Hi, I am curious to find out if you celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving in Germany and how.
With my older DD and some of her friends I go trick-or-treating every year. We knock out friends' and some neighbours doors and even make a scare at the local library. Everybody has asked us to come again the next year.
After the tour, we usually have a little party for the kids and their parents. We split the goodies in two. Half of it goes to a local hospital. The next day, on all saints day we distribute little packages with sweets to sick children in the hospital.
This year, I will ask people to give us more "healthy goodies"!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Every year I just have to do my New England turkey recipe and all the rest. We invite some family and friends. Sometimes I felt very lonely at these celebrations, because I miss my American family the most and also when we had somebody at the table who wouldn't understand why we would celebrate this American tradition. Some things you just can't explain you have to live them!
To a happy holiday season in Germany!
