what are some good books to read about pregnancy and birth?
Is "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" all about birth stories?
Has anyone read "Birthing from within"? if so what did you think?

TIA :)

My all time favorite book is called "What's Going on in There? : How the Brain and Mind Develop in the First Five Years of Life" by Lise Eliot. It sounds like it would be a dry medical text, but it covers everything from how what you eat during pregnancy effects your child, How medication during childbirth can effect your child, all the way through the age of 5.
I truly can't put it down. In fact, I have covered my copy with the dust jacket from another book so I can read it on my lunch hour without tipping off my cowrokers that I'm pregnant.

Definitely check out the threads mentioned and linked above. I'm sure they will contain the following:

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin
The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth by Sheila Kitzinger
The Pregnancy Book by Dr. William Sears, MD and Martha Sears, RN
Birthing From Within by Pam England
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
A Good Birth, A Safe Birth by Korte and Scaer (I think...???)
Having a Baby, Naturally by Peggy O'Mara

I also loved looking at From Conception to Birth by Alexander Tsiaras when I was in my first trimester.

There's also a list of Mothering Magazine's book recommendations here. (http://www.mothering.com/books/books.shtml)
