It is hot here so we are going to the beach. Anybody ever been to Los Indios, Texas? I have a meeting there and my dh says from there we can go to some beach, maybe South Padre Island. Is it possible? I haven't even looked at a Texas map yet.

Wish me luck. It will be my, my dh, my 4-year-old, and my 2 month old foster baby. All in rental mini-van. What fun!(?)

Oooh, the beach sounds good. Actually, today is a remarkably cool and nice day. I am going to open up some windows while I sit here and type. It may rain at any moment...

End of my fantasy of the beach. My meeting is cancelled. My car's AC just went out and $600 later we don't have money to go if it is not a business trip that someone else pays for.

BUT, we have two beautiful children that are the best in the world so we are happy.

I'm sorry to report that our local boards are currently down because they've been maliciously hacked. :( We're working madly to get the site back up again, but it looks like everything was wiped. Check out the old EZBoard site if you're jonesing, or keep an eye out at the new address and we'll be up again soon.

Well, I couldn't make it this Thursday, but I hope I can make it this coming Thursday.

Does anyone have a good suggestion on where to find a good pediatrician or family doctor in this area? At our 2 month appt my doc gave us a sheet that suggested starting fruit juice and the cry it out method. I about fell over! Thanks.

I LOVE my child's pediatrician. Her name is Pilar Bescos and she is cool with NOT vaccinating, extended breastfeeding (I am nursing my 4.5 year old), midwives, attachment parenting, etc.

We have gone to another one lately because my dh doesn't like where Dr. Bescos is located, on 75 and Forest Lane in a hospital/medical building. He is afraid of our dds getting sick with so many sick people walking about and riding in elevators, etc. That doctor was OK, but I still prefer Bescos.

Nataly, it was great seeing you today at the La Leche League World Walk for Breastfeeding. Your dh seems like such a great daddy and hubby. I hope you two get to be foster parents some day soon. You two would be terrific!

Thanks!

Ruth - will you be at the mall this Thurs? Perhaps Dr Bescos is just what I'm looking for.

Hi, Ruth and gauge! Good to see you both still around.

EMomma, we'll be at Willow Bend tomorrow -- yay! Time for the kids to hang out at the steak for a while!

No updates on getting the new local boards back up. We're still in the process of getting things back online after the work of a malicous hacker. We'll be back soon!

Mamaste

We're back!

The local boards are back up. We're bare-bones today, still working on getting details back in place and links to old archives, but we'd love to see everyone signing back in and chatting again.

Come see us at DFW Attachment Parenting Forums (http://boards.nataly.org).

See you there!

I hope Dr. Bescos works for ya'll. Keep me posted.

I am sad to announce that my foster baby left our home yesterday. She stayed 3 months and 1 day and we miss her terribly. I hope she is safe and happy with her family and I hope she doesn't miss me and my dh and our dd too much.

I feel so sad for me and for her. But sadness comes with the job of being a foster mommy. As sad as I am now, I would be sadder to think that I hadn't been there for her, that she would have had to stay with her abusive or neglectful parent(s) or that she would have been placed in an orphanage or in a crowded foster home.

I thank you in advance for your prayers and positive thoughts sent my way.

Oh Ruth! I am so sorry to hear that! I am sure you have made a huge difference in her little life that she will always carry with her no matter where she goes! <<<HUGS TO YOU!!!>>>

Hoping another little one will come along to stay awhile with you soon,
Michelle

Ruth, we all saw what you were doing for that tiny person -- it was marvelous! There's a family much the richer for your having been there. Come visit with us soon ... We miss you!

Michelle, how's working life going?

Still gangbusters - my internship is over in about 3 weeks and hopefully then I will be able to breasthe again...Get back to LLL, Stonebriar....heck maybe even get a pedicure one of these days!!!

Have been suffering some supply problems of late - and then replaced the membranes on my PIS - amazing how that works!!!!

08-24-2002, 06:59 PM
Ack! You don't mean to say you're going in every day still?!? :eek I'll bet you are soooo sick of that pump!

Its 2 weeks of night shifts - 3 nights a week, followed by a week of day classes - 5 days. I have a love/hate triangle type relationship with my PIS and the lactina at the hospital LOL

However it LOOKS as though I may be going to days completely when Im done - 3 12 hour day shifts a week - although I am not keen on putting the baby in daycare, they just opened a new daycare center ON the campus just for hospital employees so I could go and nurse him on my breaks. They also seperate the sick kids from the well kids at this place. My oldest daughter is going to continue to watch him in either case though - at least until she tires of babysitting and/or gets a fulltime job, but the daycare is there as a backup.

Hi Everyone!

I have wanted to come to the gatherings at Willowbend/Stonebriar, and now that I am pregnant, I *really* want to attend! Which LLL meetings do you ladies go to? I am only 4 weeks pregnant. Do you think it is too early for me to start attending LLL?

I am so looking forward to meeting you ladies soon!

Jean

p.s. Could it *be* any hotter!??!

Mamaste
08-25-2002, 02:51 PM
Heh. I think this summer has actually been pretty cool overall. Isn't that just sick ?!? :eek

jeanv, I'd go to LLL wherever you live. Close, that's the point. You don't wanna be driving all over the place with a little baby, and you'll want to meet other mamas who live in your area. You might want to visit other groups, but my personal feeling is that you'll be most satisfied by settling in to the one closest to you. As far as going early, do what your enthusiasm dictates. If you have the time and the desire to begin going, go for it!

And congrats on the pregnancy! :hippie

I finally got on the local boards to find out I was considered "older than dirt." Unfortunately, I am awaiting approval in order to reply so I couldn't do it.

Only ya'll, my AP friends, can make me laugh when I am missing my foster baby so much. Thank you.

P.S. I am 41 tomorrow.

Your Plano outings sound very nice, but far away (but, have car will travel). Anyone living in East Dallas? I just became a member of this board and am very happy to meet some new folks. I've got two little ones, a 5-yr-old and a 1-yr-old.

I'm so sorry Ruth. I wish I was good with words, and I wish that words could be comforting, but I imagine they are not. I am sad that your foster baby is no longer with you. I wish she was. I know you do too.

Hugs :(

Everybody: thank you for the kind words and warm hugs. I heard from my foster baby's caseworker that the family that got her (not the parent(s)) was overjoyed with tears to see her. I am glad for her and am feeling less worried about the care and love she will receive.
