How big are the cups of tea?

I sometimes drink one cup of coffee. But I didn't drink caffeine regularly before pregnancy, so I'm a poor example.

My midwife recommended an herbal tea called Pregnancy Tea. It is by Traditional Medicinals. I love it. Two cups per day to soften the area around my uterus, which she says is too firm.

Is there a reason you don't switch to herbal tea? Does your husband make this kind, or your work provide it?

I don't drink anything with caffeine, although I do consume (sometimes large amounts of) chocolate. I would say my caffeine consumption is quite low.

I only drink milk, orange juice and water.

I drink a fairly good sized mug of coffee every morning. Sometimes, but not often, I will have a second mug later in the day. My mw said this is fine. I drank coffee all through my last pg. and while I was nursing, without any problem. BUT, you have to do what's best for you. That amt. of caffiene was ok for me, but may not be for you.

My dh makes me a latte in the morning. But lately it gives me heartburn so I have been having one maybe 2-3 mornings a week. Otherwise I just drink herbal tea. I do eat some chocolate...but that gives me heartburn too :(

Well, luckily tea doesn't have as much caffeine as coffee. So depending on what kind you're drinking 4 cups is probably about equal to 2 cups of coffee. I've heard that you're not supposed to drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day while pregnant (or at least in the last trimester) because it can lead to low birth weight. However, the babies that they studied did not really weigh significantly less than a regular baby. Sorry, I can't remember exact numbers. I read the study like, 5 years ago.

I sometimes have one cup of coffee a day. Or chai. Decaf makes me barf, plus the chemicals in it are probably worse than caffeine. If you really must have tea, try green tea. It has little more caffeine than chocolate. I think red teas have no caffeine at all.

I had an iced blended (like a frappucino) yesterday - it was the first coffee I'd had during the whole pregnancy! It was soooo good too. I miss lattes sometimes. But I pretty much stay away from caffeine. I sometimes drink decaf green tea. I haven't even eaten much chocolate.

I hadn't had any coffee during this pregnancy until 2 or 3 weeks ago. Since then, I've had a small mocha maybe twice. Reading this thread makes me want to have one today!!!!!!!! yum!!! I don't plan on making it a regular part of my routine.

Not much really. I've occasionally had some, but nothing I'm worried about. I was really strict last time and had absolutely NONE. I guess it is true that things are more lax the second time around ;).

Hi, I saw this and remebered your question on caffeine, so I thought I would share it...

Virtually none, though on occassion I'll have something that has caffeine and not worry about it. I was fastidious with Parker, but then I was coming off of drinking a pot of coffee a day back then. ;)

Came back to add: My preggo brain is so fried that I actually posted on this thread twice. :nut

I had a cup of coffee today for the first time in this pregnancy...and oooh! I can feel it. Early on I couldn't STAND the smell of coffee but now it always smells soooo good so I finally succumbed. I have some chocolate regularly and an occasional tea but I can really feel the difference with one cup of real Joe! Whoo-hoo! Perhaps I need to keep this on the occasional side, huh? Wheeeeeee!

I have one very large cup of tea every morning. A shift from my regular coffee which was not sitting well in my early pregnancy tummy. I'll have a little bit of chocolate once and a while but that is it.
