View Full Version : Can I change my username without losing my status?

I registered before I knew much about the community here, and
used my first name "Victoria" for my username. Seeing as how this
is done by almost no one else, I feel a little exposed and would
like to change my handle to something else. Is there a way to
do this without losing my user status and post record? My guess
is no, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
all the best,
Victoria

Sure! But I have to do it for you. Just tell me what you want to change it to.

I'm having the same problem. Actually, it's DH who doesn't like me using my real name (I think he's jealous that the nickname pre-dates him), but he's probably right since I have disclosed that I live in a particular town(pop. >10,000).
I only have the one e-mail address to register under so I don't see how I could delete my registration to just open up a new one...
Could you help me? I'd like my username to be greenfaeriedog (DH approved!)
Thanks, dm

Cynthia - when you change someone's user name, does is automatically go back to all of the previous posts they've ever posted, and change it? Just wondered.
I'm thinking of changing my name, but I'm afraid that the others on the boards won't know it's me - the same person. The reason I'm thinking of changing my username is because it's the same email address I use for everything, so it's not confidential if someone I know should happen upon the boards.

I was wondering the same kind of thing...I was on I think a year or so under the name mcaw...then I didn't log on for a while and forgot my password and had to change names to mcaww Can they be compiled? And change it to Mcaws cause I have a new daughter? If not, that's fine. Just wondering...thanks

Yes, the name change takes effect on all previous posts.
Maybe you could change it to just "kindred"? Dunno... Not very creatively helpful tonight. :p
mcaww I don't think I can combine two names like that. But I can change your current name and it take effect on all posts made under mcaww. I'll do that now...

can you help remove the words under my username? not the signature, but the username.
someone added words to my user name "i love my fat feelings" and i cannot get it removed myself.
the faq's aren't a help because they refer me to the "custom user text field" under user profile, and i see no such thing.
tia.

Could I change too? Mine is my location -- which I chose because it was my name on ebay. I'd like Dandelionmane, if possible, please.
