I'm on a roller coaster here. Baby, no baby, baby, no baby. Ugh.

I'm not sure where to even post this thread... I'm pregnant, but am I?

I'm officially 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I miscarried at 9 weeks a few months back. I started bleeding last week on Wed. I went to my midwife's and gave blood for an hcg and progesterone check (both were good). She also checked my cervix and said it was closed. I was fine and then bled again on Friday a little bit. I took it easy all weekend (kinda) and had blood taken again on Monday. Numbers were good and the comparison was good. And then I started bleeding again today with a clot. It's slowing down now, but what's with this! I never experienced this with my daughter's pregnancy.

Has anyone here experienced bleeding in pregnancies soon after a previous miscarriage? I know it's not normal, but can anything good come from it?

jogirl,

I wanted to let you know that you are not alone, and also to let you know that I had the same problems and had a healthy baby girl out of it. I lost my first, and with my second pregnancy, I passed a lot of blood and some clots and was just so upset each time. It wasn't until about 14 weeks that we discovered that there were blood clots in my uterus and they were each being "ruptured" as the placenta grew.

I hth at least a bit, as I remember those days so vividly and understand your frustrations. I hope that you are feeling better soon, and that things turn out to be good with you and your new bean.

I had 2 m/c close together and then a keeper pg. I spotted through the first 18 weeks with Bryce. I even passed clots and cramped. He made it to 40 weeks and now is a little butterball!!

It is very hard not to worry. It is very hard to not be scarred. As time passes you will feel a little better and a little more relaxed.

Take it easy and grow that baby!!

Update:
More bleeding, but some answers.. and therefore more questions ;)

I started gushing more blood 2 nights ago at my grandparents (thank goodness they had pads hidden in the bathroom!!). So, I called my midwife yesterday and went in for an ultrasound. I have two (imo) equal size masses in my uterus. One is a baby with a heartbeat and another is what my midwife is calling "debris". It's called a subchorionic bleed. Essentially, I've got a bleed in the outer sac that is expelling a lot of blood. Meaning I've got a lot of blood inside of me that is still yet to come out and a hole in the sac that will hopefully close. She said it's hit or miss whether I'll miscarry. If I can make it to 12 weeks and the hole closes then she said I can lift myself off the pins and needles. The baby is also measuring a little small, but looks fine for 7 weeks. She said try not to lift things and just take it easy.

So.. anyone had a bleed that closed up and proceeded into a healthy pregnancy?

Any tips of how to help the hole in my sac heal? Diet ideas?

Off to google some more...

I've never had that, but I had a placenta previa. The placenta grew over the opening of the cervix and would tear and bleed. My doctor perscribed progesterone supositories to help strengthen the uterus. I don't know if this would be helpful in your case, but do ask your midwife - I've heard that some midwifes will use wild yam root in a similar fashion.

Again, I don't know if this would be helpful for you, but it gives you something to discuss. In the mean time, I would think you should take it easy and try to rest as much as posible. You're losing blood, so make sure you keep your diet high in iron. Leafy greens and beats are great - red meats if you eat them. Also, please, please, please keep hydrated! It's VERY important that you drink water right now.

I'll hold you in my thoughs.

So sorry for all the stress and worry you are going through.

I had a subchorionic bleed at 11 wks with this pg (I have had two previous mc, so I also know that horrible panic feeling). I had one very small bleed and one large bleed and one small episode of spotting after that. I found many others in my quest for more info and found that nearly all of the pg turned out ok, and surprising enough it is not an uncommon condition.

I am now 20 wks along and had my "big" ultrasound last week and I am having a boy and my bleed and the resulting clot are gone. The restrictions for me were my ob/gyn kept me on pelvic rest (put there as soon as + pg test due to two mc in a row), no vacuuming or lawn work, no work or exercise (even just walking) that would make me breathe hard and no lifting over 10 lbs and rest in bed or with my legs elevated as much as possible. I have since had my restrictions lifted, but must do so gradually.

I hope that at least some of this helps and :hug to you and your baby.
