I'm about 30 weeks pg. My bh ctx have really picked up over the last little while (few days to a week, I think). Today, I had a mother's helper over for a few hours and it was a nice cool day, so I was doing a lot of housecleaning (well, more than usual anyway). By lunch time, I was having them very frequently -- any time I started walking or did anything very physical (bending over to pick something up, carrying anything very heavy, helping the kids into the car seat). I sat down and had a break of about 3 hours, during which time I had a few ctx, but they were *much* less frequent. Then I got up to make dinner, and anytime I did anything -- get up from sitting, start walking from standing, anything -- I would have a bh. Unless I'm sitting, they're just one on top of the other. Now, they do seem to me just bh -- I don't feel any crampiness, just tightening, and most of the feeling is up in my belly, centred around my navel, not in my back or pelvis. But they are much stronger than what I'm used to. They are not really painful, but the sensation of being squeezed like that is very uncomfortable, which I don't remember with past bh. Should I be concerned? I'm tired, but not unusually so; I had a full night's sleep last night; and I've been drinking plently of water. Everything I've read says to call your practitioner if you have more than 4 bh an hour for more than one hour, but all I have here is "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (lame, I know!).

Normal with the extra work. Drink 1 Q of water and they should go right away

I would also throw in there that you do tend to notice the sensation more with subsequent pregnancies. :)

sounds exactly like what i'm going through... every time i start working harder... getting up from sitting, standing up after i pick up a toy or the kids, cleaning for a while, even bumpy car rides sometimes! :)
i get the same ones... they don't really hurt, but my belly gets all hard. last week i had an appointment with my midwife and i was a little more than a cm dilated. i have another tomorrow, so hopefully i'll be even further along! i can't wait to get this baby OUT! i have been so nauseous for the past week and a half and SO TIRED. i get so achy and sore in my legs and my belly at night that i can't sleep all that well. i can't help but think it's going to be any day now. :thumb
and i never noticed any braxton hicks with my last two!

Thanks for the advice. I was worried last night because they were really literally one on top of the other -- I was contracted for the whole hour I was doing clean up/bedtime prep for the kids. But today, they've eased off considerably. I'm taking it easier and drinking more.
Thanks again!

I agree... this is my third and i get them much much more often then i ever did with the last two or atleast i'm noticing them much more. My dr wants me to call if i have more then 5 with an hour... i have had that many before but once i lay down and drink some water they go away. I say if they go away with water or rest it's ok! To be on the safe side just say something to your dr/midwife at your next appointment.
