Now, hook me up here, I don't Get It.

Is there a REASON that all the fleece slings I see online are tube-style slings??? Because a friend and I intend to hit Malden Mills soon and make ourselves fleece slings for winter, maybe even one with Windpro, but we both hate tube slings, we prefer the type with rings.

Can they not "grip" the metal rings properly? The slings we've done thus far have all been MayaWrap style. Or is there another reason why everyone uses tube slings with fleece? Or is it just a cost issue?

Well, my take on the situation is that there would be SO MUCH fabric if you made a maya-wrap type sling out of fleece. Since it's so thick, it could be cumbersome. If you were worried about slippage, you could always sew some type of addition to the end of the sling flap that would be bigger than the rings, so it couldn't fall ALL the way through.

I guess it would depend on how thick the fleece is?

I've thought about making one, too, but it would be tube style, for more warmth for my friend's babe.

That's my guess :D

My guess is that fleece is so thick that it wouldn't even fit into the rings, never mind be loose enough to adjust. Even heavy weight cottons can make it tricky with rings. The only way I can think of to do it is start with a lightweight fleece and a minimal width of fabric, maybe 30 inches, and taper the fabric as it gets toward the tail so that it will fit inside the rings. I'm not positive this would work but you could try.
