Hi. I'm here. Going by LMP (or a guestimate as to when it was) I'm due may 28-30, but I'm really thinking more like June 5th. Who knows, though.
I met our MW last week. She seems really nice. And, our insurance covers homebirths with any licensed healthcare provider, and MW is a licensed nurse. But they cover 70% of an average of 2-4 similar providers in the area. She plans to bill at a higher than normal (normal being $1600) rate so that we don't have to pay much, if any, out of pocket. She also charges $25/visit to her home or $45 if she comes to you.
I had a cesarean last baby, but a vaginal birth with my first son. He was 9lb6oz with a decent sized head, so I have faith in my ability to birth any baby my body can grow. As long as nothing unexpected comes up, like placenta previa/abruptia or something.
My dilemma is deciding if/how many times to visit my OB. I have had my annual scheduled for a few months now. It should have been 6 or 8 months ago but that didn't happen. MW doesn't believe in scraping a pregnant cervix, but I dont know if I should have OB do a pap since I had mild dysplasia while pg. with #1. Also, OB's office will go ahead and take care of all the labwork and stuff so MW won't have to send me somewhere else. And my OB will do U/S as soon as I go in, most likely. Last pregnancy I switched to this practice (dif OB though) at 14 weeks and got an u/s and found out it was a boy at 14.5 weeks. I'd like to find out what we are having now b/c if it's a boy dh and I will be battling for months over the circumcision issue. (first 2 boys are circ'ed but I'm more educated now and don't want to do it.) I told him I would rather let him name our son StarWarsidiah (dh's name is jedidiah, ds#1 middle name is Obediah) than to have him circ'ed for no reason. Hubby is pretty close minded.
Anyway, i've yammered enough for now. :)
