Hi, I just found this forum today. I am an Anchorage mom, my daughter Samantha is just about 2 years old (Dec 1).

We are on the crunchy side of mommyhood. We co-sleep, breastfed until she weaned about a month ago, I try and keep in mind her dignity and respect her wishes on most things.

I noticed some of you see Dr. Baker and Dr. Tulip. They are who I see for Sam and they are wonderful.

I work out at Fort Richardson, but live in South Anchorage.

I love to shop (very thrifty when I do), but get so frustrated that the better products (baby stuff right now) is not here. Even our specialty shop carrys mostly the same junk as TRU. So e-bay, amazon.com and some other places have been saviors.

Mainly just stopping in to say hi, and introduce myself. Now that I know about this board I will check in and see what is up.

:)

Hi! I live in Anc and work at Ft Rich too! I am pg with #5, but have a 15 yo ss, 6 yo ds, 14 mo ds, and 4 mo adopted ds. Due 2-18. Hopefully not ANOTHER BOY, but I am not holding my breath. It seems I can't teach my "old dog" new tricks...

Hi again, I have lived in Alaska for about 20 years (excluding about five years for college). I do love Alaska, but I really loved Texas and Oklahoma too (college states). My husband has been in Alaska for over 30 years (we have alot of family here).

I just have one cutie Samantha. Would not mind another but Sam is a handful and with working that is not likely.

Her webpage is: www.Rocketsam.com

I work out at DPW at Fort Richardson, as a computer weenie.

I will check the boards, I have a couple favorites I check very frequently (ever heard of baby bargins).

Thanks for the welcome. Have a wonderful day...

Not from Anchorage, I live on the Kenai, but I thought I'd say Hi and Welcome!

Oh, Girdwood is so awesome! We go down there all the time for to ride the tram and go swimming. Great kid hikes, too:) Lucky you!

Just drove back through there on our way home from a wet camping trip in Seward.

We also seem to go to Palmer a lot for kid stuff. Beautiful drive and so much to do around there.

Good luck meeting Baby!!

we've only lived in Alaska for 1 1/2 years and we drive by Girdwood all the time to and from Anchorage, I always want to stop there and we haven't, well, besides the Tesoro, but that doesn't count ;) . My absolute favorite place to go is Homer, it's always so beautiful there!

Oh, we LOVE Homer, too:) Our playgroup did 3 nights down there a few weeks ago. We got a townhouse right on the beach and just played on the beach. Sooo much fun for us and so much fun for the boys to throw rocks and play on the driftwood.

Homer is incredible. I love the bakery just before the airport. And, 3 Sisters next to Bishop Beach.

Hey, re: Girdwood, did you know you can get a punch card for the pool? 10 visits for $45. So nice to use their saltwater pool, kids are much more adventurous there.

My SIL gave our family a 10-punch punch card for the hotel pool as part of her baby shower gift to us. I didn't know it was saltwater. Interesting. I can't wait to go swimming. I'm looking forward to using swimming as part of my "get back into shape" routine.
