Hello everyone. Sorry for the late start this morning. DD decided to go on a nursing marathon last night. She's been putting her fingers in her mouth alot lately, and saying "boo-boo" when I brush her teeth. I wonder if her molars are starting to come in. Oh Joy. :zzz
I went to a baby shower for a colleague yesterday. I was the only mama there. It was alot of fun: I don't usually get out to parties (DH took DD for the afternoon). I gave the new mama-to-be a sling. She doesn't speak a whole lot of English, and I won't be here when her baby is born to show her. But I hope they get as much use out of it as I do mine!
Question of the Week: how's the swelling?
Okay, lame question but I'm fresh out of ideas with my brain in a fog, lol. I've noticed my ankles starting to swell already. This didn't happen last time until well into my third trimester. Makes me wonder how bad they'll be by then, lol. I'm trying to keep drinking lots of water!
Lucysmama: just read your last post on last week's thread. I, too, have noticed much increased peeing lately, with not alot of production...lol. I think my baby's head must be on my bladder, too. I was worried at first it might be a UTI, but no pain or other symptoms (I used to suffer from them chronically, so I know one for sure when I feel it).

Hi everyone. Had a busy weekend of painting our new windows in our half-way remodeled attic (soon-to-be master bedroom/nursery). We live in an old house and every inch is covered (or was covered until Huricane Nancy blew through) in chipped and peeling lead paint. We've just replaced all of our old double-hung windows with brand spanking new wood double-hungs and they are absolutely gorgeous :love . And no chipping paint! I don't even want to hang the curtains back up, I'm so in love with these new windows.... Can't wait to lie on the floor with the baby and gaze up at the clouds blowing by... :love
So regarding QOTW: YES to the swelling! It has been hot here in Portland, and standing around in a hot attic all weekend can really have an effect on the ankles! And mine aren't very dainty to begin with, so I feel like I have absolute tree trunks for legs these days.
I did get out for a nice long bike ride (to Portland's newest knitting shop/cafe, Mabels http://www.mabelscafe.com/ very cute place with killer lattes and a friendly staff!) and it felt so good to get some exercise. Anyone know if they make padded bike shorts for pregnant women? My butt is killing me. :innocent
Have a good week everyone! :)

I realized its another week, so I'll start! :D Thanks yall for caring! I'm back, Praise the Lord, I was wondering! :shake Bad weather in Atlanta kept us in the airport for several hours, even sending planes back to the concourse. Hartsfield was shut down. I didn't get home until 2 am, things were backed up then. I'm just glad not to be stuck somewhere. Its definately a lazy day. :p
Wow! this baby is moving! Sometimes I will jump b/c it startles me! A different sensation like he's doing the worm or something! :LOL Or a hard one! How about I peed and got kicked and my pee stopped! :LOL I feel ya on the pee thing. I feel like I'm constantly going. And lemme tell ya, traveling and hovering over toilets in airports and restaurants is not so great. I'm so glad to plop my butt on my own. Well, I got the tmi award! :bag: :LOL I was thinking UTI myself with a little trickle here and there. I think I'm allright tho. I wonder if kegels will help....:scratch
A little swelling early; but, none now. I cut my salt and it went down. I know its gotta be hard to think of QOTW. Maybe we can help give you some ideas.
I lost track....am I 24 or so? :scratch :LOL I lost track of days in NO. Obviously and well, I don't do that anyway, I wasn't carousing on Bourbon street. I got a romper for the baby. :love Says somebody who loves me very much went to New Orleans and got me this shirt. I couldn't help myself. I keep thinking of the baby when I travel now. :love

I almost started the thread for you this morning Piglet, but I didn't want to hurt your feelings and take your job away. :innocent
It's been a good day for me here, I mentioned at the end of the last thread my UTI is GONE and Cranactin rocks. :) I'm going to continue taking 1-2 a day to be sure I don't get another infection, I want to take no chances that I will go into labor again. Baby has a LOT more cooking to do!!! Going to my parents' for the week as DH will be underway most of the week, and this way I can have lots of help and not have to strain myself.
For anyone interested, Old Navy has maternity swimsuits on sale half price....$15!!! Gonna go order one for myself. If you spend $85 or more use promo code 73dqw2fh8d for free shipping.
Sometimes I find myself peeing more often depending on what the baby's doing. But not too often yet.

QOTW: I have slight swelling off and on if I have been sitting in the same position for an extended period of time. Otherwise, its not too bad. We are having a very cool summer this year in WI so I am not battling any heat-induced swelling.
Had an ok weekend. I have been fighting a head cold, so I laid low and tried to get some rest. I am getting to where I am going to need to get some maternity capris. So far I have been able to still where my normal clothes, but that is soon coming to an end.
Hope you all have a great week--will check back in later:)

Hi Everyone!
Last night Ember had a sleepover at her Aunties (it was her idea, it's the only place that she stays and I am sure it is because she sleeps with either her Auntie or her cousin Samantha who is 15 and adores her)...I didn't have a good sleep without her in our bed :LOL...kept waking up all night! She has recently been talking about sleeping in her own bed so I guess I should start trying to get used to it, although she says she is too scared to so it might take awhile.
I just finished picking about 20lbs of cherries off our cherry tree...mmmm :) There are still more even! It's only our second summer in this house so it is really exciting for me to have my own fruit, and I know it's organic to boot!
QOTW- Actually so far I haven't experienced any swelling, knock on wood. My wedding ring still fits at this point, can't remember when I had to take it off last time. I didn't experience too much swelling right up until a few days before I delievered Ember, there was one occasion when I couldn't get my shoes on with the laces in them but that's about the only time I remember.

HI mamas.....
I need some goooooooood mama vibes. I am very very ill. It turns out that I DID have a urniary infection, but I didn't know it until last night, when I woke up in SEVERE pain with a high fever, and the chills. The infection had travelled out of my bladder, upward to my kidneys, and had gotten very serious without presenting many symptoms. I guess that is how Kidney Infections can happen - be totally silent and then WHAM! you are in awful pain and very ill.
I had been feeling pretty crappy for a few days, but I just chalked it up to the pregnancy. My back was really hurting me, I had that constant peeing thing (but no burning, which is why I didn't suspect UTI.) and I was really fatigued. Now that I type that out, I realize I should have put it all together, but those are all normal pregnancy complaints.
So, it was around 5am last night that I woke up writhing in pain and I had to wake up dh. I went in to be seen by a doctor, and they confirmed I have a severe infection, though I was allowed to go home and be on total rest. (No worries there - I literally cannot stand up, pick Lucy up, etc.) Baby is fine, lots of movement, and only a few BH contractions. I do have to be on very strong antibiotics, though. That makes me very unhappy. I'm a pregnancy-purist. And I have to take constant pain meds cause when they wore off I was in tears from the pain. :( I spoke with my MW and she assured me that she would have recommended the same course of action. She is also getting me some herbs and probiotics as a safe measure. So for now I am home, unless the infection worsens.
Please send me some healin' vibes....I am really freakin sick.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, and so sorry to be a downer!

hello all you beautiful bellyfull mamas!
I am new to the list but have been reading for a while and am so relieved to find a place to share all the "adventures" of being pregnant. This will be my third babe and our little gal- yes they say it's a girl- has been long awaited for!!
As for the UTI's--- I am absolutely sending good positive healing vibes your way! Having a UTI is horrible enough when you aren't pregnant.
QOTW- only swelling when the humidity is way up there, so it hasn't been too often.
What I do get are leg cramps in the middle of the night. They are pretty mild if I catch them in time and flex my foot right away.
Have a good week everyone :love

Oh Katie I'm so sorry. :( At least you didn't go into labor though! :hug I bet you will be feeling much better tomorrow after the antibiotics take effect.
And yep Letia, the UTI caused my PTL. It's apparently not uncommon, so if you ever have any signs of one, get it checked out quic! Though I have to say I had zero symptoms and never would have known it if it hadn't been for the PTL.

Thanks amy - :hug Glad you are feeling better too.
My MIL is watching Lucy, because I cannot do it. As bad as it sounds, I don't even wanna play with her right now. It's too much. The pain is very localized (in my lower back and side - my right Kidney is the infected one.) but very debilitating. Ok, enough computer. I'm going back to sleep.

06-28-2004, 02:52 PM
We were having computer problems last week. Every time I tried to post, the web browser would crash, so I'm now a week behind. Several times I had just finished typing out a long post or email only to have Internet Explorer crash everytime I went to hit send/post! Frustrating!
Amy and Katie, I unfortunately get the join the UTI club also. I've had infections in the past, but this was nothing like what I'm used to. No burning or stinging, just an overall achiness and tenderness in the abdominal area. I hit the CranActin pretty hard after reading some of Amy's first posts and everything was okay within a day or two.
I was happy to avoid antibiotics with the UTI and just when it cleared up, I went to the doctor about a big purple spot on my leg that had been there since camping a week prior. As it turns out, I was diagnosed with Lyme's disease. Lyme's disease in pregnancy can have some pretty grim outcomes, so I was immediatly put on a whopping course of antibiotics. Three whole weeks of a relatively high dose of penicillin. Yeast infection, here I come! :irked: Anyhow, there's no way to tell for sure if it is Lyme's or something else, but its not worth taking chances. There is a blood test, but apparently it takes up to a month or longer for your body to produce enough antibodies to get an accurate test. Since I'm pregnant, waiting isn't advisable. Even my midwife, who is very conservative when it comes to the use of many medications, strongly urged me to start the antibiotics ASAP.
I've only been on the antibiotics since Friday, so in the meantime I'm taking mega doses of probiotics and still also doubling up on the CranActin. I hoping to ward off the nasty little yeasties, but I honestly don't have much faith...I'm afraid that a yeast infection is going to be inevitable given how prone I am to getting them even when I'm not pregnant and on antibiotics...
QOTW: No noticable swelling yet...knock on wood!
On an unrelated topic, I scored some great maternity clothes this weekend. Someone my mother knows gave her two large boxes filled with maternity clothes. Some of them were pretty hideous, but there were still MANY useful and nice things. I also bought some very stylish outfits at a garage sale. While cleaning out my closet yesterday, I realized that I now have way nicer, more up-to-date, name-brand (not that it really matters), and just a better overall selection of maternity clothes than I have in my regular wardrobe! Not bad, considering that most of it came to me for free or very inexpensively. Being able to dress a bit nicer has kind of uplifting in a weird way, so I told my husband that after the baby's born we're going to have to find a bit of money to update my regular clothes and get rid of many of my old raggedy and sloppy-looking clothes.
Uh-oh, I hear someone waking up from their nap...let's hope that the computer doesn't crash right as I go to submit this reply again!

24 weeks!
Oh, lucysmama...I'm so sad to hear that you are so sick!!!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Antibiotics really work their magic quickly, so I'm sure in no time you will be feeling MUCH better.
Hugs to the rest of you fighting UTI's too. :hug
sunshinegal: glad you delurked to post with us! :)
trueblue: thanks for the tip on the maternity swimsuits. There's a water park opening near us on July 10 and I know DD will want to go. I was thinking I have nothing to wear in the water, but didn't want to spend $$$ on something I'll likely use only a handful of times...I'm heading over to the Old Navy site to check them out.

Oh Katie and Futuremama, I hope you recover quickly! I hate hearing about you guys getting sick. As for me, I still haven't heard the results as to whether or not I had a UTI, but I've been taking the antibiotics anyways, just to be on the safe side. My midwife was warning me about how easily a kidney infection can sneak up on you in pregnancy, since the symptoms for UTI can be veiled.
QOTW: I noticed some swelling in my feet the other day after being on them for a long time, but other than that, nothing. With the last preg., I didn't swell up until after the delivery, and then my feet and ankles were huge.
We had a nice relaxing weekend. Dh let me take a nap, and that was so nice. He also went on a cleaning rampage in the kitchen and is so proud of himself. He does this about once every 6 weeks. He decides to clean and organize and then talks about it incessently like he should get a medal or something. I'm not complainin' though, the kitchen does look nice.
Embersmom-about the screen name change, I like Autumnbabes too. I also like any combo of your kids' names like, OakEmbers or something. Maybe that's too cheesy, I don't know. I'm gonna change mine too eventually. It's too long anyway right now.

I feel for those of you with an UTI-I had one early already and only get them when I'm pregnant, I'm sure I'll get another before all is said and done!
No swelling here but I usually never do-knock on wood. But my belly definitely expanded in the last week! My main 2 prs of pants that fit last week are way too tight this week :( Alas, it was bound to happen I guess since they weren't really maternity-just stretchy larges-those will go into the post partum pile...
Did I mention last week that the official move day is July 31?? yippee-we'll fly to Seattle then have to close on Aug 2 on the house-can't move in until Aug 5 for some reason but that's fine-at least we'll BE THERE!
Just twiddling my thumbs now waiting to get moving! I don't have to pack since we have one of those deals that they move everything! They actually ask that you don't pack anything so they can be better organized-fine with me! With DH gone all week it gets a little stressful but we're hanging in there :)
Take care

Holy smokes! I made it to the third trimester! Yay! :carrot :carrot :carrot
Katie and Futuremama - I am so sorry to hear about the UTIs. I hope you both get better soon. I really had no idea that UTIs were so common during pregnancy. Sending healing vibes your way!
QOTW: I had to take off my wedding rings last week and know wear them on a chain around my neck. And by the end of the day my feet get pretty swollen and uncomfortable. But I am naturally prone to swelling even when not pregnant so it's no surprise.
Amie - Why do our kids have to grow up so fast!
Had a bad converstion with my mom last night. I tried to explain to her that we are thinking that we don't want any house guests until a week or so after the baby's born and she freaked out. We live in a small two bedroom condo and we are hoping to have a very peaceful and calm transition time for our family (my mom and I have not had a very calm and peaceful relationship. the last 2 times she's been down to visit she has threatened to cut me out of her life forever). But my mother kept going on and on about how painful it will be for her not to be here. I tried to explain to her that we felt the Alias would best be able to adjust to having a baby brother if he had no other disruptions in his routine but she just kept talking about how hurt she will be. I then tried to explain how difficult it would be for Alias to get ready in the morning and go to his new daycare (he'll be starting half day toddler care three times a week in September) with a new baby in the house and his grandmother sleeping in the living room (she refuses to sleep in the spare room, too many toys). She then got angry with me that I would dare send Alias to daycare while she was here (she wants to stay for 2 and a half weeks). Right now I'm at a loss as to what to do. The way I feel right now, I don't want her down here at all. Her reaction to my arguments seemed to confirm any suspicions that I had that her comming into town for 2 and a half weeks would become a huge stressful disruption during a time when I feel that things should be as calm and as peaceful as possible. But I hate that my mom is feeling so hurt. And I hate that she is continuing to manipulate me even though she is 3000 mile away! Aaarrgh!
On a more posistive note... Welcome sunshinegal, so glad you joined our little goup.

:hug she should really respect your wishes though. You'll just have to tell her that she is welcome later; but, not at that time. If she can't respect your wishes, then maybe you need to revisit her coming at a later time. I hate for your to tell her she's not welcome at all...so maybe yall should discuss it later if she can't respect your wishes.

Katie and Futuremama: a candle burns for you mama's tonight!
Welcome to sunshinegal!
No swelling so far, sometimes when I wear my chaco's it feels like my feet are on the verge of swelling, that or pruning.
This weekend was nice, massage and adjustment on sat. Followed up with 18 holes of puttt putt in the cruel heat, a yucky bison burger (what was I thinking) and some rocking ice cream from coldstone creamery :love
Sunday was spent at Stone Mountain, which is exactly what it sounds like a HUGE stone! It was a really nice time (although we were stuck on top of the mountain in a lightninig storm for 45 minutes) Got some really cool photos!
Well, thanks to you loving mama's vibes looks like we'll be closing on our house in the next 2 weeks! I'm telling you, we are some powerful creatures while gestating especially ;)
Trying real hard to stay connected with Miles while my mind has been on so many other things.. He's such a beautiful child, I wish I could put things on pause for a few days.
Mirthful, sorry about your mom :eyesroll They bug sometimes huh?

Mirthfulmum-I feel for you girl! :hug I said the same thing to my mom with my first 2 babes and she threw a fit about how rude she thought it was...I had also said visitors could only come between 10am - 5pm since after 5pm I was wiped out and this ticked her off that she had to stick with "visiting hrs" I still hear about that after all these yrs. I just ignore it.
In some ways I'm so glad to moving across the country ;) Of course, she'll be there for thanksgiving which will be just 3 wks after this one is born and my DHs parents are coming about when it's due so we'll have someone to watch the kids just in case we need it-I really hate having to ask them to be there but since we really won't be there that long to know people to ask them to take our kids for overnight potentially we thought it was wise. I'm just hoping I can hide out and they'll spend time with the other kids and leave me and the babe alone most of the time...we'll see
OK, enough rambling, off to bed

mirthful: congrats on being the 1st to reach the third trimester!! I'm so sorry your mother is being so selfish. Stick to your guns. This precious time with the new baby and your family is not something to be squandered away b/c of some immature grownup's selfish "needs".
You ladies and your UTI's!!!!!!! OMG, I had the STRANGEST dreams last night all about uretal catheters, UTI's, surgery, etc....really weird!!
Ann - I'm so excited for you moving at the end of the month! I'm getting excited about moving too (end of August) but we don't have a place lined up yet, like you do.
momadance: great news about the closing! we're due to close our sale in early September. I'm hoping the great gestating mama vibes will work in our favour, too. :)
I went and bought one of the Old Navy swimsuits yesterday. I felt really guilty, but where can you get such a thing for so cheap! And I promised myself I would use it as much as possible! It was the style with the "shorts"-style bottoms...I like that b/c I have "bikini line issues", lol :blush Shaving really does a number on my skin there, looks awful. But these days I don't have the time or the money to get a wax, and my DH thinks the pain would send me into premature labour, lol.
Can't wait to hit the water park with DD!!

weeeeeeell! I don't have a UTI. My little resident was a thorough one. Check for leakage of amnio fluid, bv, some other infection I think. After we talked after she read my infamous chart, I let her have admission to check my cervix and she swabbed. I told her she was lucky. Going where noone had gone. :LOL I'm sure po thang at 1 am really felt so. :bag: I had more interventions this am than my whole pg!
Sooooooooo...I was cramping. For a couple hours. Laid on left side. Drank water. Realized it had been going over an hour and called. It was a cramp in my thigh, *not* muscular; but, I have them that radiate when :af is in town. She thought I had overdid it in NO; but, when I was uncomfortable and it wasn't backing off, I didn't want someone to escape. I called again and said I wanted to make sure. So, I trapsed out in the rain to Chapel Hill and they put me on an efm. They had a hard time finding his hb; but, I didn't freak. He'd been crazy all day. They caught him. :LOL Mama tried to get off; but, they wanted 15 minutes or so of monitoring.l And, he kept running. Sooooooooo....we heard the hb on stereo. :shrug And the kicking and running and when it stopped I freaked; but, he ran. :LOL He was in there showin off. They checked my urine. Checked for amnio leakage and all was fine. :blush She checked for every possible sign of ptl. She contended that the bags, of which I carried the lightest and dh was the pack mule. Walking a lot through the airport and NO and standing at the convention booth. I felt my body;and sat the am I had ctx;but, I guess it all caught up. And I'm *not* used to working! :p I was like a f/t job! Anyhoo! That's what I did this am! Po dh. Getting to bed at 3....
I feel silly; but, glad I went tho. If I was wrong, I couldn't live with myself.

25 weeks (I think??)
Katie, sending you super speedy healing vibes. How scary!!! Take it easy mama!
Swelling ... my fingers are slightly swollen ... they feel "tight" and my wedding ring is snug. I took it off just b/c it was bothering me slightly. I feel nekkid without it though *lol*
My DH's bike team got 11th place in their class, the best they've ever done. It was so beautiful out in the mountains, so nice to get away from real life for a long weekend *sigh*. We're heading out again later this week to visit family in Texas for another long weekend. Then, hopefully!, we're home 'till this baby is born. :)

Well, I am home after a grueling night at the hospital. I went in to the ER at around 10pm last night, because my fever had spiked to 104 degrees, and the pain had worsened significantly. The infection in my kidney had become acute.
They sent me right up to L&D because I am pregnant. In the first couple hours I was there they wanted to do the following procedures:
-Internal exam (I refused)
-Electronic Fetal Monitoring (I refused)
-Doppler (I refused)
-Nubain for pain (Refused that)
-Demerol for pain (Yup, refused that too.)
-Urine culture (I accepted)
-IV antibiotics (I accepted - that's why I went.)
Anyway, they REALLY didn't like me there. Not only that, but they eventually deduced that I was planning a homebirth. They sent a third-year resident in to try to talk me out of homebirthing!!!!! :rotflmao She had NO CLUE what she was talking about. She was making a total arse out of herself.
So, once I got the antibiotics (5 hours after I came) I started feeling better almost immediately. The pain was lessened, and my fever broke, and I "sweated it out." By this afternoon I was down to 98.4. BUT - the perinatologist woudn't release me, claiming that he wanted me there for another 24-48 hours, even though my fever was gone and I was feeling much better. He was SOOOOOOO hostile about my refusal "to let them care for me in an appropriate manner." He said he wouldn't release me. I really think he was just being a jerk. He was saying awful things.
So, I told them I was signing out AMA (Against Medical Advice) and that's just what we did. I called my midwife, who encouraged me to sign out considering my temp and pain level. I asked the peri for an oral antibiotic to take home, and we started to leave.
They had one more surprise for us, though! A case worker came in to try to convince us to stay, to allow a cervical check, to allow monitoring, and most of all - to birth in the hospital. I simply said it wasn't up for discussion or debate, that we knew the risks and benefits, and left it at that. She said that a social worker was on her way to talk to us. I told her we had already signed out, and we were leaving. So we did. As we walked down the hall to leave, the case worker shouted, "Wait! The social worker just got here!" and I said, "Oh, that's ok....we don't need to talk to her, we're fine. Thanks." And we left. :)
Anyway, I haven't had time to read through the thread yet, but I hope you mamas are all doing well!!!!

*I* understand why the reason for an internal and fetal monitoring for *me* (suspicion of ptl). But, what does your vagina and efm have to do with your temp and pain! its been dx that u have a UTI! :shake I guess just the fact you're pg, bring on the "appropriate care."
the talking you out of a hb is just rich. :splat I need to make some calls b/c as I scooted down the bed she said this is the position for birth, and I said I'm having a wb, and the nurse said she was told they don't do them there. She's a traveler tho, so....the resident said that folks are discouraged by the rentals. The practice nurse said L&D had rentals. I don't have to make my own arrangements.

OH man Katie!! I'm so glad you are ok. Personally, I'd have at least let them efm for a bit to make sure baby was ok, and I'm guessing the internal was to check for dilation, bc honestly I didn't know I was in labor when I dilated, and was pretty shocked to hear how far I'd gone along. But good for standing your ground! I just hope they don't send social workers to your home...
Letia, glad to hear you are ok too. Take it easy girl!!
Being dilated is no fun. Not being able to fully care for my DS sucks. I really just want to have normal life again but it's gonna be a while. Be careful ladies! The reason UTI's are so risky during pg is bc the relaxin that you have in your body to relax joints, etc for pg and birth, relax everything....making the normal spasms you'd feel in your urethra and bladder (and probably ureters too!) minimal...so you don't feel pain til it's really really bad or you're in labor. I feel like our group has become an HBO special on UTI's and pregnancy LOL. "If these Walls Could Talk" LOL.

OMG, Katie, I can't believe what you went through! I am SO impressed with your ability to stand your ground. I would have caved in much more easily. I totally :bow at your strength!!! I bet you are even MORE glad that you are having a homebirth. And I hope you gave that young student an education! I bet you could quote more studies than she did!!
Yeah, now I can't get UTI's off my mind, lol. But my frequent peeing thing is at least being very productive. I got up twice to pee last night (usually just once) but I am also feeling really big, and feeling baby on my bladder. But urine has not been dark, and there's been plenty of it. So hopefully I won't succumb!!

I feel like our group has become an HBO special on UTI's and pregnancy LOL. "If these Walls Could Talk".
:LOL
I've definately become pretty paranoid about UTIs now. To be honest, I've only ever had one UTI, when I was 17, so I am now constantly wondering what makes someone more prone to them than others. Is there anything I should be careful to avoid? Should I be drinking more Cranberry juice? Should I be changing my underwear a couple of times a day? Why are we more likely to get them when we're pregnant? How will I know if I've even got a UTI? Pretty much every time I pee now I'm wondering if I'm peeing too much/not enough... I guess I've found my latest pregnancy obsession :nut.
:Bow Katie! Way to go sticking to your guns. I don't know if I could've stood up to that kind of pressure. But I guess it just confirms that you've made the right choice having a homebirth. Sounds like your local hospital is full of some pretty closed minded docs. I'm with Amy, hope that they don't send a social worker to your house. That would be a real pain.
Letia - Glad to hear that your scare turned out to be nothing. I'm with you better safe than sorry. You rest up and take care of yourself. Reading about your activities often leaves me pooped. Where do you get your energy?
It is getting so hot here, I just can't seem to cool down. But I think part of the problem is that I'm carrying around a little heater 24/7. I had friends warn me about being pregnant during the summer... We spent the earlier part of the day over at friends' house. She put out the kiddie pool and the sprinkler and Alias and her daughter (she's 5 days older than Alias) had such a great time playing in the water. And the best part was that I could just sit in a chair in the shade with a cold drink and watch the kids play. Definatly a great way to spend the day. Especially since my lower back is starting to really ache again :eyesroll.

Katie-you go girl! Just wanted to say "great job!" on taking care of yourself and saying "NO" to unnecssary intervention-makes me want to have a homebirth even more~!
Speaking HB-I talked to my dr and she reluctantly agreed that it would be safe for me to have one in WA since I have no risk factors and my births have been very basic-this was all sought to convince my DH who is scared of a homebirth in a major way! I just love the thought of birthing and being able to relax at home without having to watch out for the nurses to do all the things I already told them not to such as eye drops, vit K shot, etc
I still haven't contacted anyone. I thought I'd just wait till we got there and then make appts right away to interview MWs-you just can't always tell from the phone...
Be healthy everyone

Thanks mamas - :grouphug
It was kind of cathartic for me, because it all happened at the hospital where I had Lucy. They did such a horrid job on my L and D. THough that wasn't the reason we refused anything, it did feel nice to reclaim some autonomy that had been taken 2 years ago.
I am running a fever again. It's nowhere near as high as it was, though....my mw says it is normal to have temp flucs while your body is fighting infection. They were just going to give me Tylenol tabs at the hospital for my fever anyway....so I can do that here. Not looking forward to another night of fever/chills, normal temp/sweating it out. But hey. I feel sooooooooooo much better, and the pain is pretty light now. At least I can sweat in my own bed.
Yeah, that hostile doctor was like, "Don't come cryin' to me when your baby dies." and "We don't even know if that baby has a heartbeat." :eyesroll To which I responded, "It is kicking right now, would you like to feel?" He said no, of course. He REALLY wanted to be right.
I am prepared for a social worker to contact me. I talked about that with my MW. She said not to let them in, to be very polite and thank them for their concern, and send them on their way. She said she knows of too many stories where SWs come into houses and look for things to report...ie, your toddler is nude, there are scissors on your table, normal things. Anyway, I am prepared for the possiblity.
Mirthfulmum - You had almost the same coversation as I did with my mom! Arrrrrrgh, why can't they just be supportive?!!? (BTW, I had not seen her since the fight we had, and she showed up at the hospital. She was very negative, so I sent her a'packin'.) Hope you get to a good resoloution for you and your family!!! You are NOT selfish for putting your fam first. I think it is very hard for mamas of adult children to realize that your parents are not the family you put first anymore.

Well, I just wanted to send out some healing vibes to all those with UTI's! Hope you all feel better soon without any more scares when it comes to your babies. Katie :hug what a nightmare you had to deal with...what a bunch of arrogant jerks :irked: Glad that you stuck to your guns and made it home without any unwanted procedures!
I think it's kinda like when someone starts talking about lice...you automatically start to scratch your head and feel itchy! Last night I was feeling like I might have been having symptoms too (UTI), but it was all fine this morning...I didn't even mention it to my midwife at my appt., though maybe I should have. Funny that Piglet and Mirthfulmum seem to have done the same thing. I have never had one, some I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Letia, I am glad that your hospital visit went OK and that all is well.
Piglet- congrats on the new suit! Man I wish they'd deliver to Canada! I've seen some great deals on thier site...probably a good thing though I'd be spending money I shouldn't be too ;)
Mirthfulmum- Sorry your mom is being unreasonalbe :tsk maybe she'll come around yet for ya. :hug
Courtney- Thanks for the feedback. I like OakEmbers...hadn't thought of that one! I will probably procrastinate for awhile yet, I did come up with a couple other ideas too but I haven't checked it out to see if they are used or not.
Had my appt. today. All went well, I declined the GB testing and my midwife was fine with that...I thought I'd have to at least explain my reasoning but I didn't, she was just like "OK, I'm not worried about that." I am really bad at explaining myself, I know what I've read and am clear on how I think...but then when I try to explain it to someone (verbally) I get nervous and feel self conscious and start to say "um" alot...I am so not a public speaker :LOL so I'm glad that I won't feel so much pressure when it comes to talking about not having the vit K, and eye drops, etc. She is concerned with my varicose viens however...I am supposed to do pelvic tilts daily and make sure that I don't sleep on my back (which I end up waking up doing, though I do start on my side) because that especially can make them worse. I might have to wear support hose but at this point I don't, thank God because that'd make the heat even harder to handle! I don't see her again until Aug. 4 and by then I will be in my third trimester, how cool! Congrats Mirthfulmum :banana for making it there already!

Amie - Just so you know, although this may be info you wish you hadn't had, Old Navy does deliver in Canada. But it's a bit more complicated. When you see something online just call the Old Navy at Metrotown (Burnaby) and they'll FedEx it to you if they have it in stock.

Or should I have mom on the end of it? Last time, I swear! Fire&Earth Mom or just Fire&Earth ?
Oh one more thing...since you mentioned waxing Piglet. Remember awhile back when I talked of getting my armpits waxed and it hurt all night and was still tender the next day (which had never happened before)?? Well since then I swear, less than half of my hair has grown back...after shaving twice now! I guess that was worth it :LOL

I vote for OakEmber's. I like the visual I get!
Last night I too was worrying about a UTI. No real reason, I guess it's the Lice thing.
Embersmom, I am the same way exactly! I can feel so educated about something, and when I open my mouth, sound like a stammering fool. I always end up saying "well, it's hard to explain, but here's my sources, if your interested read such and such" Not a great conversationalist or debate candidate.
Have you guys seen these sweat skirts people have been wearing?! They look so comfy, right up my ally. Too bad we are broke jokers! Anyone have big plans for the 4th? We're hitting a parade and fireworks downtown. Hope MIles is ok with the noise. While we were at Stone Mt. they were doing a civil war enactment, and the cannons really freaked Miles out. I took off running with him, as fast and far from the noise as possible.

Letia: forgot to mention in my previous post that I was so relieved your trip to the ER resulted in no alarms. I'm sorry you had to go through that! :hug I also agree with mirthfulmum - I get pooped just reading about all you do! :D
Katie, I cannot *believe* that after all you were going through in the hospital, that your mother showed up and you had to deal with HER too!!! OMG, I know who I'm calling when I'm in a crisis! More :bow :bow to you!!!
Embersmom: I do like "OakEmbers" but I also like Fire&Earth (not so much "Fire&EarthMama"). I think I just like the first one best b/c I know it's your children's names and they go so well together...like someone else said, a pleasing image of campfires, etc...
As I mentioned before, when I was in my twenties I suffered from repeated and chronic UTI's for a period of about 2 years. So I'm an expert on the symptoms. However, I did visit my OB last week and gave them the usual urine sample. I assume they do a culture on them, but I'll be sure to ask.
momadance: haven't seen the sweatskirts you talk of, but my butt isn't shaped for stuff like that, even when I'm not PG, lol. I'm a bit "lumpy and bumpy" aroudn the hips for form-hugging skirts. :D Still, I'm sure they are very comfy!

Today was our 9th wedding anniversary. I can't believe that Dh and I have been married for 9 years already, we were married young (20). We met when we were 14, started dating about a year later and have been together ever since. So many people told us that we were making the biggest mistake of our lives getting married so young, but I guess we showed them. 9 years and almost 2 kids later and it's just getting better and better. Can I just say, I LOVE that man of mine :love! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
We went out for a wonderfully fancy dinner tonight at a very romantic Italian restaurant. I was kind of disapointed going in that I wouldn't be having any wine with our meal but we ended up ordering a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and it turned out to be quite nice. It some how just made the meal complete.
Nancy - That really sucks about the yeast infection. It sounds very uncomfortable. Hope it heals up very fast.
Katie - Still sending you those healing vibes so you can get out of bed soon!
Now let's hope that for the rest of our pregnancies we don't get anymore nasty surprises.
And of course Happy Canada Day to all of us Candians on the board! Hope you all have a great long weekend!

Nancy - I have to giggle how often I get asked that by Americans, so you're not alone. I always thought it was obvious by the day's name but I guess not. Yup, today is the day we celebrate the founding of Canada.
And now we're off to spend the day at the beach! We're not as lucky as Amie. That is so cool that the parade goes right past your house.

07-01-2004, 11:12 AM
Yes, Nancy you made me :LOL In all honesty though I don't think we make as big of a deal about it as your 4th of July...maybe it's just me, or what the media has led me to believe. My cousin was in the States once for 4th of July and said that everything pretty much shut down for the week and was in party mode...could be that he was in his early 20's at the time and right in party mode himself :LOL
Mirthfulmum- Just so you know it's not much of a parade here :LOL pretty small...but Ember loves it nonetheless and it's cool that I get to invite people over to have coffee and watch from our yard...we can also see the fireworks from home or walk just down the block to them. Mirthfulmum- Congratulations from me too on your anniversary! :balloons I love hearing happily ever after stories.
And Happy Canada Day too! To me, the 4th hasn't really ever been a huge deal. Just a day to cook-out or have a picnic and watch fireworks. The kids on my street have started early (Monday) with the fireworks :eyesroll .
We saw Spiderman 2 last night, and it's awesome by the way! I'm not really a big superhero fan, but this was a really well done movie.
As far as pregnancy goes, I've been getting a lot more Braxton Hicks, especially when I haven't sat down in a while, or have been outside for too long. I'm really starting to have to make myself rest, cause I just can't do the stuff I used to (like marathon cleaning). This baby has been moving so much and I love it. It's the best feeling in the world. I remember after Logan was born, how sad I was that I couldn't feel him in my belly anymore, so I'm really enjoying this time. And can I just say I'm glad I'm not the only one gaining weight so quickly. :hide:

Happy Canada Day!
I think I get Braxton-Hicks sometimes. I get aware of a very tight feeling across my whole belly. Sometimes it feels like menstrual cramps. There is no pattern that I'm aware of, and I couldn't even tell you how long they last, lol.
Sasha has been very mobile lately and I am starting to get really strong feelings for him. Yesterday I just felt so much love for him, and how I cannot WAIT to meet my little man!! Life is pretty good, but expecting a baby is just so wonderful! I, too, missed feeling DD in my belly after she was born. I'm trying to really savour this pregnancy, because I'm pretty sure it will be my last.
mirthful: congrats on your anniversary! It's so nice to hear inspirational stories. My DH and I both found each other "late" in life. I was 33 when we married, he 35. Now I'm 36 and expecting #2. Our 3 year wedding anniversary is 2 days after my EDD. :D

Wow, I haven't been on in a few days, and you gals are active. I am at my parents house right now, we are visiting on vacation. It is sooo nice to be here and have a break from all the cooking and cleaning. Plus, DD has all these doting grandparents and aunts and uncles around so that is so nice. She is loving all the attention and I am really able to rest.
Mirthfulmom, CONGRATS on the anniversary :balloons: That is awesome.
Katie, I am sorry you had that experience at the hospital and with the UTI. I hope you are fully recovered by now. Good for you for sticking up for yourself. I am such a wimp that way, that is why I just try to avoid hospitals and doctors.
Letia, Glad everything is okay with you.
I hope everyone who had UTI and yeast infections are recovered and we all stay healthy the rest of pregnancy. All this talk is making me paranoid. What are the symptoms of UTI? On and off this pregnancy I have on occasion felt as though I needed to "force" the pee out, really push to get it out. Could that be a symptom? I am not too worried, because I haven't felt that in awhile. I did once or twice earlier on. When I did start to feel it, I would just drink tons of water and take cranberry supplaments, and it went away within a day. But, I will be more careful and watchful.
Happy Canada day to those Canadians. I didn't know what that was either.
I have been feeling Greta move sooo much lately! It is a great feeling. Everytime I sit down or lie down I feel her. She seems to move a lot more than DD did. I was always paranoid because I didn't feel dd move much. I wonder if that is because you can feel more with your second, or just because Greta is more active (I have a sneaking suspicion she will be my "high needs babe". DD WAS really easy as an infant (not anymore, now she is a more "spirited" toddler).

UTI symptoms are:
-Frequent, urgent need to urinate...think "Oh my god, I am going to pee in my pants!"
-When you do urinate, only a tiny amount comes out..like a trickle or less.
-And it hurts/stings like a mother$#%*! Like you're peeing out acid or something.
But some people only have one of those symptoms. And some have none.
My kidney infection is pretty much gone, but it is moving through my bladder on its way out. So now I have all of the aforementioned symptoms. But my severe back and flank pain is gone, and my temp finally stabilized at around 99 degrees. I am feeling pretty good except for this UTI that seems to be the bacteria's last stand. :irked:

Well we're now in Seattle. I love it here. Everyone is so friendly and laid back. Soooooo much different from New Jersey.
We ended up buying a house in Mill Creek. It's a bit of a commute for Dh but we love love love it! Unfortunately it's in the final stages of being built and we won't be able to move in until September(I'll be 35 weeks which will make things very hectic but we will hopefully have a lot of help).
Dh and I started dating when I was 17, we got married at 23, and had Kieran when 25. So we were young as well but had dated so long prior to getting married that it was just expected.

Just wanted to send a belated Happy anniversary to mirthfulmom. I was the young one in our marriage, 21 and dh was 27. Now 4 1/2 years later we are having #4, who is due a week after dhs' b-day and a month before our 5 year anniversary. We met in Jan of '99, got together in May of that year and married in Nov. When you know--you know!
Been a busy week here. I am teaching a friend bass guitar--yes I am a musician, but not pro. Then I have been clearing out some inventory in my cd store--I am ready for a break!!
Sorry to hear of all you who are coming down with uti's and yeast infections. I have never really had a uti but I used to get yeast infections quite regularly until I stopped using plastic pads and liners. Praying that you all recover quickly!

Here in Vancouver I am considered a young mom at 29. Most of my friends who have kids the same age as my son are a few years older than me, usually around 35. So I just expect to be the youngest mom in every group. When Piglet posted about how she's an older mom at 34 was it? I thought she's not older, she's right on track with all the women I know. But I am surprised at how many women here are younger than me, not by much though. I am starting to think I am one of the older gals here. Boy that's a first.

Jeez-am I the oldest around here? I'm 35 and will be 36 when this babe is born-my Dh is 38. We're ancient :LOL
We got married at 23yrs and 25 yrs but waited to have kids to establish careers, save some $ and build a house. We started when i was 28 yrs but it took over a yr to conceive the first time (I was 30yrs when DS was born)and a m/c and about 6 mos for the second and exactly a year for the 3rd-if I would have known it would take so long I definitely would have started earlier! But everything happens for a reason I guess and at least I can stay home with the kids and we're "comfortable" $wise so I'm not too bummed about being so "old" as a mom. :)

But in my LLL groups, etc I do seem to be about the same or a little bit older than most. I guess we women are just having babies later in life, on average! So....am I the oldest one here? :D
guinnessinu: isn't Seattle lovely? Congrats on the house. It sucks to have to wait, but at least it will all be brand new when you move in! That's wonderful! I'll be moving around the same time as you, so we can commisserate on what it's like to unpack boxes when you are 35 weeks pregnant!
OakEmber: love the new name! I'll change our list!
So, I'm guessing that everyone who was going to find out the gender has done so now, is that right? Of course, there are several names on our list that don't seem to be regular participants in our threads, but still....lots of empty spaces after EDD's! :LOL
Last night I had this ridiculous panic attack when I couldn't feel Sasha moving. I stayed up to read a book, and wouldn't go to bed until I felt him kick. I kept pressing all over my uterus (poor guy!) and I definitely felt more "hard stuff" on the right side, so I think he's sitting on the right. Anyways, he obliged me with a few kicks after making me worry, lol. And then last night he was going crazy in there, lol.
I never worried this much with DD...wonder what it is? Probably just me thinking that I've used up all my good luck already. :rolleyes I'm such a "Murphy's Law" type.
OH....almost forget to tell you guys! So yesterday was really hot here, and I got home from work early. As I was walking home (I just live a couple blocks away from work) I was thinking "too bad my swimsuit isn't here yet, it would be a great day to go to the new pool". Well, it was there when I got home!! I practically grabbed DD and ran out the door, lol. The suit is kind of ugly in colour, but it was the only pattern left in the style, and I love the style. So I was able to get in the pool in the shallow end, while DD played on the edge with me, splashing her feet in the water, etc (she wouldnt' come in with me though, but we haven't been in a pool since she was a baby). Anyways, I'm SO glad I got that swimsuit!! We had a lovely time!

Wow, that was fast! You guys noticed before me :LOL I just wanted to say again, because I think it was buried in post about dropping the s, it makes me think of something belonging to Ember when I say Embers (even without the ') ;)
Now I feel the need to reasure you oldies (I feel like I know you well enough to joke like that without being flamed for it ;) that you aren't so old :love
My MIL was 48 when she had DH, and turned 49 3 months later! Actually his nearest sibling is 8 years older than him so she was actually in her 40's for two babies! Makes for an interesting family, as he is the youngest of 5 and I am the oldest of 3....so I have a BIL who is 52 (older than my parents who are 48/49) and DH has a BIL who is 13!
Guinessinu- Congrats on the new home! Sounds like a very lovely area...I am glad that you are liking it!

I guess that probably makes me the youngest mama here. I'm 23. :) It's cool there is such a wide age range here at MDC.....we all have a lot of different experiences to contribute to the community. :)

hi mama's!
it sounds like everyone has been very busy! i'm chiming in late this week and i need to be quick even so... work has been very busy and having preggo brain just makes some things take longer!
i'm sending healing thoughts to those fighting with uti's and yeast infections. not fun under normal circumstances, and so much worse (and sometimes scary) during pregnancy!
let's see... i just turned 28 years old (dh is going to be 40 next week). sproglet is so active!!! i love to feel him/her moving around so much!!! i'm a bit tired this week - looking forward to the 3 day weekend. last weekend my mom visited so even though i was off work thursday and friday it was kind of exhausting. her visit overlapped with our 22 week midwife appointment so she came along and really enjoyed it.
QOTW: so far i guess i've been lucky. i'm quite comfortable and have no swelling, hopefully that will continue. i'm not sure if it's just cause i'm a few weeks behind most of you since i'm due at the end of october though.
best wishes to everyone!!!

Gosh, I am such an addict..Ember is watching TV with her Daddy so I am back to say what ran out of time for earlier :LOL
Mirthfulmum...I was definately considered a young mom in Calgary and still would be too, different in the city I guess...around here I am pretty much in the norm (actually, teen pregnancy rates are REALLY high here) so I might even be considered old :LOL
Anyone else look really young too? My sister is 6 years younger than me (so she's 20) and we really look like we could meet in the middle and both be about 22/23ish...although I have been told I look even younger too :irked: I am not tall, have small boobs and a young sounding voice, even on the phone I sound young so it's a bit of a grievence for me. Ok...enough of that vent!
Piglet...Thanks for changing my name in the list, didn't think you'd mind! Sounds like getting the bathing suit was a great idea! Hope you get lots of use out of it!! :D
Ann...nothing wrong with doing it your way! I am sure that you feel a lot less stress about $ issues than some of us young'ns do which must be really nice :thumb
Stanleymama..Wow, 4 in 5 years. You must be one busy momma, how do you find time to post?!! :)
Piglet, I know you love adding info to our list... Stanleymama got me thinking that it might be neat to list if this is our first, second, third, fourth etc....then again I don't know, maybe it's nice just highlighting the babies...just something for ya to think about if you haven't already.

I have always looked younger. At 29 people usually assume that I am around 23/24. Although I did get IDed at a bar on my 28th birthday and the legal drinking age here is 19, so it's not unusual for people to think I'm even younger than that. When we were in our teens my husband used to get the dirtiest looks from people when we'de go out. He used to look a lot older (now I think he looks his age) so when we were 17/18 he looked like he was about 21/22 and I looked like I was 14. People thought he was some kind of pervert taking advantage of some poor innocent girl.

All this talk makes me want to see pictures of evrybody! I think it'd be cool to have a face to attach to each name!
Well, I was having some major flank pain yesterday on my left side. I was sorta worried, but I did a great pre-natal Yoga video, and I think the pain was maybe muscular.
The tape was great! I had been thinking of taking a prenatal yoga class on Monday nights. It's $115, for I think 11 weeks. We'll have to see, with getting into our house and everything, i'm not sure nows the time, but on the other hand, I really want to do what I can to savor this pregnancy, and I really enjoyed taking one while preg. with MIles.
Gabriel was doing some major somersaults last night! I felt like that scene in alien, when the alien tears out of Segorny (sp?) Weaver's tummy!
Well, off to a rainy parade!
Happy 4th!

It would be cool to see what everyone, and their kids, looked like. I just don't want to post a link on the boards 'cause then anybody could see them. And I don't like the idea of strangers looking at my family pictures. Don't know why, it just seems creepy. Does anyone have a suggestion how we could exchange photos more privately?

Totally :OT
I had to renew my expired drivers' licence yesterday. The DMV lady asked if everything was still current. "Do you still live on blah blah street?" etc. Then she hesitated for a minute and said, "So.... do you still weigh 120 pounds?" :LOL
I said, "Well, I'm pregnant.... but someday......" and she said, "Yeah. That's what I told myself.... Four kids later.......*sigh*....."
So the end result: I have a legal, state-issued document that states I only weigh 120 pounds! :wink At least I've got four years before I'll have to prove it again!

I was just thinking about this yesterday. The easiest way I think, would be for one of us to set up a private yahoo group where we could post pictures. That way, only approved people could join and look. Maybe I'll do that now, I'm kinda bored...
Ooh, I went for a 30 minute walk today, whoo hoo. I'm going to try to make it a regular thing, even though it kills my sciatic. I'm just gaining weight far too quickly (due to sweet cravings) so I need to balance it out somehow.
momadance- I hope you get to take that yoga class, it sounds great. I've been doing my own made up yoga in my living room, but it's just not the same. :)

OakEmber--love the the new id name :thumb ANd yes I am pretty busy, but the boys play so well together that I do find time to post. We get a variety of comments about how close are children are, or how "ambitious" we are.
I would love it if we could find a place to post pics! It would be "kinda" like meeting everyone. Let's try to figure something out.

I set up an unlisted yahoo group for us. Not just anyone can join, I have to approve you. So, how bout this: If your name is on Piglet's roll call, then you can join. Just PM me w/ your email address and I'll send you an invite to the group- so you can view and post pictures. We wont post the link to the site publicly. I posted a couple pics already :)
Sound good? And BTW, I wont be offended if you don't want to join, it's no big deal :)

Happy 4th Americans! Hope you are all having a great holiday! :)
Courtney- That's awesome...I will be PMing you. I have had troubles in the past though with the Yahoo groups...hopefully I won't this time. Can't wait to see everyone!
Stanelymama- Thanks, I am glad you like my name! I am sure that you do get many comments, I just couldn't resist; it blows my mind because Ember is almost 4, to think that I could have 2 others by now :LOL
Mirthfulmum- you made me laugh, glad I am not alone in the young looking department ;)

Hope all you Americans had a good 4th. We just had a regular day here. We don't do the whole 4th Celebration thing. Dh and I are not really patriotic. We just hung out, went grocery shopping, played with Lu...low key stuff. We were thinking of going to some fireworks tonight, but they don't start till 10, and that's really late for Lucy.
I am done with bedrestin' thank god!!! I was getting sooooo nuts. Yesterday, I went to a family party and swam for almost and hour. It felt so good to be out in the lake floating around after a week in my bed.
I am currently really freaked out because I haven't felt the baby move all day. I drank some juice and layed down, but I still can't feel anything. Hope the baby is just having quiet day or something. I think the baby flipped transverse when I spent all that time in bed....so maybe it is hard to feel its kicks now that it isn't head-down.

It's true what they told us Canadians. The Firecrackers have been going off in the neighbourhood night and day since Thursday. At first I was like "Hmmm, I'm pretty sure there aren't THAT many Canadians in this neighbourhood, so why are there crackers going off on July 1?" :scratch
Fortunately, DD is proving to be a sound sleeper like her mama, and they aren't waking her.
Courtney, what a wonderful thing to do! I will PM you with my yahoo email address, then I'll post the link to our online family photo album there. Thanks so much!
I don't know about these days, maybe I just talk and act young, lol...but for the longest time I was ID'd for buying liquor and even cigarettes (back when I smoked, the legal age was 16) years after I passed that age.
Well, it was mighty hot here today. DD and I had fun driving through a flash flood - the storms here are so impressive. Total buckets of water that even this NWCoast girl found unbelievable. But then it's all over in about 20 minutes and the sun comes out and it's scorching again. Wild! But wow....this heat is really taking it out of me. My feet and ankles feel constantly sore and swollen (though I know from experience that the swelling is still not as bad as it will get: I can still see ankle bones, lol). Makes me wonder how I'm going to handle the next couple of months. Still...we went to the local pool again, so thanks to my maternity swimsuit (are y'all sick of hearing about this yet? LOL) I'll be cooling off in the water! :D
gottaknit: I totally cracked up at your driver's license story. Great coup!! :thumb

Miles loved the parade yesterday! Sucked being an election year, everyones gotta get all beligerent and on a soap box, but the firetrucks, clowns, horses and southern belles where nice to see!
We had a pretty melow day today which was GREAT! We lounged around and then headed down to the river, did some hiking, came home and then hit the pool. It was VERY nice! We laid low and then headed up to a spot called the overlook (a mountain) to watch all the different fireworks across Atlanta. It was sweet, and secluded and Miles was in awe! It was great not to have to get into any crowds, or even get freaked by the nosiness!
OT but we hit home depot befor heading up the Mountain, and hooked up with 4 gallons of BEHR paint for a total of 20 bucks! I' m thrilled! We checked out the oops center, and found the exact colors we wanted. Not to sure what that says about our taste!?
Feeling oh so pregnate! And the humidity down here is starting to bug. I feel like I should be showering twiice a day!
Umm, I know we sort off addressed this, but is anyone else the ABSOLUTE opposite of horny? I can't get turned on! Ever, by anything, and I'm feeling so bad about it! My man is totally fine, and says we have the rest of our lives, and in some sick way thinks it's cute :eyesroll It's just so strange! I don't even have the desire to ahem touch myself. :innocent I was a real horndog, now not so much.

Momadance -
I can't get into it, either. Even alone. I don't think I've been less interested in sex since I was 12. :Sheepish: Dh doesn't mind...well, maybe he does deep down, but he would never let on. We'll probably do some nakey-dancing in the last few weeks to get things primed and ready (maybe starting around 38 weeks) but other than that.....I just don't see it happening.

Hey everybody! I'm up in the middle of the night...We didn't do a whole lot today, but we did get a dresser for the baby. So I got to pull out all of Logan's old baby clothes and blankets, etc and take a trip down memory lane. I didn't realize how much stuff we saved. We really are set. Oh and I got some maternity shorts at Sears for 9.99, whoo hoo. My capris from Old Navy are already getting snug :eyesroll
Dh didn't want to go out tonight cause he's got a sudden fear of crowds and terrorist attacks, which was fine with me cause I didn't feel like waddling around anywhere. I wish we had a mountain here to go see fireworks from. We just bought some sparklers, etc and had our own celebration. Our neighborhood put on quite a show, quite a loud show. Glad they finally stopped.
On the sex issue, I hear ya. I think for me, I just feel ridiculous and not sexy at all w/ this big ole belly. We still do it though, but I'm not really as into it as I was in the beginning of the pregnancy.
As far as the yahoo group goes, your welcome to all who said thank you :) It was no trouble at all. Once you join, there's a link on the left that says "photos," where you can view and post your own pics. So, post some pics, or else everyone's just gonna be lookin at me :shy . Or you can email the group w/ a link to an online album. Can't wait to see everyone :love

I just realized my photo albums are woefully in need of updating. DH promised to download our camera and post some pics to our website, so as soon as he does that I'll get some photos for our group.
yeah..i'm still in "libido-overdrive" mode. Thing is, most of the time I'm too tired to do anything about it. figures!
