Hi,
I found this forum and felt that this is a right place to be around.Yesterday I had my first appt,though it was just for a consultation,as they said that they don't do a test until 8 wks. I gave them a wrong input about my LMP,I told them it is 1st Sep(but actually later I found that it was 7th Sep.).Anyway after my doctor heard that I am having some cramp in my lower ab he tried hearing the heart beat ,but there was none,then he did the ultra sound and after little bit of struggle he found a tiny black bright spot which even I could see.He said the fetus is undergrown.I had a blood test yday and one more is due tomm,if the HCG doubles everything should be fine.I am really very tensed and upset.Is this size of the fetus what came in US normal for 5 wks(the size was about little bigger than a smiley) ?
This worry is keeping me occupied all the time.did any of you have US at 5 wks +
stage and did not see a clear picture of fetus,is it okay?
please throw some info...I am going crazy.I will not know if the HCG growth is normal by this monday.......:1praying:

Why in the world would they try to hear the heartbeat so early?? I wonder if they thought your dates were off or something?
Please don't be concerned. It is SO early and this is one of the reasons why so many mammas decide against early testing. It can really worry you for nothing. And besides, if your dates are off, that could be another reason why the fetus looked small according to your care provider.
I hope that didn't sound too harsh ;o) I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I had an U/S very early on with ds (to date the pregnancy) and they couldn't see anything . We just had to wait and see and everything was fine.

Try not to worry about it. And as Karen pointed out, many MDC moms forgo a lot of the usual prenatal tests because in many cases they just create a lot of worry. Hang in there! And welcome :)

If you are 5 weeks then it is too tiny to see anything yet. The heart is developing now and into the 6th week so there isn't much to see yet.

thanks sssssso much beatifull ladies out here........I am gonna go to do any test only when I am over 8wks..........your comments lifted my spirit up.....
