I'm pretty sure my dd has strep - 3 other kids in our playgroup came down with it late last week and she started showing signs yesterday.

I'm obviously concerned about getting it in terms of how a high fever would affect the new baby; I know it's pretty serious during the first trimester. If I should catch it I'm sure I'll be put on antibiotics and Tylenol to keep the fever down, but is there something natural I can do? Normally I take echinacea to fend off any illness, but I'm hesitant to take it while pregnant. My doctor is not a naturopath so I'm not sure who to ask about this. Any input would be great! TIA!

I had strep with my during my first pregnancy at around 6 weeks along. I had a fever of 102 and of course a very sore throat. I was put on augmentin and told to take tylenol.

Everything turned out just fine with my dd. She's great. I really don't know anything about something natural you could take. Just wanted to let you know, that I've been through this and we survived just fine.

Good Luck.

I don't think echinacea is safe for pregnancy, it seems to me that I read that somewhere. I had a sinus infection earlier and nearly had to take antibiotics (thankfully I was able to stick it out and it cleared up on its own) and my mw said penicilin (sp?) based antibiotics are safe. Unless you had a resistant strep, that would be sufficient to knock it out.

I hope that you don't get the strep!!!
