I have been sewing quite a bit in the past couple of days. Have been out of the loop since my pregnancy and trying to find a new rhythm with a 13 month old. I do most of my cutting on the floor and ooh ahh those shiny scissors, Italia just has to try and get them everytime I set them down. Then when the fabric is on the floor, she wants to lay on top of it. I tried laying down another piece for her and she's not interested. She has to be doing what mama is. I even gave her some pieces of the fabric I was using and she still wanted to be right there, laying on my project.
In between school and sewing I don't have much time at nap to do all of my cutting.

Ideas???
How do you get sewing and cutting done with dc around?
Soo many dangerous tools involved with sewing, scissors, seam rippers, sergers, sewing machine. Aaaahhhhh. Never realized how danerous it could be.

What do you other sewing mama's do to have a productive business balanced with babies.

My 2 1/2yo is the same way. She tries to help me lay it out after I've already done it so i have to fix it. Then because i often work with several metres at a time she figures it's a runway for her. I do it at night when she's in bed, I can't do it when she's up. I can sew and that kind of stuff when she's up but not the cutting.

I don't have a business sewing, but I do like to do it every once in awhile. I just moved all my sewing things into the guest bedroom in our basement. I used to have them upstairs in a closet and when ds was in bed I could get them out and work. But I had to make sure I had everything cleaned up before I went to bed. And I found that it was just too much work to drag everything out for a couple hours of sewing, so I hardley ever sewed. Now Everything is set up in this room and I can sew when ever I want. But I usually do it when Zane is taking a nap, or after he goes to bed at night. Just too much temptation for a 2yr old. And I keep the door locked during the day so he can't get into stuff in there.
