.

We have selected Ian Mark or Ian Paul for a boy and are *mostly* sure about Anneliese Beth for a girl (Ahn-uh-lees-uh, the German prn.)

We're all set with Sam. I'm thinking Samuel James for the full name. Our other two boys have very traditional names with a one syllable nickname so we are sticing with that trend.

If we would have had a girl she would have been Isabel Arwen.

I have a few girl names, dh has vetoed all of the boy names, but I will list them anyway.

For a girl, I like:
Stella Elizabeth
Loralei Anne (still not sure on this middle name)

For a boy I like:
Elijah (Eli) -but dh he had too many drug buddies in hs named that
Noah Alexander (I would call him Xander)
Ashton

I had my perfect girls name worked out: Alia Eowyn. I love it so much and it goes perfectly with Kaia Luthein.
BUT
We're having a boy!!!
So totally back to the drawing board for me lol
I did like Jude for a bit then realised it's a bible name (yeah, I'm slow lol). Plus as I expected DH didn't like it.

DH and I finally talked names this past weekend. I was amazed at how quickly we came to a consensus, but we still have months to change our minds. I love the names on this board.

Girl: Olive (not sure on the middle name yet)

Boy: Alexander--But we'd call him Lex

We have only come up with a boy name and aren't totally sure of the middle name. Here's our possibilities:
BOY
-Isaac Philip (I've liked the name Isaac since high school & Philip is DH's middle name and FIL's first name.)
GIRL
-Delia Anne (Totally haven't talked about this one yet, but I really like it, Delia pronounced Dee-lee-uh. Oh, this also goes well with Scheeli Rose.)

Lucretia - we like similar names, LOL. My dd's name is Kiri Maya, similar to your Kaia. :) And right now our #1 girl name is Alia. :lol I like that spelling the best, but I also like Aleah and Aliah. I like Leah, too. Dh nixed Della, which I thought was pretty. We both like Norah, too. And Annie. He liked Zeyna but I didn't.

For a boy we like Bennet. If we have a boy his middle name will be Louis, a family middle name on both sides. So Bennet Louis. I also like Nathaniel Louis, although that's much more common. I liked Ennis but dh said, yeah, and he'll be called Ennis the P*nis for the rest of his life, LOL. I liked Zion but dh hated it.Dh came up with Bennet and I am loving it!

For a girl, I like so far:
Sage, Cerridwen(if we decide this one and its a girl, possibly a different spelling)
Cheyenne

For a boy:
Hunter
I thought I had another name, I just haven't added to my list yet!

If we have a boy his name will be Jasper Matthew. Matthew is my husbands name and Casper is his nickname. I said no to Casper but Jasper is fine by me.

If it's a girl her name will be Sarah Patrice. Sarah's just a name we like and Patrice is my mom's middle name.

We haven't even discussed a boy's name yet but if it is a girl we are thinking about Lyric Allison.

Sagemama: all of ours have middle names that start with A. It is sort of a rule.

Our other kids are Trapolin Alexander, Darian Alexis and Riley Ann.

( Riley is my middle name) so we have to try to think of something that fits wit

those names. Not an easy task.

So totally back to the drawing board for me lol
I did like Jude for a bit then realised it's a bible name (yeah, I'm slow lol). Plus as I expected DH didn't like it.

Oh, come on now... is Jude really *that* biblical? (That's our boy name and we're not what you'd call biblical people) :LOL

Eowyn like LOTR? I love :love that name! But dh says that would make us uber nerds. :( He's vetoed every girl name so far and after 5 months, has managed to come up with two: Audrey (I vetoed this one) and Elenor, which I can't even spell! But I'm just so excited about the possibility of a name that I am totally cool with Elenor. (Better learn to spell it!) She could be Ellie or Nora. Yea!
