Possible get together in Rapid City, SD

Hey mamas!

Some other mamas in the Rapid City area are planning a meetup. We met on meetup.com, but none of their listed times and places have ever worked for us. I was hoping some AP mamas from here would want to get together too (the mom I'm currently talking to is nursing a toddler, so I'm not too scared anymore..lol). Any ideas for a location or time? We were hoping on the week after next. Hope to hear from you guys! :D

Hey Karlin, sounds like fun. I will be in RC on this Tuesday! Any chance of doing it that day? I'm going out to visit my friend who moved there.

Like 2 days from now Tuesday? My husband took that day off, but that doesn't mean we all can't meet for a little while. :) I checked the weather, and it looks like we won't have any rain that day (hopefully, it's been raining every day)...so maybe a park?

Yep, like two days from now! I think we are going to picnic and play at Storybook Island, so let me know if that will work!

OOOOH, we've been excited to take Duncan to Storybook Island since before he was even born...lol (my DH and I both have very fond memories from childhood). I think that's a great idea. What time were you thinking?

Let me get back to you later this evening. I need to talk to J and see what time. I'm planning to get out to RC around 10;00am. So probably right at noon, but will let you know for sure. I think we will be bringing picnic stuff, so hopefully you can join us! It would be great for J to meet some more people out there too, she's lonely!

Looks like we missed each other. We were there, but about 10 minutes late. We realized a little while before we left that we had lost Duncan's hat....so we ran to the store and got one, but were late because of it. We ended up eating at that picnic area and walking through Storybook Island.....beautiful day for it too!

Can we try it again? Not sure when I'm going to get out there, probably week after next. Karlin, Let me know how the AP meeting was. How did you find out about it?

My first meeting with the local AP group will be tomorrow hopefully. They sound very cool and nice (one mom is a doula, one recently had a homebirth). I'm excited to be meeting some like-minded mamas.

I'm also in the planning stages of a get together with some other moms from meetup.com. Looks like I will finally get to meet some people and hopefully make some friends. my hubby is out of town for work this week, so it should be fun.

Let me know when you're coming to town. Carmen Veranda is also interested in meeting up. :)

When you get the inside scoop on the lady with a homebirth, see if you can get a referral for me from her midwife! I am really going to consider that (homebirth) if I ever get pregnant again and the only one I'm aware of East River has stopped due to some lawsuit going on.

The whole transmission needs repaired in my van, so it won't be this week that's for sure! I would love to come sometime during your AP meeting though, so keep me posted!

I believe she had an unassisted homebirth. I don't think there are midwives here willing to go to jail to assist a homebirth.....crazy state we live in.

Isn't that the truth! What can we do to change that? I would consider unassisted also, so if she'd like to chat, tell her about me!

There were 3 other moms there, two of us were new. The mom who had the homebirth was there with newborn....what a little cutie! makes my ovaries ache...lol. The ladies were very cool and we just talked about whatever was on our minds. I guess we're having weekly meeting in a park on Tuesdays too.

Wish I was closer! I did get on the yahoo group and read back a few pages. It will be nice to have the connections for if I ever have another baby! Was there a Tonya there? She is a friend of my friend in Watertown and I think she goes to a group like that. She had a homebirth a year or so ago.

We meet at 10:30am at the library in meeting room B (which is upstairs). The library is at 610 Quincy street, dowtown. I think there's only one public library (the universities have libraries too). I think you'll fit in really well with us!

My son is 10 months, so maybe he and your youngest can play together!

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I grew up in Rapid City and there is so much I miss about it. Couldn't wait to leave- now I wish we could at least vacation there! :LOL
