I am trying not to get too excited yet, but I just saw the faintest :+ !!

I was showing it to dh (he could barely see it, it really is light), and I kept saying that there were two lines. DD (23 mo) wanted to see what was so exciting, so she came and took the test from me to look at it. She was showing her daddy and kept saying "Dada, two 'ine" She is just starting to string words together, so for me this was about the sweetest thing I've ever heard!

Just wanted to say hello and share that cute story. Hopefully I will be joining you!

:D Congrats and welcome!

For my first preg, I called the company because I kept getting a light line that was barely perceptible and I wasn't sure if it was a positive.

So now I've taken 5 HPTs in less than 24 hours! 3 were very faint :+, but 2 were :I

This morning I even used two different brands side by side, with FMU; one is positive and the other negative

:hopmad

I'm pretty sure I'm pg, but I just want to be able to call my best friend and tell her !!!

That is what happened to me last week. 5 test in 24 hours but the 1st was the only really faint lin. I've been told since that false positives just don't happen and ANY line - light or dark is positive. Have you been trying a long time? 11 months for me and I still don't believe it. My first appointment isn't until September 9 and from my calculations I will be due April 18. I can't wait until a few months. Keep me posted.

From experience - any line is a line - what it meant was that I was not as far along in that cycle as I thought I was even though I track all my dates and fluids etc. I think I did a test a day for a week until they were the same color even though by that point no one disputed I was pg.

I am almost 16 weeks pregnant with a "faint line" baby! :D

Just go get a blood test at a lab....it will put an end to the wondering!

Good Luck :thumb

Thanks for the encouraging stories!

A line showed up on the negative test from this morning after a few minutes, so the count is now 4 to 1 (all very faint). I do think I may have O'd a little later this cycle, so it could just be early.

Kelly, this is our sixth month of trying. Not too long, but it seemed like forever! I should be due around April 29th if this is for real!

I would LOVE to get a lab test done, but our insurance is not great and it would end up being expensive. I will just wait it out and test again in a few days.

I had 4 faint lines before getting a really good positive. Give it another day or two then test again :)

I had faint lines at first too---barely perceptible (but there!) on Friday and Saturday at 12 and 13dpo. Much stronger postive on Monday at 15dpo :)

Let us know what you find out! :fingersx:

This morning I tested again and the line was actually lighter :irked:

I am starting to get worried. I will test again on Tuesday; I will see my mom and my best friend that day, and I am really hoping to have good news for them.

Dh told MIL everything. She's the only person we've told, and she doesn't seem to care either way. She was just here, and she didn't say a word to me. I feel so lonely not being able to share this with anyone, but I don't really have any news yet, and I can't handle another indifferent reaction.

I really appreciate being able to share here! I would be going absolutely :nut without you ladies!

OK...enough drama for one thread. I'll come back when I know one way or the other.

I had some spotting today. It was just a little, and now it's gone, but since the :+ were iffy to begin with I expect that I will starting bleeding any time now.

I am so sorry that I won't be joining you :crying

Thanks again for the encouragement.

If you had a faint line, then you're pg!!! Any line, no matter what shade of pink (as the instructions say!!), means you're preg!!
As for your spotting... It's good that it went away. Try and relax and lay down for a while, stay off your feet.

I'm sorry :(
Hopefully the spotting was a fluke and AF will stay away.

Yes and no . . .what test were you using? If it was FRER or Answer Early, proceed with caution! They are known to give false positives, even with MEN. (I had 4 false +s last month . ..got AF the same day!)

But, I agree that spotting does not mean that AF will show up! Many people have spotting and are just fine (and pregnant!)

Thanks for holding out hope for me, but this is definitely more than spotting now. I also should have mentioned that I had unmistakable symptoms (sore breasts and ravenous hunger :) that stopped altogether Sunday afternoon. I thought it might have been in my head, but there was a pronounced difference. I used several different kinds of hpts (I think we spent more than we would have had I just gone to the dr). I am thinking this was a chemical pregnancy.

I can't tell you how much your support has meant to me over the past few days. :love

shannon, a similar thing happened to me last month- positive test then my period started. i told my best girlfriend about it, she went to medical school, and is also trying to concieve, so is very versed in these things. here is what she told me. there is no such thing as a false positive. unless you are taking fertility drugs, the only way to get a positive result on a hpt is to have a fertilized egg in there. so what happened when your period came on schedule? she says its because the egg didnt complete implantation. i dont know if that offers you any comfort- at least you know you were really close and on the right path. i am pregnant for sure this time, so maybe you'll get it next cycle, too. i will watch for you to come back. good luck!

ps- i think that might be part of the reason it is emotionally safest to wait untill your period is actually late to test- to reduce the occurence of false results, either positive or negative. sorry. i know the waiting is no fun. :irked:

Gina, thank you! I had been watching your story and I am so happy for you!

Sunbaby,

I think that is exactly what happened. And I have heard of several mamas who got pg the next cycle after this kind of thing. It gives me hope! I am getting serious about ttc now, I started temping and charting today. I wish I would have charted this month so that I would have had a better idea what was happening. I will let you know when I get pg and it sticks!

First of all, Shannon, I'm SO sorry. What an emotional rollercoaster you've been on!

You may very well have had a chemical pregnancy. :hug But just so others out there know, there IS such a thing as false positives . . .here's a site that lists possible causes. Causes of False Positive Tests (http://conceivenow.netfirms.com/pgtest/false.htm)

ETA: I'm not sure if my tests were false or not last month (I think they were wrong) but I DID get pregnant the following cycle . . .and my charts were uuuuuugly! So, yes, please be hopeful!!!!
