I'm just wondering what other September mamas have gained so far. Right now I guess we're at the point where we should be gaining about 1lb a week. We'll I've been consistantly gaining more than that. So far I've gained 38lbs and I still have 6 and a half weeks before the baby is due. I've not been concerned about it at all, but yesterday my midwife made mention of it so it got me thinking...
So what have you gained so far?
BTW: I started at 105 lbs.
With DD's pregnancy I started at 110lbs and gained 42 total.

I started at 110 and have gained 30 pounds so far. That is not a lot for me...I gained 70 pounds with Lilly!!!

Thin ladies!
I started at, I'm guessing, around 128. I didn't own a scale. Now I'm at about 150 (haven't checked in the last few days). 5.5 weeks until EDD.

Thin and small boned ladies, indeed! I started at 162... and have gained 28 pounds. So I'm up to 190. This week doc said I gained 2 pounds, but they measure you in your clothes, you know? I'm going by my morning naked weight, lol.

Yeah, but I'm a shrimpy 5'2" with that 128 to start! curvacious, you know. :D
With ds I gained 20lbs total, then lost two in the last two weeks or so. With dd I gained 35, which was a lot on my frame! But I weighed 117 or something when I got pregnant with her. I was still nursing ds and for me, that melted the fat off. So I needed those 35, according to the mw.

5'2" and 128, that sounds lovely. I am 5'3" and haven't weighed 128 since my senior year of high school.
I started heavy, around 190 (it's a lot easier to gain 50 lbs than lose it...), lost 13 pounds in the first tri and have come back up to 192. So... I've either gained 2 pounds, or 15!

I don't know. :D But I am gaining similarly as with my other pregnancies (that is, all the weight is going to my belly) so I'm estimating about 27 lbs. I started out at 195-200 and 5'6".

I started this pregnancy at 5 10 and 165 and I think I'm up to about 190 (so +25). With Noah I gained 50.

Thanks ladies. So it looks like I'm on the high end in comparison, but I started small so maybe my body needs the extra weight. Yeah, that's what I'm telling myself ;)
I really haven't been splurging on the sweets like I did with DD's pregnancy (well just a little), so I can't see why I'm gaining more this time. And it's funny...from the back you can't even tell I'm pregnant. But then I turn around and 'Whoa, torpedo belly!!!'
At my mw appt the other day, the nurse said "It really looks like you just have a big watermelon under your shirt." :LOL

...from the back you can't even tell I'm pregnant.
I have been told this too, and also been told that I have lost weight on the rest of my body - arms, neck, legs, and most noticeably, butt...
A watermelon, eh? :D

I started 5ft9, 126 pounds, and have put on 21 pounds. I have 8 weeks to go so that should take me up to 29 pounds.
This is exactly the same gain as with my daughter. At least i'm predictable :)
I don't look pregnant from the back either. I turn round and scare people with my bump :D

I started at 114 lbs and now weigh around 132-133, so Ive gained 18 or 19 pounds. If we were supposed to say our height, I am 5 ft. 8 in.
With Riley I gained 36 pounds and weighed 139 at 39 weeks. (I was very underweight I know. Very unhealthy.)
With Paityn I gained 27 lbs and weighed 139 at 38 weeks.
I am hoping to make it to 139 lbs again this time, but am having a harder time gaining this time for some reason. I guess because I am still breastfeeding Paityn...

Well, I started out at about 135-140 (still packing the last 20+ of the 65+ :yikes: :yikes: pounds from DS born in March last year) and I weigh 190 :W :W at my appointment on Tuesday. I'm about 5'5" in height, I gain between 55-65+ pounds with each pregnancy. I was able to get all the weight off from DD (and the last 15 pounds that I'd gain after we got married) when I got pregnant with DS. I just haven't had "time" to get rid of all of DS's weight when I got pregnant again. :irked:
Shocked myself when I looked at my records on my 30wk visit and saw that I was already the weight that I had DD (183) and DS (186) and I still had 10 weeks to go. I currently have 6+ weeks to go. My OB isn't worried though, I'm a steady gainer (eating all the time doesn't help :W :W) and I have "8" pound babies. And I've always gone 40 weeks. :LOL
I always take my shoes off when they weigh me. I'm living in my Birks now (not too heavy) but I was wearing my clogs (with those nice heavy wood bottoms) so I'm in the habit of just taking them off. :W :W Every little bit counts. ;)
ETA: a lot of it seems to have gone to my BUTT!! :irked: :irked: So much for just carrying in the front like the other 2 pregnancies.

mama2annabelle, don't stress too much, or else that means I should be bawling by now.
I'm 5'3", and started pregnancy about 15 pounds above my "happy/comfortable" weight range of 125-130. Since this pregnancy wasn't planned, I don't know *exactly* how much I weighed. So, for an estimate, assume I was a stocky (yet muscular and curly :P) 140ish.
Last visit to my midwife, I weighed in at 180.5! Unlike you lucky gals who've lost in other places while your belly has grown, I've grown EVERYWHERE! Big butt, big thighs...big ribcage since I'm short...ack!
Someone, please tell me this really can go away with breastfeeding, exercise, and a healthy diet?

Well, I'm still down 4 pounds from where I started. I was down 9 pounds at one point, but then I have finally been gaining a bit here and there.
Don't ask me how.
I EAT!
But I am also so much more active this pregnancy than I was before.

I've gained 20.5 pounds total at my last appointment at 31 weeks. I gained 40 with ds, but I started out 20 pounds lighter with him than this one.

Let's see....I'm about 5'8" and weighed about 208 when I got pregnant. Went down to 185 in the first trimester and according to my scale I'm hovering between 215 and 220 depending on the time of day and stuff. I eat when I'm hungry, which varies from day to day, but the doctor I saw this week said I should be eating 8 times a day. I don't want to force myself to eat when i'm not hungry though. Oh well. Nothing has been said to me about my weight, so I assume everything is fine. I should ask about that next week.

Hey guys!
I seem to have slowed down a little bit, but my last appointment revealed a 40 ish pound weight gain! I started out around Christmas at about 150 and I'm up to 190. I think I've put on about another 5 pounds since that check up, but I feel good and look lovely so.... so what! I've never been a little svelt hoochie mama and I probably never will be. I like my body and will find the right balance again after this baby is born.
Although I must admit will be sad if i never get to wear those gorgeous pin striped trousers we had bought me late last fall! They were so hot on me! :wink

I've gained about 30 lbs--started off at 117 and was 147 on Wed at almost 32 weeks. I'm guessing I'll gain 35-40 total, depending on when baby arrives. With ds I gained 30 lbs by 39 weeks, with dd around 35 by 36 weeks. I started out around 8-10 lbs. lighter this time around, due to nursing and chasing around my active kiddos. I tend to gain a good 8-10 my first trimester, as eating constantly helps my queasiness, then I gain pretty evenly throughout. I've noticed that I've gained less in my face and arms this time than with my previous pgs. Usually my face fills out more than it has this time. I think I'm mostly belly this pg, plus some butt and theigh gain. My appetite is pretty low these days, and nausea is back a bit. I think 35-40 lbs. must be just right for my body. One place I haven't gained or grown this time is my boobs! Since my milk supply has dropped off starting around twenty-some weeks, they've actually shrunk! NO FAIR! I'm only an A cup to begin with. I bought a really cute paisley halter maternity dress at around 14 weeks, and now it looks ridiculous on me because my boobs don't fill it, so I have this flat-looking chest and big belly. I think I'll take it back to Old Navy and get some baby stuff instead.

Anna, plug your ears so you don't hear this:
I weighed less after ds then I did before I ever got pregnant, but still wasn't able to fit into some of my old clothes, because my hips were wider, ever after.

This is completely :OT but I have to say: Anna, you make me smile so much, and I am so completely taken by your self-confidence and love of your own body. I wish all women loved themselves as much as you do! I'm sure you have more respect for yourself as a whole person than the little svelte hoochie mamas do!!! Your child is going to grow up with such a positive body image!!

Anna- have to agree ... don't be too disappointed if the pants don't fit again. I lost more weight after Tori was born, got down to within a couple pounds of my 'wedding' weight... but a lot of the pants I had from that time didn't fit at all. My hips were too wide and I had some gorgeous pants that I really wanted to get back into. :bawl The pregnancy and delivery had changed my basic body shape.
3boobykins- can I join the "no boobs" group. I've never been really chesty but when my supply disappeared and DS weaned... I have lost what chest I had. :( I have started to get a little fullness back in the last 2 weeks. Still not like I was when I was pregnant with DD. I was nice and chesty then. :LOL Stayed chesty until my supply dropped with DS's pregnancy 15+ months later. I got to look nice and chesty and thin (without a pregnant belly) for about 6 weeks before I started to show with DS. :LOL Just isn't my lot in life. ;)

Mine changed too, BUT after about 5 years :eyesroll it did eventually change back and I was fitting into stuff from before my daughter was born. So if you can wait that long for your hips to move back then don't chuck your skinny jeans :LOL

I wish I was a little less endowed up top! I'm a C normally, a D now, and will likely be back into DD's when nursing again, at least for a while. Clothes all fit me wrong, because there's supposed to be more room between the boobs and belly! My dd told me months ago "Mom, your bressss are on your belly!" and the belly is on the legs, when I'm sitting. Feh.

I have to join the small-chested club too. I did the booby dance in the dressing room when I went from an A cup to B cup during my first pregnancy at 8 months. I thought that I would get bigger once my milk came in, but it wasn't meant to be. It's not easy finding nursing bras with a B cup either.
DS loves the song. He's dancing to it as it plays. Too funny!

He even put his bucket hat on to truly get into the proper mood. :LOL Yeah, he's my "Boob man". :love :love He has rediscovered mine and wanted to really investigate one of my nipples in the shower the other night... Wouldn't have minded if he hadn't tried to dial in a radio with it. :yikes: Wonder if it's because they are starting to fill out a little bit again... maybe he can smell the milk, though nothing will express. :shrug
"The Hip Fairy came two times and the Thigh Fairy came three.."

Jen--haven't had time to check out the Boob Fairy thing yet--I'll take a look and a listen soon--sounds like it's hilarious.
My problem is that I have these small boobs but large nipples, so I don't feel comfortable going braless, even though I don't really need the support. I have a huge milk supply for the first several months, though, proof that breast size has nothing to do with ability to breastfeed!

I REALLY don't think he would have been amused!
Maybe he was dissed by a fairy somewhere along the line, tee hee!
I think the magic of the song is the lyrics + her sweet little voice.
(:OT: At the risk of offending any former cheerleaders among the group, I have to say that her song Cheerleader (http://www.deirdreflint.com/music.asp) *really* makes me giggle (having grown up the antithesis of a cheerleader, although I had friends who were cheerleaders!). There's an mp3 of it on the page linked above...)

Samantha, your boob tales are the same as mine! C to D then DD while nursing... I think I actually fit into the next size up last time, but instead of buying that huge bra opted to just use stetched out sports bras.
Jen, that Boob Fairy song is hysterical!!!! DH and I laughed at her suggestion at the end to substitute "the boob fairy was obsessed with me..." hahahahaha. I couldn't find an MP3 to listen to for Cheerleader, but the words are a riot! Thanks for the laugh.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my first baby. Today, I weighed in at 190 at the birthing center.. My prepregnancy weight was around 145. I was really worried about my weight gain, but my mid-wife said that there really is no "normal" weight gain and that she's seen women gain only 15 pounds and women who've gained 50 and that their babies were born healthy. That made me feel a bit better. My mother said she gained 52 pounds with me and I was born 8 lbs. 2 oz.
Well, I'm starting to feel a little sheepish...I am on the small side. I don't really know how much I have gained, since I lost so much weight during the first trimester. At almost four months I weighed 92 pounds, I think I am normally around 100. I am now in my 33 wk and I weigh almost 116 at 5'3. So I know i am gaining, although very slowly. I did this with my first as well, gaining not even 20 pounds with her, even though I tried as hard as hell too, since every time I would go to the Dr. they would say oooooooh you gained a whole pound! I was feeling ashamed, even though I was doing all I could. And she was 6'10 so she was fine! I feel good though, have energy, I just carry small.

Well I gained an average 35 lbs. and my daughter was also 6.12. Maternal weight is really not a good indication of how big the baby will be -- the baby will take no more and no less than will bring it to its genetically pre-determined size that is right for its body.
fourlittlebirds
08-05-2004, 10:58 AM
Anna, I so agree. I figure that my body is doing what it needs to right now, and I wouldn't want it to do differently, so there is really no point in stressing about it. I have much better things to spend my precious life on than worrying that my butt is getting "too big"! Of course, it helps a lot that my lover is more interested in how I feel and smell and act than how much bigger my butt is than the average model's. :D
What else was I going to say... oh yeah, Anna, the thing about body shape changing is that it's biologically preferable that your body does this, so it's unavoidable for most people. The cartilege softens all over your body (which is why sometimes you hear pregnant women complaining about their noses getting bigger or their feet spreading) so that your pelvic bones can move apart, and your hips get wider as a result. It's the mark of motherhood, which personally I am proud to exhibit. It's not going to get me much worship in a society that worships youth, but oh well I admit I kind of enjoy thumbing my nose at the status quo. :D

Man, there are some skinny women here! I am 5'5" and I was 130 when I conceived. Last weight was 155. I think I will end up at 30-35 total. I lost 5 lbs. in the first trimester, then I had a month in my second trimester where I gained 10 lbs. in one month! :yikes: This is my first baby, and I can't believe how much fat I have put on in my arms, thighs and face. I measured my belly the other day and it was 41"!! Holy cow!
