I have PCOS and have had to use Clomid with Baby #3 and Baby #4. I am bf a almost 5 month old and wanting to TTC#5. I know.....many ask why since she is still so young but with past fertility issues I think time is of the essence. Anyone know if Clomid is safe while BF, or of any other things I can do?

Hi Alicia. I used Clomid to get pg with DS (13 months old) and I have not had a PPAF. I asked my Ob/Gyn and he said he would not prescribe Clomid while I am nursing. The main reasons being that they don't know exactly how the Clomid would affect my son (him getting it through my milk) and also because the shift in hormones that Clomid brings may affect my milk supply. So for now I am trying to be patient and wait for PPAF... or something to tell me I am O'ing again. I am a firm believer in CLW and Extended Nursing so I don't plan on weaning my son just so I can go on Clomid. At least not anytime soon. Good luck. :)

I did 2 rounds of clomid while nursing dd. I looked it up in "Medications in Mothers Milk" before taking it & the only concern is it can reduce milk supply. My dd was nearly 2, so I wasn't concerned & didn't see a reduction in supply. I would however be concerned if taking it with a baby under age 1, as they drink so much more than a nearly 2 year old, kwim? Good luck!! I also have PCOS & am now pregnant with number 2 after taking follistim injections. And I'm still nursing my now 27 month old :D
