Sucks! I'm a pretty private person, but already people are looking twice at my belly. I'm usually pretty small and this is #2 -- what to do? tell? lie? delay? I wish I knew what to say when I'd really rather wait to tell people until I'm at least 10 weeks.

What would you do? I'm seeing my parents in two weeks and would really like to hide it for another little while.

Wear big clothes, suck it in, smile and don't answer... I showed really early after the first. Maybe just smile and say "We'll see." I never could keep a secret.

I hear ya- I'm pg with #3 and am showing (7 wks tomorrow). I didn't wear mat. clothes till I was 5 mos with my girls! :eek

I would just be as evasive as you can- and wear sweatpants :D

Sigh. I'm one of those tight-fitting clothes people. Not sexy, just not loose-fitting. I never have liked wearing loose clothes except to bed. I think anyone who knows me at all is going to suspect. I guess it's a good thing that I just started a new job... maybe no one will notice!

I'm not even sure if I have any loose clothes. But man... I feel so large! How could people not notice? DH insists that I feel much bigger than I look.

It's great that I can tell YOU guys -- I feel like I can get some of this angst off my chest!

LOL i am in the very same boat you are in. im pg with #3 and am BIG already (7 1/2 wks) !!! im already eyeing up the mat clothes.

we are going to my mil for sil's birthday dinner tomorrow and no one knows except mil. there will be the whole family there. i also where slim fitted clothes and am going to attempt to pull off that i have a cold. (i have the exhastion and bags under the eyes) yes lying is bad....if someone asks me flat out "are you pg" i dont know what ill do.

i plan on wearing a sorta big sweater (still pretty small) that you can only sorta tell in and really try to pull off the cold. my big give away are my ginormus breasts. A to C cup!!

suck it in, hide behind the table, ...like kayleeZoo said...be evasive. good luck

claim bloating and constipation. i have told a select few and they have told me afterwards they suspected something. even psychic mil at like 2 weeks, before i even knew. but that's another story. i'm not telling half my fam and so i'm in the same boat as you... i'm wearing strategic clothes. pants that are stretchy, but appear tight, under a cute, but loose-bellied top. sil (who doesn't know) told mil, who does know, she looks pg! haha

This is where being a large woman to begin with comes in handy. I showed at 8 wks with DS and already have a small pooch with this one at 7 wks (#3) Another lucky strike for me is i never quit wearing my maternity clothes after DS was born. I had gained so much weight with him (and still hadn't lost it this time) that none of my pre pregnancy clothes fit anymore. I am real picky about clothes and couldn't find any i liked so i just kept wearing maternity clothes. I had all underbelly jeans and shorts with him so it wasn't a big deal. If anyone pays attention though they will notice that i am already wearing maternity shirts (haven't been wearing them) because my boobs are busting out of my regular shirts now.

None of my family knows (also none have seen me in about a month and a half). None of my in laws know. Only 3 IRL friends know already. I don't plan to tell anyone until it is obvious...which i am guessing will be before 12 weeks. I COULD avoid everyone for months though and not bring up suspicion with my absence. (all family lives hours out of town and some on the other side of the country)

I've noticed two things in the past couple days:
1. most women of my age have bellies, if small ones. even though I never carried my weight in my belly, it's just not abnormal to have a small belly, just abnormal for me.

2. being of a culture where women wear large, shifty clothes, like india, for example, would be really useful right now. Oh, if only I could totally change my style. Think it would be obvious? :)

i hear ya. yesterday i thought...i wont have to tell anyone at 12 weeks b/c i will be in maternity clothes and have a belly out to there. when i eat a real meal i feel huge. like i could waddle already!! mostly i wear loose clothes but some of my pants really dont fit already. yeesh.

i think your best bet is to be evasive if you arent ready to tell. makes it more fun!
