First the good news! I had my u/s today and we found out that we are going to be the parents of three healthy boys :love Wow! I think this three boys thing is going to be a blast :D Now I can start buying clothes!

Now for the gripe. I tell mil that it's a boy and she says congrats and asks about the name. I have told her many times before that it will be Sam for a boy. We love that name. Will, Ben, and Sam just flow so well together. Not five minutes after I get off the phone, my sil calls, asking the sex of the baby. I tell her and we are just talking and then I hear mil in the background. Then sil says, "mom doesn't like the name. Her uncle molested her and the other girls in her family and his name was Sam." Okay, first I think it was awful that she was molested as a child BUT was this not the worst way of bringing this up? Could she not wait and tell dh and I this or just talk to dh instead of cornering me trying to get me to change the name? AND I am ticked that she is pinning this horrible association on an innocent newborn baby :irked: This little baby Sam (and yes we are still naming him that) had NOTHING to do with what happened to her. And she has known for how long that this is the name and now she brings it up in this bizarre fashion? Grrrr Way to rain on my parade. I just get so ticked when people think they have a say in what you name your kid. It isn't like it is some horrible name that will get him teased either. And now she is claiming that everyone in her family will not like this name. Well get OVER it. If she dislikes it that much she and the rest of her family need not see this baby. Okay, rant over.

first of all congrats!

and moms of three boys need to band together because people forever ask us if we want a girl next....blah blah blah

my family ALWAYS hates our names...

this time we are considering Guinevere or Attiticus

we are not even telling them.

i had differen names but when i told my sis she said they were too trendy (giselle and marius)...trendy? oh well.

:hug

Most days I think MILs were created to test our strength. Unfortunately I have failed this test several times. I'm glad you stood up for your name.

Congrats on the healthy boy.

Congrats on your 3 babies !!!!
My MIL, who is absolutely a nut case but anyway, she also said something ridiculous to me about the name of my DD. We named her in honor of my late mother, who also was my adoration and sadly couldn't met her only grandaughter :(, so my MIL told me that she didn't liked the name because she once had an employee with the same name that she didn't get along with :irked: :eyesroll ... and she wanted me to name her as her own mom... Of course the reasons of your MIL are more understandable but perhaps you can tell her that life is bringing her a new oportunity with an angel named Sam...
Forget about it ;) and enjoy your pregnancy!!

Thanks you guys. I feel a little better today after having talked it over with dh. He is going to talk to her and he agrees with keeping the name and that she will get over it.\

Oh, and yep, people do ask if we want a girl/are having a girl, but this is our last one so a girl is just not to be unless we adopt later. We're happy with our little clan of boys ;)

Congrats on the good news! and oh! when I first read your post I thought you were having three babes all at once and that you had just found out by an ultrasound... :D

My mom also didn't like the name of our first son because it was the name of my husband's father and grand father... She said it sounded to "Spanish" Mothers -not only mothers in law- always have something to say about everything :eyesroll

Congrats on the boys! I think the name Sam fits perfect with the other boys. Don't worry about the mil, she'll come around.

Fist, congratulations! I love all your boys' names, esp Sam!
Your MIL will just have to get over it, won't she? If it was that much of a problem, why not react earlier?
