I'm here. :) I'm Eva, WAHMama to Gretchen 3 1/2 and Koen will be 2 on the 8th. :love
I have antiphospholipid syndrome which evidently has been the cause of our 4 losses. I'm on daily aspirin currently and may or may not have to start heprin injections. Whatever it takes. :) It looks like I'll be followed by both the base clinic and a high-risk OB in the city. I would REALLY love to be able to have this baby in this wonderful birth center up near Annapolis but I don't know yet if that's a good idea or not being high-risk. We'll just have to wait and see. The good news is the hospital I'd be delivering at otherwise allows water births!! :twothumbs
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I'm Amy and due the end of Feb first of March. I'm usually late so it will probably be in March. I guess I'll be joining this due date club and Feb's due date club :LOL
Anyway, I feel awful. All day morning sickness but glad to be pregnant. We lost a baby a few months ago and I feel lucky to be at this point. 7 wks tomorrow! :)

I think I am due March 2.....I just found out a day or so ago...... This will be my second baby so I am nervous about taking care of 2 little ones at the same time...My dd Sarah will be 2.5 when the new baby arrives.........

Congrats Amanda and LeShea! :)
Does anyone know of a good book for nutrition during pregnancy. I'm really trying to be overly cautious this time. I have to watch my weight gain and the better I eat the less m/s hits me.

Welcome everyone!!!!
(Gale...I promise not to say anything...shhhhhhh)
I'm due beginning of March.....by ovulation it would be 3/2. My birthday is the fourth and that would make a cool birthday 3/4/5 so I'm hoping to be a couple days late.....though I know by the time I'm that far along I won't be hoping for that at all.
This will be baby #4 and final one for us.....I've pretty much determined the only way I will be having more is to have God throw us a curve ball and give me twins. I can't do a homebirth so I'll be doing a hopsital birth with a doula.
So far I'm the only one really excited/happy about it. My hubby agreed to one more but has become rather anxious/nervous and anything but excited about it since the announcement. My family will be 'worried' about us which is why we haven't told any one other than a few friends. The most common response so far is 'ANOTHER one????????' Makes a mom feel good eh?

UGH! I know what you mean. I had it for 9 months with my first, 7 months with my second and 6 months with my third. I haven't had anything more than some waves so far. I discovered the more milk I drink the worse it gets which was a lot of my problem with #3....I get heartburn really badly and drink milk to counter the heartburn which in turn made me nauseous. I'm avoiding all dairy as much as possible this go round. I hope you find something to help.

Kylie - I get so many awful comments. I'm having my sixth. "Are you done?" "Was this planned?" Etc, etc. :eyesroll I just smile and say yes it was planned, we don't know if we're done, and we're so excited! All of that is true. I used to get offended but now I just feel so lucky to have all these great kids! I told dh's mom yesterday (wanted us to be done after two kids). I didn't let her get a word in. I said "we're having another baby, it was planned, we're happy about it, we don't know if we're done, we're having a homebirth if you want to come you're welcome". She was stunned and actually said congratulations! She's never said that about ANY of the other kids!

The preggie pops do help. As does eating really, really tiny meals, little to know sugar (including many fruits) and very little dairy. I'm starving alot but have to control myself and eat in small doses. I've been drinking emergen -C once/day, taking lots of vit. B, floradix, and the prenatal good mornings by rainbow lite. Eating veggies seems to help alot too.

Thanks for the welcome gals. I had a bad case of depression in pregnancy and postpartum the first time around, much of it related to my pre-pregnancy diet. I am on a very low sugar and grain diet. I am working on cutting out grains altogether (but just had 1/4 piece of homemade rice bread). The only source of sugar in my diet (besides the bread) is fruit and I try to keep that limited. I am trying to maximize my nutritional intake with things like broth which is loaded with minerals.

Hi Ladies -- I'm here too (though a bit anxious to post, thinking I might jinx it, KWIM?)
I found out a week ago. Dh and I were actually planning on taking a break since I had 2 m/c's in 6 months. But surprise! Here I am -- and I wouldn't want it any other way. I haven't figured out my edd yet, but I know it's March.
Ravenmoon -- thanks for starting this. How did your results come out? I'm eager to hear!
Sounds as though a few of us here have had some losses -- how we all doing? I'm a bit better this week than last, but I'm still anxious about every cramp or sensation and I can't help but check the tp every time I go. Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic. Dh and I have even told most of the people we really love so that they may send any positive energy our way. Everyone has been very supportive. I'm very surprised, pleased, and excited about how my dh has embraced this baby -- I was worried he'd hold back a little after what we've been through. But he's been wonderful. If anything, I'm the one who's being more reserved.
I'm supposed to call my midwife to make an appt (she already knows I'm pregnant) but I don't feel ready to be poked and prodded yet. I'm sure she'll understand that.
What about you ladies? Any first appt's yet?
:love to all you March Mommas!

March 11 here - Well, officially the due date would be March 3, but since both my boys came 8 days late, I think I'll just figure that into my due date.
Wasn't planning on TTC until September, but then I went on vacation and didn't chart and didn't keep good track of the signs and, well, here I am. A little freaked out, but in a good way.
I do hate that I haven't been vigilant about taking my vitamins and eating well since I wasn't really TTC, but I am trying to convince myself that now is when it starts to matter.
Feeling a little nauseous today and feel asleep on the couch this afternoon (but that could be because I couldn't sleep last night after testing positive).
I am convinced this baby will be a boy also. But I will not find out until he (she?) is born.
Am considering a homebirth, but I need to meet with the midwife (there is only one locally) first.
I guess I'll need to amend my sig line soon!

Just stopping in to say hi to you all!!! Eva, I too tested positive for APS and I have rhuematoid arthritis, I'm on the baby asprin and heparin regamin and it's going well. Just need to have platelets checked on a monthly basis. Like you, after 3 losses, I was willing and eager to anything and everything to keep this baby--and today we saw a heartbeat and the little one was moving around and everything!!!

Hi Shannon,i am so glad you heard the heartbeat!
Welcome Kate(i've been waiting for you!) and Teensy.
My results were better then expected. They went from 33 to 213 in two days.I took another test today and will know on Wed.I refused the pelvic but will go for an U/S in two weeks.Too many losses not to need the reassurance of a heartbeat.

Thanks :) Yep, dh still doesnt know, long story. I want to bask in the happiness for a little while before telling him. About a week ago, he told me he was thinking about it and didnt think he wanted another one. He feels complete and doesnt have the time for another baby. I was going to go back on some type of bc once I started but....He will come arond, but I dont want to be dissapointed with his initial reaction. So for now I am hoarding the good news.

I understand that as well. Even though my hubby agreed to one more it wasn't because HE wanted one. I didn't even get a hug when I told him....he just kinda sat on the couch staring at me and said 'I knew it'. So much for joy. It's why I hesitate telling my family since I know it will be the same sort of reaction. My kids will be excited when I tell them though.

I'm here, too. Hopefully I'll get to stay. I'm going by the latest due date that I calculated, which is March 8. I used 3 different calculation methods. :D
I was going to not tell anyone IRL, but I had to tell the woman I got the free test from and she went and told everyone in my playgroup. :angry I'm not telling anyone, though. My mom doesn't even know that I've had 2 miscarriages, and my sister only knows about 1. If I make it to 3 months it will be more than soon enough to tell.
I'm a bit better this week than last, but I'm still anxious about every cramp or sensation and I can't help but check the tp every time I go. Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic.
Yeah, that's about how I'm feeling too. I get cramps most days, but they're like pre-period cramps and not the really deep feeling cramps I had before the miscarriages. I had one of those a couple of days ago and was really freaked out, so I went to bed at 11 and didn't get up until about 10:30 and started feeling fine.
Can't really do much about my nutrition since we don't have a lot of money. I'm taking a pre-natal every day and I'll probably start taking vitamin C and flax oil in a couple of weeks. Luckily I have quite a bit of both from before.

:D So this is where everyone is!!
WOOHOO!!
My name is Amanda, this is baby #2. I was nervous about telling dh, but he's happy. it's my MOTHER that I should worry about.
Thankfully my sweet little 2.5 yr old son decided to tell Gamma today that "I'M A BIG BROTHER" loud and clear as crystal!! Figures. He couldn't say it for daddy to understand, but Gamma. Who inturn told me I'm Crazy.
HA, she had her two children 11 yrs apart, and thinks EVERYONE should do that. BS MOM, MY KIDS, MY BODY, MY LIFE!! She's not birthing, or nurseing this baby is she? NO, so she should shut up about it. My Grandmother on the other hand had her two less than 2 yrs apart and thinks it's wonderful that they will be 3.5 yrs apart. :D Love my G-ma!!
Anyway, I'm due either March 3rd or 4th, depends on how you calculate! (I'm saying the 4th because of conception. And I'm hoping this is a girl! Dh wants to be done after two, and I'd like a girl before we're done.
We are also planning a homebirth! Wish us luck, and no transfers!

Welcome Devaskyla and Doulamom!
I know what you mean Heather.I told my dh after a whole week of knowing.I knew he wouldn't have much of a reaction but he did say he was running to get a vasectomy :eyesroll i haven't told anyone else. This is my 4th so there will be a lot of reaction.
Today was busy for me and i was in such a bad mood :bag: i will find out my beta results tomorrow.I am getting my Ultrasound in two weeks.

The vasectamy was threatened to me at the announcement of my fourth and fifth pregnancies. Then I miscarried a few months ago and when I got pg this time he said nothing about getting a vasectamy. He knows it's against our religion anyway. Geez. :)
kyle98sean02
06-29-2004, 09:45 PM
Hee Hee I got the vasectomy threat today too LOL. I broke down and told him. I just coldnt keep it to myself. He did OK, was shocked, but OK. Now once it wears in a little, I'll be able to be outwardly excited :) After my m/c in January though, it may take a few more weeks to not be so nervous. I dont want to tell anyone for a month or two if I can get away with it, but with both my other kids I started puking at 6 weeks and its an all day every day event. Since we will be moving into my parents house in 2 weeks while ours is being built, it might be obvious. My sil is due July 23 and her dr. says he will induce her at 39 weeks if she wants, so I am going to try and hold out until a little after her baby is born so she doesnt feel like I am stealing her thunder or anything. I'm sure she is going to whine that I am pg so close to her but oh well.

When we were ttc #3 we found out that my dh's sister was pregnant (she was the one that wasn't ever going to have children). I just knew that I'd get pregnant and everyone would say I did it just because she was pregnant so I slipped it in with my MIL that we were going to be trying soon also. Of course the 'she did it just because so and so did' came from my own grandmother regarding my other sil (we were due a couple months apart) which cracked us all up since we were openly discussing TTC methods at a family gathering and my grandmother was right there listening to us.
It's hard for me to say but I'm gonna anyway....I think the only way that my dh will be more than just okay with this pregnancy is if it turns out to be a girl. He seems to mourn the daughter we don't have more than I did.
kyle98sean02
06-29-2004, 10:47 PM
Thats exactly whats goingto happen with me too. I know it probably wont be said to my face, but I'll hear about it. My sil got pg with her first when I was pg with my second because she was jealous. She even came out and said we got married first, had our baby first and now we were having a second and she didnt even have a first yet. Then she had the one and only girl in the family and my poor baby didnt even get held on his first Christmas because there was a grand daughter. I already am dreading telling his family. I know they are going to want me to keep it from her for a while so she doesnt get mad that her baby isnt going to be the only one. Oh well, at least my family is wonderfully supportive and dont pick favorites or base their attention on the sex of the child :)
luvmy3boyz
06-29-2004, 11:19 PM
I know if this one is a girl that she will get a lotttt more attention than if this is a boy (not that a boy would get any less than the other boys). My in laws have 4 grandsons, no grandaughters, my side has 4 grandsons and one grandaughter that belongs to my brother....so girls are scarce to begin with. I kinda think it would be cool to have 'four of a kind'....not many people with that and I wouldn't have to worry too much about different activities.
As far as my hubby....I know he'll come around by the time the pregnancy is near over, I just think he'll be a bit more interested if it were a girl.
kyle98sean02
06-30-2004, 12:09 AM
Awww 4 of a ind is kinda cute sounding :) I'm pretty sure I'm having 3 of a kind :) I'd be really shocked if this is a girl. I wold lov to have someone to put in pink, but it is nice being the only girl.
luvmy3boyz
06-30-2004, 12:12 AM
I figured I'd get the license plate frame that says either 'Four of a kind' or '3 boys and a babe'. The thing I find quite ironic is for a living I make dance costumes...all sorts of frilly cutesy little girl dance costumes (and some not so cutesy ones too).

Congratulations ladies. It's good to see you all here.
We just got back from a short trip to visit my sister who asked my mom almost immediately if I was pregnant. My mom (who I did tell) apparently kept it under her hat, but she was absolutely shocked by the question since I hadn't talked about ttc (and we really weren't ttc, just not avoiding). With our first, it was months of turmoil and trauma.
So anyway, my mom and sister know now.

Ravenmoon -- great news on your numbers. You must be starting to feel relief now. I'm so happy for you.
I'm going to my m/w in an hour to get my blood work done. After 2 m/c's I want to make sure my progesterone levels are okay (anyone else have a sneaking suspicion that b/c pill can fool with your body's ability to make the proper amount of hormones after you get off of them? Oh, if I knew then what I know now!).
So, wish me luck. I've very emotional lately...it would be good to have some reassuring news.

Ravenmoon -- those numbers are skyrocketing. Twins?? :mischief
Can't really do much about my nutrition since we don't have a lot of money.
Some cheap/free ideas:
**Get soup bones from a butcher and make soup stock. It is loaded with minerals.
**Make your own kefir (a yogurt-like drink). You need kefir grains to culture the milk. With the grains, kefir is just the cost of milk. I've got grains to share if anyone wants some. But since it's the summer, the offer needs to wait for cooler weather for anyone far away -- they wouldn't ship well.
**Buy whole chickens on sale (I've gotten them for $3 and under US in the past). Make stock with the carcass when you're done.
**Stop eating any kind of refined items. Start with sugar (it's harder and more expensive at times to replace refined flour products). Not only do these have no nutrition, but they require nutrients in order to be digested. Thus, they are robbing your body of the nutrients you already have. You can't afford that while you're pregnant.
**Try to find a local source of goat's milk. I found two farmers who feed goat's milk to their dogs because they have such an abundance. Surely they would sell it cheap. (But the milk is raw, which is good, but might be against the law in some areas, so they might not risk selling it.)
**Farm eggs are usually about the price of store-bought eggs. They are fresher and usually have more nutrients. Look in the paper or search the countryside.
Devaskyla
07-01-2004, 03:24 PM
Thanks for the tips, Amanda. Might be able to get bones from Safeway's meat department, that's the closes thing I have to a butcher. :)
I've never heard of kefir, what kind of nutrients does it have? Or should I just look it up for myself? :lol
Whole chickens are pretty pricey here for some reason. I'll keep my eyes open for a decent special, though.
I've cut back on the sugar, but it very hard to get rid of it entirely. We've just managed to mostly get rid of trans fats, so I think we need to adjust to that before we do much about anything like sugar or flour. :)
There is one kind of goat's milk sold in the store, but it's a lot more expensive. I'm not sure there's even anyone my mom knows who has goats. And I can get coupons for free cow's milk. At least up here I don't have to worry about growth hormones in it.
My mom sometimes gets me farm eggs. We don't eat a lot of eggs, though. Although, when I was pregnant with Brandon I had a craving for soft boiled eggs for several weeks, so I might get that again. Horrible thought, I only like eggs poached, to make French toast (which we don't have very much) or in stuff, though I'll occasionally eat an omelet if dh makes it. :lol
I really need to eat more veggies, at least, even if they're only the frozen kind. From what I've read, frozen is the next best thing to fresh and it's a lot cheaper. I wish I had a garden, even though I really don't like gardening, I love fresh from the garden veggies. I really don't think my landlord or the other tenants would like me to pull up the grass to plant one, though. :lol

I actually told my mom today and she acted more excited than I thought she would. Of course it ended with her telling me I really needed to watch my health etc...this time around (like I didn't last time). Morning sickness struck me this morning but I think it's the milk. Can any of you guide me to calcium rich foods that are not dairy?
TIA!
Ravenmoon
07-01-2004, 05:10 PM
Dairy makes me really sick too.I can eat cheese though.Calcium can come from the dark leafy greens and broccoli. They are rich in calcium.I take extra calcium supplements as well.
I've been feeling ok.My nausea comes and goes and i spend a lot of time :inthet sleepy though.
I took another blood test which should be my last if it looks good.I won't know the results until Tuesday though. As far as my numbers go i hear it can be normal for some people to have higher numbers. If i were to have twins i would be so happy but if it is one healthy baby i would be just as happy.
Happy 4th everyone :love

Hi ladies.
Lisa-Marie -- here's a link with a bunch of kefir info:
http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html
It is a cultured milk product like yogurt and has multiple strains of beneficial bacteria. If you don't have a good balance of bacteria in your intestinal tract, you won't be able to absorb the nutrients in your food properly. It's also got loads of enzymes and other good properties.
On the goat's milk -- in the stores here it is also ridiculously priced -- something like $3/quart. That's why I've been working on getting it from a farm. It is also more easily digested than cow's milk. But if you can get cow's milk cheap or free, that's great. I would definitely use some of the milk to make kefir :) I can send some grains to you in October or so, but if you want to start before then, there is a whole on-line community with people who will send you grains (probably for the cost of shipping in that case).
Eat more eggs. It's good protein. Get dh to make more omelettes. :)

For you ladies with reactions to dairy, have you tried a cultured dairy product like yogurt? I used to react badly to dairy too and, in fact, to commercial yogurt. I was on such a strict diet and so wanted dairy that I took a chance and made homemade yogurt. I had no reaction whatsoever. I bought a yogurt maker to do it but there have been discussions on MDC about just doing it the old-fashioned way. If you are interested, search MDC for homemade yogurt, particularly the Health and Healing Forum. And of course, there is kefir too.

Hey Mamas!
Thought I'd check in here again. I've been on pin and needles and trying not to think baby so have been staying away. Then it hit me yesterday... OMGosh! I'm gonna have a baby!!! LOL Despite the 4 mc's I'm feeling causiously optimistic about this baby. I'm already nauseous ALL the time, I'm exhausted and boy am I moody! All good signs of course. Had my first appointment on Tuesday. I LOVE the 'other' doc that I actually wasn't going to see until I had to on Tuesday. He's now all I'll be seeing at that clinic thank you very much! LOL Very on top of things, supportive and HILARIOUS! Humor is vital! ;) My Beta on Monday at 10dpo was 82.5 and yesterday is was 243. :D Yay! And my progesterone was normal! That's a first! I had to be supplimented with both Koen and Gretchen. I talked with him again today and he's been talking with the perinatalogist that he likes up at Bethesda and put in a referal for me to see her. They're supposed to call in the morning to book the appointment. It's supposed to be next week and she'll be starting me on Lovenox then. Not at all nervous about the injections. Actually makes me feel good that we're doing everything humanly possible to keep this precious baby growing! :D
Hhmmm... is there anything else.... lol my brain is on vacation.
Oh and my next appointment is on the 21st with my new fav Doc, I'll be 7w1d so HOPEFULLY we'll get to see a heartbeat! :fingersx:
Kate- I'm also hyper aware of every little twinge and pain! Very nerve wracking but trying to keep the faith. :) I also check the tp every single time too!
SHannon- Hey! Whatcha on? Have you had any side effects? Needles don't bother me a bit so it seems like it wouldn't be a big deal at all. ANything to keep the baby right. WAHOOOO about the heartbeat! That is so wonderful!!!
Raven- WAHOO on those numbers! :D
Ok, I can't remember what else I wanted to post and really need to get to work. I'm at the point I'm no longer functional past 930 which is just no good! I normally work from the kids bedtime until 2-3am! lol
Oh I remember what I was gonna say! :duh About people's reactions. We just had a miscarriage June 1st. I was only about 5 weeks along and I ovulated just 2 weeks later hense the March 8th due date. Karl announced at a bbq with half the base present that we were pg. I wasn't too thrilled about that but was happy that he was so happy considering we weren't ttc. He of course had to then spread the word that we lost the baby. Everyone has been wonderfully supportive. But now that we're pg again so soon people are... kinda weird. Over all, happy for us but worried. I was worried about telling Karl. We had decided, really he decided and I respected his wishes, not to ttc for at least another year. Decided that 3 days post O! lol He just laughed when I told him and since he's been a bit distant about the pg. I know the mcs have hurt him more then he tends to show me so I think he's just trying to protect himself a bit. He's starting to warm up more. Hopefully soon, maybe after we see/hear a heartbeat, he'll come around more and get excited. :D My folks are coming to visit for Koen's 2nd bday next week. I had a "I'm a Big Brother" t-shirt made for him and that's how we'll tell them. While I know they'll be thrilled, they will be VERY worried. My mom is big on letting my body heal... I've been pg and/or nursing for the last 4+ years... so I know she'll say something along those lines. Which is fine but I really just want to be HAPPY. I'm pg! I'm sick! My levels look great! Let's be happy for however long it lasts!!!! :)
Oh and anyone have a feeling as to the flavor? I've had a feeling for a very long time that our 3rd would be a girl. And now, I feel it even more. lol Maybe it's just wishful thinking! LOL There aren't nearly as many adorable clothes and diapers for boys! lol Obviousely, whatever flavor we get is a blessing!
Ok, really am going to stop now. I may not post often but when I do.... watch out! lol
:sticky :sticky:sticky everyone! :D

LOLEva we are already having the flavor debate here. I think its going to be another boy, dh thinks girl. He as been right every time, so I may just be very happil suprised. It doesnt really matter either way, its a blessing any way I look at it :)

LOL Karl thinks/wants boy and I'm sure it's a girl. LOL Karl's such a goof. Gretchen is such a Daddy's Girl and I know he really enjoys that relationship with her but he can't wrestle with her like he can Koen. And he wants to wrestle 2 boys at once! LOL Hopefully it really is a girl then he'll want to try again for another boy! ;)

Hi fiercelove,welcome :love
I bought maternity clothes yesterday :yikes: My belly is growing already and all of my shirts are riding up.My pants aren't buttoning either. So i am wearing everything drawstring and some of my 'fat' pants but my 'fat' pants are huge in the legs and tight in the belly so they look funky.Maternity tank tops are great because they fit below the waist. This is my 4th kid in 6 years so my belly knows what to do.Plus it needed an excuse for me to stop sucking it in :eyesroll
I do not want to wait until tuesday for my blood results.I just want one more good result and i will be very happy.
Galeforce i was talking to a twin mom about her HCG levels and ours are nearly the same :dropjaw so whoa, maybe.Won't know till the U/S.
Is anyone else here having an early U/S?I am only becasue of my miscarriages. But i will opt for the 18 week also for reassurance that everything looks alright!

Fiercelove- Welcome and don't worry about it! You'll get the hang of it! :D Congrats!
Ravenmoon- I had to lol about you belly knowing what to do! LOL My belly has always popped out early. 9 weeks with Gretchen, 7 weeks with Koen and now at 4w with ??? it's already out! LOL Pretty much just look bloated and fat but it won't be long I suspect till I start getting comments. LOL Fine by me, that's one of my fav parts of pg! :)
I should be having an u/s on the 21st at 7w, plenty old enough to see the heartbeat. Then I'm supposed to have monthly u/s for the remainder of the pg and probably some NSTs at the end again as well. We didn't want to find out Koen's flavor before birth but he didn't give any other choice cause he flashed us every chance he got during the u/s's! LOL We'll see how this one does. ;)

Hi all,
Eva, I'm on Heparin, progesterone and baby aspirine, as well as still on my prednisone, we won't be weaning off it until the 3rd trimester, even if my arthritis goes into remission. I'm in hospital now because of the morning sickness, I got very dehydrated and my electrolytes are all out of wack. It sucks--big time. Still feeling pukey even with all this gravol in.
Hope everyone is doing well, back to bed (gotta love a laptop)

Shannon! :eek How did I miss that you were in the hospital? You poor thing. How long do you have to stay there?
I have done absolutely NOTHING this whole week. I feel so crappy. The house is so trashed. I'm embaressed but don't know what else to do. The OB gave me unisom? Said it would help with the m/s. Anyone ever tried that?

I've been feeling for the last week that this is another boy. I got a psychic prediction in my e-mail today (long story) that also said boy. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I'm going to be very surprised if this is a girl.
Gale Force, thanks for the info! and I'll try to force myself to choke down eggs a little more often. :)

Elblad, unisom mixed with vit B is the same as Diclectin that we get here in Canada. Many people find the b vit alone is enough--someone was talking about doses on our Feb thread. It helps me, but of course if I can't keep it down in the first place, it's not much good. Gravol suppositories do help me--but between them and the progesterone I feel like I spend all day "inserting" things  I'm hoping to be out of hospital tomorrow afternoon which should be a go if my potassium is back to normal.

I've been cramping on and off as well. It feels more like a full feeling pulling type thing. At least at the moment! I know it's very nerve wracking but everyone I've talked to has had cramping early on! :hug
Glad I"m not the only one who looks sooo pg already! LOL Yesterday I realized I couldn't suck in my stomach any where near flat any more and today when I'm just relaxed I look easily 4-5 months pg! LOL Think I might have to dig out my summer mat clothes later today. :LOL

OMG, I just fell off of a chair. I am packing because escrow closes on Friday and I was unloading a cubbord and turned to step down and fell. Heather- I'm so glad you're ok! Take it easy! I'm also a total clutz by nature and when pg.... I'm a true hazard! :rolleyes
I'm feeling rather rediculous these last 2 days. I've about given up trying to suck my stomach in, it hurts! It feels like I've been doing 200 situps instead of just my normal activity! I literally look at least 4 month pg. I'm 4w5d for heaven's sake!! If I wear my bigger clothes, I recently lost about 15 pounds and hadn't put away the bigger size yet, I just look really fat. But if I wear maternity which are of course the most comfortable I look like I'm 4-6 mons along! While I LOVE to look pg when I am pg, it's just soooo sooo early still, I don't want to jinx it or something by digging out all my summer mat clothes... I found a pair of shorts in my closet yesterday that fit great. The rest are in a bin in the garage... I guess I'll just wear the mat shorts and my bigger shirts for a while. I don't think I can handle digging out the mat shirts just yet.
And the high-risk ob nurse didn't return my calls on Friday to schedule my appointment and Monday's a holiday. :crying I don't understand why my doc here on base wouldn't just prescribe the lovenox himself. He told me flat out that's what she's going to do, he'd already talked with her about me. Hopefully they'll call first thing tuesday with my appointment. But if it's not for next week, I'm gonna insist base doc writes the script for me in the mean time. I don't feel at all comfortable waiting on this! The 1st trimester is the most dangerous with APS, I'm not willing to risk anything! Hopefully the aspirin alone will keep us going until the lovenox gets started. I was doing so well not stressing to much but now it's hit me. :crying I can't lose another baby! Isn't 4 enough already?!
Ok, time to stop whining and go love on the 2 amazing cuties I have right here with me. I am so blessed! Hugs everyone! Have a wonderful and safe 4th. We're going to go enjoy the festival here on base which will hopefully keep me distracted. lol
shannon0218
07-04-2004, 10:24 AM
Eva, I hope this helps, with APS, baby aspirin is actually more imperative than Lovenox/Heparin. The Hep is more important if you also have factor V leiden.

I just found out on Saturday! Unfortunately I'm in Germany right now, so I haven't even told dh yet! I'll be back in the States at the end of the week and I am so desperate for info (this is our first). I feel completely overwhelmed right now, and it is so darned frusterating that I can't just go to a bookstore (at least not an English language bookstore) to get some information.
So, the first order of business is finding a health care practioner, right? I've only known women who had hospital deliveries, so where do I start? I've always pictured a waterbirth at home, but it looks like we might be selling our house around that time so maybe I'll go somewhere. Do I have to decide these things now? Does how I plan to give birth effect who I choose for prenatal care?
Sorry about all the questions. We weren't TTC so this has sort of blindsided me, plus I feel so darned isolated being overseas right now! The only thing I've done so far is to buy prenatal vitamins...
Any (and I really do mean any) help or guidance you could give me would be very much appreciated!
Ravenmoon
07-05-2004, 11:07 AM
Welcome!Yes how you want to give birth does affect who you want as a practioner. You are in MI?I don't know about the Detroit area but there are some amazing midwives in Ann Arbor. With a midwife your meetings are much more personal and open. You can have a homebirth or at a birth center. With a Dr or OB/GYN you will have quickie meetings once a month and a hospital birth. You will have to fight for no epidural and all the things they do to babies in MI.Their are waivers you can sign even if they tell you there aren't.
Congrats again and i hope this answers some of your questions.
Had a fun weekend here.Beautiful weather and we barbecued last night.I'll be gone all this week to camp in Big Sur!

Thanks Ravenmoon!
I thought of another question this morning, as I was finishing my German breakfast of cold-smoked salmon, air-cured ham and unpasturized blue cheese (they've never heard of Atkins here, but I think it would go over big time!). Literally as I finished the last bite, it hit me that I probably shouldn't be eating any of those things, right?
I know that I shouldn't drink anything alcoholic, and I remember a pregnant coworker saying that she couldn't have any sushi, but what about other things like that? And lunch meat is iffy because of lysteria, right?
Oh why didn't I pay more attention when my friends were pregnant????
BTW, I'm in the Detroit area. I think I've found a birth center that does waterbirths nearby so step 1 of my pregnancy organization checklist is done. Just 3,456,499 things to go...
kyle98sean02
07-06-2004, 11:15 AM
I am kinda bummed right now. I just learned that midwives cannot attend a vbac homebirth in AZ :( Its really hard to get approval at the one birthing center within 100 miles of where I am going to be living too :( :(. I so dont want another c-section, but how many OB's are going to be willing to do a Vba2c. Off to do more research of the area.
Devaskyla
07-06-2004, 03:10 PM
You might be able to find someone who is willing to attend you at home anyway. Never hurts to ask! :)
Cholderby, I don't know about the salmon or the ham. I think they would be ok, but the soft cheeses, especially blue ones should be avoided during pregnancy. There is some concern with listeria and deli meats, but I've never worried about it. Sushi is another one to avoid, as are shark, swordfish, more than 1 can of tuna a week, too much sugar (although chocolate seems to make for happier babies, so you kind of need to balance those 2 out)and caffeine (especially from coffee and soft drinks). I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting. :)
Things you should be getting: lots of water, protein, salt foods to taste (preferably with mineral salt), omega 3's (from flax oil, fish oil capsules or cod liver oil, the last 2 are the best), general good nutrition... I think that about sums up my knowledge of "extras" for pregnancy. :)

Heather...
There are a few places here where you can do a shout out asking about midwives for homebirths in your area who will do a vbac.
No one will do it in Maryland who is part of a practice, but there are usually lay midwives or dem's.
I think I went to the practitioner database and one other place.... I hope you find someone :)
It's so hard during a pregnancy because even though you're so set on the way you want things to be, you are also so vulnerable to what many people say and want you to do. The best way to get away from that is to avoid the wrong kinds of people. Hopefully you'll find that!!!
Take care,
Karen

For you ladies with reactions to dairy, have you tried a cultured dairy product like yogurt? I used to react badly to dairy too and, in fact, to commercial yogurt. I was on such a strict diet and so wanted dairy that I took a chance and made homemade yogurt. I had no reaction whatsoever. I bought a yogurt maker to do it but there have been discussions on MDC about just doing it the old-fashioned way. If you are interested, search MDC for homemade yogurt, particularly the Health and Healing Forum. And of course, there is kefir too.
I don't know how many (if any of y'all) are local to an oakhurst dairy (I know they're based in Maine) .. But they're now selling a cultured milk - similar to kefir but not as thick - "fortified" with probiotics and active cultures.. They call it Nutrish - it's 1.5% milk .. I'm normally lactose intolerant (according to DH :P He hates it when I fart.) but i've yet to have any problem with this milk =)

It's actually our 3rd .. We sued for custody of my neice and nephews because of neglect/abuse/drug issues with their parents - we'd heard from MIL that Chelse's teacher had called her and told her Chelse had kissed another girl in their classroom .. and Chelse said it was because her father told her to "Try it sometime. Your Mommy does it and likes it." .. They've only been living with us a few months now, but already we're "mom" and "dad" to them.. When BIL wanted to see them last weekend, we asked how they felt about it .. Chelse said "he's not my dad, dad's my dad, he's just some jerk that hit me." (She's 6, BTW) and the boys agreed. Neither of their parents have any visitation whatsoever, unless it's decided by DH and I to allow it .
We've gone through so many issues with these 3 already .. I really think they were more than just physically abused and neglected - Chelse shows so many signs of past sexual abuse it terrifies me - she's also not yet toilet trained (none of them are, although we're getting better at the potty!) - at 6y/o with no physical developmental problems. JJ acts out almost constantly - hitting, biting, temper tantrums .. he's 4, and would rather watch a slasher movie than play outside. And Benjy's 2 .. with such severe asthma (BIL and ex-SIL claim he was born with it, but I have more of a feeling it has to due with their chainsmoking and weed in front of the kids.) that he has attacks just walking, sometimes.. Although it's gotten a lot better now that he's been out of smoke. All three had been dx'd with FTT in infancy, and even in toddlerhood. Chelse's 6, and weighs about 30lbs, JJ's 4, and probably close to 50lbs, and Ben, at 2, weighs the same as our 1y/o DD - 20.4 lbs.
They're a constant trial, especially with 5y/o DS Jon, 1y/o DD, and another on the way, but I've seen them change so much in a few short months, and I love them as much as I do our "birthed" babies =)

Hey Pregos! Just wanted to check in real quick before my folks get here for the day. We're having a wonderful visit. THey were thrilled to find out about our new little one that's incubating. It was so funny. My mom noticed ds shirt immediately! My Pop on the other hand... well he noticed it... read it... read it again and was like "What are you laughing about?!" LMBO :LOL Then he jumped out of his seat saying "OH!!! OH!!! YAY!!!" LOL It's a riot how an incredibly intelligent man can be so clueless sometime! :D They're of course concerned about all the blood thinners and such but are supportive as ever. :love
DS birthday was wonderful! I still can't believe my baby boy is TWO! Boy does he act like it too! I need to go check out the gentle discipline board cause what worked great on dd isn't working at all on ds! LOL I need some new strategies!
I'm not nearly as pukey as long as I stay hydrated but it seems to have switched ends... if ya know what I mean :inthet ;) And I'm more exhausted then ever. So I'm still very hopeful that this one is a keeper. :1praying: Oh and did I meantion the breast PAIN? Forget tender they just downright hurt! Especially when ds first latches on! Just as it was when I was pg with ds and nursing dd. YOUCH! I have to keep reminding myself how wonderful it was tandem nursing dd and ds, I'm convinced it really helped her with the transition of adding a new family member and hope it'll do the same for ds... anyone else here pg and nursing?
I see there's a bunch of new pregos that have joined us. :w
I better run, my folks should be here for the days running around soon and the kids aren't dressed yet.
Have a great day everyone!

Count me in, ladies!!!!!
Just got a BFP this am, 3:00 this am, because I woke up having to pee, so really I wonder how necessary the test was! :eyesroll
Just kidding... desparately needed the confirm. I'm guessing I'm due on March 16th. DH was very happy; we've been wanting another one for months now. Had a miscarriage in April (not to make pg women cry but: found out I was pregnant the day my grandmother died, m/c 5 days later; that hurt) but I'm not at all worried about this one. Call me crazy, but there was wierd stuff about that one from the beginning, and this one is obvious, and has been from literally day one. My boobs started to hurt right after I think I concieved. And I mean like a day or two after. Strange, huh? Of course that means that they have been painful for THREE WEEKS NOW! Always fun with a squirmy toddler in your lap. My DD turned three on 7/4 - took her to fireworks for the first time this year!
Anyway, symptoms - I've been exhausted for a week now, boobs hurt, have to pee and HUNGRY!!! I didn't get sick with DD until week 6, so probably that'll happen again.
Sorry for the novel. I don't post often, so often post long! :)

I'm back ladies. That was one heck of a back thing I had.....could hardly move for a couple days. Morning sickness has come in full blast for me. I was sick 4 times before 9 am yesterday and it's started this morning already. I'm trying the morning wellness tea that's supposed to be for morning sickness so we'll see how it goes this morning.
It's my middle sons birthday party today. His birthday was yesterday and my mom took him to the circus. He had an absolute blast. I've been trying for a while to get the grandparents to take the kids to do something with them one on one instead of buying him toys that they don't need/use and this is the first time one of them followed through.
Congratulations to everyone whose joined the list while I was gone.
Hi melissa, congratulations! We have the same due date, and our dh's have the same name! Spooky!
Sorry for the m/c, but I also understand what you mean about this one feelign "different" somehow. My last m/c i almost expected to lose it, and never really attached to the baby somehow (not that that made it any easier). This one does feel very different. :fingersx:
Eva, I'm nursing a 2.5 yr old. I'm wondering if it will get painful or difficult. I hope not. I've already told Ds that when we have a little baby they can share the milkie, and he seemed to like the idea :D
My boobs are a bit sore and heavy but nothing too bad. Instead I am just INCREDIBLY tired, all the time, like someone injected me with a sleeping drug. Right now I just slept a good long 8 hrs, but got up feeling like I've been up all night.
Yesterday we went to the ocean (aaaah) and took a long windy country road back, and I felt absolutely AWFUL, on the edge of barfing the whole way. So I guess m/s is beginning to kick in big time. I had it really bad for 5 months with DS.
Ok, I'm going back to bed! :zzz

Muse- When I was pg with ds and nursing dd, she was just a year old at the time, it didn't start to hurt when she first latched on until about 7-8 weeks. Everything's happened much earlier with this baby. THe good think is it only hurts for a couple seconds when he first latches on, then is fine. I LOVED tandem nursing. Gretchen only just recently weaned at 3 1/2 so they shared the good stuff for well over a year and a half. It was wonderful! I truly feel it helped Gretchen deal with the turmoil that comes with a new baby in the house. I so hope Koen doesn't wean when my milk dries up. I get the feeling he could use that extra comfort at 2 1/2 come march more then Gretchen might have at 20 months. They are totally different personalities so who knows how it'll actually work out. :D He's not showing any signs of weaning so so far so good. :D
Best of luck!

Hello! :hola:
I posted my intro over on the Who's Who thread, but I thought I'd pop over here - though I admit to being confused, lol, there's a Weekly Thread and then a dated Weekly Thread both recently active. I'll just post hello on both, I suppose. :)
I just got a BFP this morning, 13 dpo, though I've suspected for at least five days.
Nice to meet you all!
