Alyssa,
I've been meaning to go to the aquarium as well. We were going to go yesterday, but when we drove by there were two buses of children un-loading. I decided to wait. :) If you like to get together sometime we could meet at the aquarium. I live just a few minutes from them. Driving that is. Here is my e-mail address Nolansmommy320@aol.com

I just saw this post now. I'd be up for the aquarium, if anyone wants to go. I've taken DS several times, he loves fish! Of course last time we went he was a non-walker, so this time things could get crazy, lol!
If anyone wants to go, afternoons after 1:30 or Monday/Tuesday anytime are best for me.

Should we try to plan a trip to the aquarium next week? So far, I am free any day.

I'd love to go.

Right now I guess any day except Tuesday would be good since Kelly is having her first playgroup on Tuesday. Like I said, I'm free any day so you guys pick a day.

I would like to go! I could go any day after 1:30 or anytime on Fri.

I thought of something else. I assume there is an entrance fee. I've never been so tell me if I'm wrong. If there is one, I can get discount tickets for anyone. If you're military you can get your own, too. Unless they have kama'aina discounts, in which case we can all get discounted tickets for ourselves.
RImomma

You only need to show your military id or hawaii license to get a discount.

Oh, ok. Thanks Meg. I thought I would need to get tickets from ITT. I was wondering where you went. Do you want to come also?

Hey everyone. Let's plan to go to the aquarium on Friday so we will all have the whole day. We should make sure we have each other's phone numbers in case someone ends up without a car or something.

I can go Friday after 1:30. If you guys want to go earlier I could just meet you there. I think it was around $4 with the Kamaaina/military discount and babies are free.

Nolan and I can go Friday. Nolan is 18 months old.
What time does everyone want to get together?
The only thing I can think of if we get together later is that the traffic will be horrible going home.

I don't care what time we go. I don't have to be back for anything so I can always wait out the traffic. As a matter of fact, since I never get down to Waikiki, it might be nice to plan to have dinner there. Anyone else interested or do you all have to get home to your dhes?
Does anyone know the hours that the aquarium is open? What about parking? Is there parking there or do we have to find a garage? I've never been and I don't even know where it is. I'll have to look it up on a map.
RImomma

The aquarium is open 9-4:30. As far as parking goes there is parking on either sides of the road by the Aquarium. The right side is free while the left side is metered. If you can't find a spot there you could also try the Zoo lot.
-Meg
Oh I would be interested in going out to dinner, but we are leaving early in the morning for Kauai...I'll probally have a lot of last minute things to do.
MarineWife

Oooooh, Kauai, nice. I hope to go there while we are here.
Should we plan to meet at 2 to give Angie time? Will 2 1/2 hours be enough time to get through? I'm more than happy to go earlier if anyone wants.

Please meet at the time that is most conveinant for everyone. You don't need to meet late on account of me. :)

Well, since no one else is speaking up I will pick a time. Feel free to suggest a different time if mine doesn't work for you. Like I've said many times, I'm free all day so anytime works for me (as long as it's not too early in the am). How about meeting at 11 am at the entrance?
Angie, Why can't you come before 1:30? Will you not have a car? If not, I'd be happy to swing by and pick you up. My car can accomadate a 2nd carseat.

I really want to go but being my dh will be home tomorrow we will probably be with his dad this weekend. I hope i can make it next time. :love

Alysia, I couldn't go before because I have to drop my DH off at work to get the car. We only have one. That's really sweet of you to offer to take us. But I don't think I am going to go after all. The elementary school near our house is having their annual keiki carnival that day. I was going to walk there with MIL and I didn't realize they were the same day.

I'm going. I have to go to the university in the morning to fill out some paperwork, but I'm free after that. I could swing by there at 11. The aquarium is pretty small. It will probably take us an hour or so to get through.
Should we pack a lunch to have in the park afterwards? Also, I was thinking of calling Jenn since she lives down there.

We will be there at 11...Nolan might be a little grumpy, but once he sees the fish he should be fine.
If he's in a good mood I can stay afterwards to have lunch in the park. Or we could eat at the beach too.

Ok, good. 11 am it is. I didn't realize it would only take an hour. I'm so used to northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., where it takes half the day to do anything. I'm hoping I can talk my 13yo into coming by offering him a meal out.

Alysa,
Do you home school your oldest?

Yes, I do homeschool. We just started last November when he was in 7th grade. We are still deschooling, though, so we aren't really doing much. I think it's going to take a long time because he had such a hard time in school for so long. Anything even the least bit school related he refuses to consider. He says he doesn't want to go so it'll just be me and Ethan.
Angie, I'm sorry you won't be coming. I just got my sachi ABC and I was hoping to practice using it with you. I really like it. So far I've used it at the commissary and today I put Ethan on my back and did some housework. Have fun at the fair.
So, I guess it's going to be me, Annie and Meg. See you all tomorrow.

I'm so sorry we weren't able to make it today. Nolan got up super early, and wouldn't take a nap in the early am. He's finally went down for a nap around 10:30. He's still sleeping now.. Maybe we can get together another time.

How did all the babies like the fish? I always enjoy the aquarium..
Alysia, lmk when you want to get together to go over your Sachi carrier. I'm glad you like it. I'd like to try it out too. What fabric did you get? I was thinking about trying to sell or trade my Kozy for something more feminine.

Aww, I missed it! I was at work anyway (I work in the mornings during the week) but Nathan loves fish and we haven't been to the aquarium yet. I hope you guys had a great time!

Jenn, Glad to see you online. How are things going? Are you getting settled in? It's difficult to move to a new place but I think it's even harder to move here because it feels so isolating sometimes.
Angie, If you decide to sell your kozy, I get first dibs. I still want to get a camo ABC for Sean. I've decided that if he doesn't like it, it'll still be convenient to have two. I got the cream dragonfly fabric on the second page of the sachi fabrics. We'll have to get together next week sometime. Bridgett from LLL is tentatively planning another playdate for Friday. We're talking about either the triangle park in Kailua or the super playground here on base.

I am getting settled in, thank you! Finding a job has really helped me feel more at home (even if it's only part-time). I do wish I had some friends on the island that I could see occasionally but all in due time, right? ;) Anyway, things are going well and Hawaii is growing on me! :D

Where exactly in Waikik are you? (You don't have to give me your exact adress :)) I've been down that way twice in two days now and have to go back tomorrow. My teenager thinks he's going to get discovered tomorrow at a talent search thingy. Ethan is much better in the car so I don't mind it anymore.

Alysia - I'm in Ala Moana, pretty much across from the mall on Atkinson. Good luck with the talent search tomorrow, I hope it doesn't take too long. :thumb

Jenn- So glad to see you back. I was going to call you on Fri., but everything got so hectic I didn't have time.
Anyways, its good to hear you got a job. Where are you working?
If you ever want to hang out, give me a call or PM me. I keep wondering how you guys are hangin in there. My husband works right there off Ala Moana and Hobron, so we're down there alot -- and I know the area pretty well. I used to work at the Outrigger.
My first year here was really hard. I didn't know anyone, and it was really isolating, and basically sucked. Working helped alot.

Ooooooooooh, if I lived across the street from Ala Moana, we'd be in the poorhouse. LOL Not just a mall, but a mall of very expensive shops!
