Wyoming here we come!

Hello All! I am new to the Mothering.com community.

My family and I are moving from California to Wyoming at the end of this month. Any mom's out there currently living in Wyoming? Any suggestions for moving with an 18 month old? I should say, any suggestions for doing a three-day road trip with an 18 month old?

Moving to Wyoming? Why on earth????
Just kidding, Welcome to God's Country! Blue skies, no smog, waving neighbors, Green and Rolling hills for as far as you can see, that and cows ~ it's all you can see:p Where are you gonna be?
I am a mere 57 miles from Wyoming border, officially in South Dakota but close enough that the cowboys can't tell the difference :) We just moved here 6 weeks ago from Sioux Falls, where we lived for 8 years after moving from L.A. Miss the excitement, but not the crazies nor the earthquakes!
I've done the SD ~ CA roadtrip with the kids, my #1 piece of advice is Less is More! My kids were so overwhelmed by everything I tried to pack... they really just wanted their crayons, favorite books & the MagnaDoodle (this is the greatest car invention ever!). I brought along lots of familiar music too, to help pass the time, fingerfoods for between stops; stop often and let her RUN; nothing but water to drink in the car, it dries and doesn't get sticky! :)

Well, we made it! Thanks for your advice about the water... We kept snacks to a minimum; it's so easy to lose the good eating habits on the road. We stopped about every hour and a half to two hours-- at city parks (as available).

Now, the adjustment period. The little one keeps asking about his best buddy back in California. So, I am working on finding social outlets for BOTH of us.

Love it in Wyoming! WIIIIIIIIIIDE OPEN SPACES!

Absolutely LOVE it here!! It is not only beautiful but this town really puts a lot of effort into its rec department and has so much going on for the kids.

I wake up still after a month here and think its all a dream.

I just wanted to say hello! I'm currently in Chicago, but before we moved here we lived in Rawlins and then Encampment Wyoming. We are moving back at the end of the month but to Casper, as my DH HATES the city here. He wants to go back to cowboy country! :p Just wanted to say hello!

I am also new to the boards, we live in Marbleton its the south west corner. Its a very very small town of 600 i think...

Living here is just better than I can tell you..well, not YOU since you obviously know..LOL

Today, there is a heavy frost fog..I had the boys come out and look at the girls(the girls are dogs) because when they were ready to come back in, they were frosted..even their eyelashes...it looked so cool!

Anyhow, glad to see another WY mama..
