(1) If you're getting prenatal testing done, what test(s) are you choosing?

(2) If this is your 2nd+ child, what kind of, if any, prenantal testing did you get?

(3) If you take prenatal vitamins, what kind do you take? (I need some new ones!)

As for me, I think we'll stick to what we had with DD . . .just one u/s at 19 weeks. The high rate of false positives on other tests and the consequent decisions are too much for me to handle.

With dd#1, I had 2 u/s, one at 7 weeks to confirm date and one at 38? weeks to confirm breech baby (she wasn't!).

This time, I'm not planning any u/s at this point, and unless problems arise, no testing other than for GBS.

ETA: I take Rainbow Light's Prenatal One, so I only taker 1 pill a day.

I did 1 u/s at 18 weeks with Grace, but I've already had an u/s for this one. (M/C scare last week). I take Prenate Elite once at night. They are great. No bad aftertaste.

No US or doppler or prenatal testing with dd ... none planned for this time around either.

ETA ... I just picked up some generic no name prenatal vitamins yesterday ...scared to take any at all as they aggravated the MS last time. I have been taking LOTS of folic acid though.

I take Rainbow Light too. The drag to them is there is not enough ccalcium (way way too low only 300 mg) so I have to take a calcium supplement to + plus make sure i am eating lots of it too. I am going to go back to my solgar (they are 4 a day) but i liked them alot, after i finish the bottle of rainbow light.

I have not yet decided what prenatal testing i am doing. I really want an early u/s to confirm a beating heart :heartbeat. Will probably have the 19 week too - hubby and I like to know the baby's sex.

I am definetly not getting an amnio, but might do the nuchal fold + blood work.

i was just thinking about this. probably because my first appointment is thursday.

about tests -- i'm on the fence. definitely don't want the triple screen. and if we get any u/s it'll likely be the standard one at 20 weeks. last time i had an u/s at 11 weeks because my midwife couldn't detect the heartbeat and wanted to be sure everything was ok. i can't even remember what other tests there were. the one for gestational diabetes. i can't remember what else.

prenatals -- i take a store brand one. it's 1x/day. doesn't taste bad, i probably need to supplement some, though now that you all mention it. i'll check on that.

1. We will get the "standard" 18-22 week ultrasound. My SIL (who is 8) was born with VACTER-L association (also sometimes known as Vater association), and while there is no known genetic link, we feel better checking it out ahead of time, since it would warrant immmediate care at birth. If an ultrasound showed any indication of vater (or anything else of concern, I suppose), we would birth in a children's hospital (we will otherwise be at home). We won't do AFP tests, and will do an early doppler, but limit them after that.

2. We did about the same things with dd.

3. I take a generic prenatal-- I have a jar of Walgreens here at work, and a jar of HEB at home. I also take vitex and a folic acid supplement in the evening-- I'll stop taking vitex after the first trimester.

If your results from the blood work and nuchal fold come out to be positive/at risk for something, would you get the amnio?

Well as for testing I think just the 20wk U/S. With dd I had about three U/S, but nothing else.
As for Vitamins, right now I'm still just taking my regular multi called Alive and Folic Acid supp. I'll start taking Rainbow Light again after the first trimester. My "Ms. Information" at the health food store, said that since it has Red raspberry leaf, it might not be a good idea if you've had a history of m/c.

I am having an us next week- haven't decided on the rest yet- just keep reading and thinking about it all, I don't think I want an amnio- I was 35 in Feb so it may be recommended, I will wait and see.

I was taking Rainbow Light Just Once- now that post about mc has scared me. My doctor gave me cenogen ultra which is now cheaper as a script, guess I'll stick with that!

probably not. i don't think i could terminate a pregnancy unless the child was completely unlikely to live.

that is just me at the moment right now. imo people can change their thoughts and feelings about these things when faced with the reality of them.

Very true!
