ok, so hubby and i are comming down with cold. more specifically, my sinuses are feeling yucky, and i think i may have an infection just starting out. usually i would combat this with lots of water, garlic, vit c, and especially, zinc. the zinc nasal stuff that i have (zycam brand) says not to use while pregnant or breastfeeding unless under the guidance of a healtcare proffessional or whatever. my midwife is still out of town (gets back sometime today i believe). i could call the dr, but i seriously doubt whoever i talk to there will know enough about it for me to agree with them.
what do you ladies know about zinc and pregnancy?

I hope somebody knows the answer b/c I just bought zinc/vit c tablets for us all to take if we start coming down with anything- last thing we need right now!

i asked around and searched and found nothing that said it was unsafe, and some that said it was. i finally broke down and used some. i always feel better after taking it knowing that i'm doing something.
it is so weird to have a cold and not have the option of taking anything. lol. of course, the only reason i ever take anything is because i can never sleep with a cold. when i'm pregnant appearently, i can sleep anytime, anywhere, so it's not an issue. i just really don't wanna end up on antibiotics. the last thing i need is to lose this battle i've been fighting with yeast to antibiotics.

Your midwife would probably know for sure.
I haven't heard anything about zinc, though I did hear that you need to avoid menthol.

I was reading somewhere the other day that zinc is good for preventing nausea during early pregnancy, so I assumed it was fine.
