So I talked to my midwife today and she mentioned that she's going to be out of town until perhaps May 11. And you know my due date is May 16th. :bigeyes :crying See, she has the opportunity to go to China with her school (Oriental Medicine) for three or four weeks in April and it's absolutely something she shouldn't miss out on! She said she *might* not spend that last week in Tibet so she *might* come back earlier but she doesn't know yet. And the annoying part is that they aren't even planning the trip till December so the dates aren't set in stone yet. *sigh*
She has said that she will understand if I'd rather go with another midwife, of course, but that she's still willing to take me on and will have an excellent back-up for me in the event she doesn't make it. Now, I'm not all that worried about not making it b/c I REALLY believe I wouldn't let myself go into labor until she got back, but there's still a CHANCE, you know? And that chance makes me nervous. I'm thinking I might set up a consultation with M. - the midwife she mentioned, and I've known two other people to recommend her highly, too - BUT M. lives like an hour away. So you know, if V. is gone for my last month of pg, M. will be covering my prenatal care and 2-hour drives once a week seem less than exciting to me. *sigh*
I think I am still going to go with V., but I'm looking for support or opinions or other viewpoints. But yeah, I think if I set up a consultation with M. in the next few weeks to meet her, I'd probably feel better about the whole thing. It's easier to feel comfortable about a back-up when you've seen and talked to the backup and got a "feel" for her, yk?
